DoctorWhovian1902 596 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 (edited) Okay, first off, long story short my parents wanted me gone from the fandom the minute they found out I was in it. They also probably think I'm already out of it due to the lack of conversation between us about it. Well, if you haven't guessed already, I'm not out of the fandom. Far from it. While I've been working on converting friends of mine (albeit unsuccessfully), I've come across a lot of great fandom music. One such piece was "First Flight" by PonyEveningStar: After finding out that this piece has sheet music, I had my mom listen to the song, which she loved and had me print off the sheet music. Here's the thing, though: she doesn't know it's from the Brony fandom. So while she was busy telling me how awesome it is (and rightfully so), I'm just standing there with a smile on my face. She asked for the artist, but I said I'd found it anonymously, and that it's location couldn't be traced. She said it was a "great mystery". I also said it wasn't titled, so it has no possible way to be found. She loves it nonetheless, and I intend to show it to others, revealing it's origin after their reactions. This could be the beginning of something great. So that's my story for the day. Thoughts? Edited June 18, 2013 by whoovesfan7698
Moonlight 7,286 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 This might actually be a good idea. It's a nice way of showing her that bronies aren't 'freaks' or anything. Try to keep doing this; make sure you say what their reactions are. 3 matching setups with my bff pathfinder
SonOfTheNorthe 412 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 Hueheuheue. You brilliant evil bastard. I'm not sure how your mom is going to react, but promise us this one thing. You will tell us the results of this experiment.
James 302 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 Awesome! You should try and do it again with more brony songs if you can. Can't imagine how my mother would react, definitely not positively.

Smarts 1,622 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 Well, aren't you a clever one. This is a very brilliant way of showing your mom what the fandom has to offer with her not even knowing about it until you reveal where the music is from. Oh, I can just imagine the look on her face when you tell her. 1 IF is best girl.
Frenzyhero 52 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 Seems legit. I love projects like that. I did something awhile back that's a bit similar to this. I sure do hope you aren't making a mistake with this though. They could feel as though you betrayed their trust. Otherwise, I do support this post. 1 On 6/7/2013 at 6:22 PM, Keiichi said: Kawaii-desu outta pineapple. Signature made by Jokuc, thank you. OC made my Folarin Hooves of Canterlot.com. Jokuc 8,173 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 I don't really see how that is "trolling your mother" Anyways, haha that's awesome. It would be fun too see her reaction if you told her
Raiden_Opsaidoun 23 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 Nice move there. When are you going to tell them the truth about the song? Anyway, I tried to troll my sister one time (don't ask) all because she's a bitch to me, and to have fun. I didn't realize you can troll your parents by secretly listening to something awesome! I feel like trolling my dad by telling him Discord is John de lancie, and the fact that it's a character in MLP and hear him say: THIS MUST BE EVIL SORCERY!!! or something like that. He is kinda against the fandom just because its loved by dudes. XD

I'm hoping for the best and that your family will see we're not as bad as they think I will say that IS a really beautiful song though :3 Edited June 18, 2013 by ~Wuvable Woona~ 1 Thank you Nas for the sig :3 #HugWoona
Princess Lona 382 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 Nice. Does your mom play? Did you get her to play it? You should try to get her to play it in a performance setting. And I definitely agree that you should get more pieces and show them to her too. See how many you can get her to like before you reveal the awful truth 1 My OC, Tabula. Mephala 2,633 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 (edited) EveningStar is the only pony artist I listen to. It's interesting that you managed to get your mother to like it, but that doesn't really constitute as "trolling" in my opinion. *laughs* Either way, glad she likes it. Perhaps she will see that those who call themselves "bronies" aren't all perverts. :-p Edited June 18, 2013 by Suigintou
~Squishy Skies~ 756 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 (edited) That's a great way to introduce people to the fandom subtly. Show people the beautiful pieces of art that members of the community are making. Show them how this fandom isn't just composed of a bunch of "man-children" or "perverts", but people who find enjoyment and a form of escapism from a wonderfully written cartoon, and are even taking time out of their day to show how much they appreciate the series by creating masterpieces like this very song. Keep at it, bud. Hopefully we'll get more members of the herd this way Edited June 18, 2013 by Keiichi 1 Rabbit-Kin ~Paris' Waifu
rouge_wind 8 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 wow this is pretty good especially scince my own parents dont think to highly on our fandom. i may have to give this a shot, though i wouldent say that the author is anon or that the title of the song is lost. 1 All right everypony, line up alphabetically according to your height. ~Casey Stengel link to my oc is in the signature. sister of oc terra bendr signature was created by the most awesome-tastic person: kyoshi

I'm hoping for the best and that your family will see we're not as bad as they think I will say that IS a really beautiful song though :3 I was a bit worried about this possibly backfiring on me, that's why I extended on my plan. First off, understand that my dad's "finest" argument against Bronies was "if your friends aren't doing it." Ignorance aside, if that's what he's going to use against me, then I'm going to use it against him. In other words, I'll convert some friends of mine by starting with the music, then moving on to a few episodes, then finally revealing it to my parents, who, of course, I'll be showing more Brony music anonymously. That's my plan. Nice. Does your mom play? Did you get her to play it? You should try to get her to play it in a performance setting. And I definitely agree that you should get more pieces and show them to her too. See how many you can get her to like before you reveal the awful truth My mom does play the piano, but not very well. So, no, she couldnt play it. I'll definitely show her more Brony music (anonymously of course). Also, what do you mean "awful truth"? This is the awesome truth!

First off, understand that my dad's "finest" argument against Bronies was "if your friends aren't doing it." Wait, what?! Aren't you supposed to not just ape your friends? "So, if your friends all decided to jump off a cliff, you would too?" That's probably what he'd say if all your friends were bronies. Anyway, nice work, you Magnificient Bastard. *(\ <---my first time actually using that, lol.
FoxyCryptid 4,330 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 (edited) I've been tempted to that with this song, it's actually better than a lot of actual professionally recorded and sold music I've heard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksn91wXHgx8 Why isn't youtube embedding working for me? Jokuc 8,173 June 18, 2013 Share June 18, 2013 I forgot to say, I have actually done similar things, but to to my mom. This was one of the way I introduced one of my friends to the fandom, at first he thought I was really weird for liking mlp and once I showed him a song without telling him it was mlp related. He loved it and well it all ended up with him becoming a brony. And I also did the same thing for one of my hater-friends. He loved the song. Then when I said it was fanmade mlp song

I'm guessing based on personal experience that he said something like "oh, I thought it was good" or some dense comment like that.
Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 June 19, 2013 Share June 19, 2013 Wow I don't really know what to say to this. On one hoof, I think it's freaking hilariously awesome, on the other, it might end badly since both of your parents are apparently against you being a Brony. Oh well, I think it's cool and funny, so more power to you. The power of Brony music cannot be combated, even by non-Bronies! 1 #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims
