first off, everything hasbro does is for money. they're a business, its what they need to do.

 

it does look like the majority of the movie will be a high school drama. though based off both trailers, it looks like there will quite of bit of non-standard fare

I don't think so. The pictures are hinted to include some sort of action scenes at the end. Also we're going to be dealing with Twilight trying to fit in as a human so we're more likely to get a 'fit in' story than a 'high school drama' story. Plus if the writers made us love ponies, they can make us love high school stuff.

It may start out that way, but if the leaked pictures are anything to go by, it's going to end somewhere *weird*. Like 'how did Hasbro approve this?' weird.

 

That's not to say it will be good, of course. Or that the leaked pictures aren't from cut scenes that don't appear in the movie anymore.

 

However, it does mean that DHX were thinking sideways about this one. My only concern being that this sideways thinking hasn't shown up in any of the trailers or other advertisements. Just in the leaked pictures. The marketing department and the animation department don't seem to be on speaking terms on this one.
