God I hope Derpy puts this in the right section

Hello my darlings,

I was thinking hey, I should see and hear what everypony's passions are in life.

Well since I created this I'll go first. My passion in life is severe weather, I have been ever since I was a kid. What I'm guessing what got me into severe weather is when I saw this giant storm rotating above my house. It was really the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, though I was a kid and I sort of freaked out alot when lightning struck my house, and literately it did, it fried my PS2 from the inside and I was pissed about it. Moving on now lol. Anyway, over the years I've been fascinated by weather and it's abilities to create such powerful storms. I never saw a tornado until 2011 when I lived up in Denton, TX. As a tornado was a few hundred yards infront of me but it was a weak tornado img-1575528-1-sad.png . A Funnel was spinning above me house while the tornado sirens were going off and I tell ya, the adrenaline was rushing through my blood than I have ever felt before. It was truely an amazing feeling, before 2011 I started studying in Meteorology in 2010. I really didn't get into it until 9th grade. I'm a Junior now in High School and about to get my drivers license. Meteorology is one of the greatest thing's that I truely knew what I wanted to do for a living. I'm not talking about working in the studios and be the "Weather Man" guy. I want to be out there in the field and be a Storm Chaser. I want to be in the elements and experience the true meaning of weather which is all the dangers of it.

I'm willing to take the risks even if it means one day a tornado will kill me while I'm chasing. I'd rather die storm chasing than die getting a bullet in my head.

From the end of 2012, Like November to now I've been working with other chasers, meteorologists and scientists. I'm part of a research team called JWSevereWeather or by it's other name Team Phoenix. It's a group of Meteorologists, Storm Chasers and Scientists. What we do is we chase  mainly on Moderate and High Risk days issued by the Noaa, NWS SPC. As of 2013 I'm an OFFICIAL Storm Spotter for the NWS Service which is called SKYWARN.

The whole deal about being a Storm Spotter is to call in reports regarding the storm such as strong winds excess of 65 mph+, large hail, flooding, funnel, tornado on the ground etc.

When you report any of those things but some are specific for example, when you report a tornado on the ground you must give this information when you call it in into 911.

Your Location, Storm direction and speed, how far the tornado is from a town (if near one)

like this: Hi my name is so and so, I'm a trained storm spotter and I'm reporting a tornado on the ground 5 miles east of Norman,OK moving NE at 30 mph. i'm just outside of Norman on the I-35  Exit 288.

You see what I mean? Anyway when you report a storm, it has to be ACCURATE. False information can get you into alot of trouble. So please, if your a storm spotter now/ chaser. Please give accurate information. That would be appreciated.

What we do out in the field is to do our jobs. One of our main goals is to help in the warning process.

We have a Tornado Siren/ PA system inside one of our chase vehicles. Here's a picture

img-1575528-2-y7tv.jpg

The purpose of this system inside the car is that when we are out chasing for example, if there are cars on the road that are driving into something they can't see, we turn on our system and warn them to pull over. The siren is loud enough for the other people to hear. If you've ever watched Storm Chasers on Discovery channel, the TIV 2 has a system exactly like it, just a different make.

Also, if we are driving through towns that don't have a siren.. like small towns and I mean small towns of like 500 people, and a tornado is going to head for their location we sound our siren and warn people to take shelter and they do just that.

In the United States there are certain states that NEVER take care to warnings because they have gotten tornado warnings and then nothing happens. It's very common on super cells that are not strong enough to put down a tornado because from what we know is that some super cells produce tornadoes while others don't which causes this. Unlike states in the south like Texas, Mississippi, Alabama etc, take these warnings VERY Seriously as I believe every state should take these warnings seriously no matter the situation because these warnings can and will save your life.

Alot of people have been killed because of their lack of care to these warnings.

As these warnings are lised: Flash Flood warning, Tornado Warning, Severe T-STORM Warning, Tornado Emergency. Hurricane warning etc.

I believe all those warnings should be taken very very seriously. Especially the Tornado Emergency, Tornado Warning and Hurricane Warning.

There's a difference though between Tornado Warning and Tornado Emergency which some of you may not even know it.

Tornado Warning is a indication on radar that the storm is capable of producing a tornado any time while a Tornado Emergency states that a Tornado is on the ground moving into the area directly. That warning should NEVER and i mean NEVER be shrugged off. A Tornado is heading into town and that's all it's going to do. Your life is at stake when this warning is issued by the NWS.

I've heard of them being issued to several towns. Like Greensburg,KS. Joplin,MO. Macon,MS. Tuscaloosa,AL. St.Louis,MO. And I've heard many more, but you get the point.

If you ever get caught in these kinds of situations, please don't try and out run any storm. It's impossible. However, the people in the Oklahoma City Metro try to outrun these powerful storms such as 5/31/13 when the storm passed over. It was one of the biggest storms I've ever seen in my entire career. It wasn't a super cell. It was a Super Storm like Hurricane Sandy but on steroids.

Here's a pict of the traffic jam taken by Dick McGowan in who is part of the TVN Team.

img-1575528-3-624y.jpg

The Highway was extremely packed to where both sides of the highway were covered in traffic. That's how bad it can get when you try to evacuate a city like Oklahoma City. I was watching live coverage of the storm on KFOR OK. The storms rotation was over a Mile wide. I received this Base Velocity signature by one of my meteorologists.

img-1575528-4-wr2h.jpg

That whole thing is the rotation which was south of El Reno,OK and very close to Union City,OK.

That was one of the strongest rotations that we have ever seen. The storm's intensity was something we have never experienced. Chasers of 20+ years of experience were fleeing from this storm because of how powerful it was. Here's a picture of Dominator 2's hood missing.

img-1575528-5-plrg.png

The Dominator has tons of armor plating on it. Built to intercept tornadoes, but this tornado was un interceptable. The pressure drop inside of the monster was unbelievable, your ears would of bled if you tried to intercept it. Not even TIV2 could intercept it either. Everyone was running from this storm, and that picture of Dominator 2's hood missing gives you a idea to back the *squee* off.

It was stronger than the Moore.OK Tornado, but the Moore,OK tornado was the most destructive that Oklahoma has seen in a very long time. Moore,OK alone in 2 weeks was hit 3 times after the EF-5 that hit Moore,OK a week before that.

This picture was by the Basehunters chase team. They captured the tornado's structure.

img-1575528-6-k7e0.jpg

This monster was a combination of 3 EF5's together in 1 beast. The winds were 260+ I think. But Moore,OK got torn up and I'm still shocked by the damage that it caused.

May 31st, 2013. When the El Reno struck, not only did it do damage, but it took lives of people. Including Tim and Paul Samaras including Carl Young who were part of a team called; Team Twistex.

This was their car when it was found.

img-1575528-7-7vww.jpg

You can't even tell what it is anymore. It was a Chevy Cobalt.

Tim was found in his car, with the seatbelt still on but Paul and Carl were thrown from the vehicle when one was found in a ditch up the road. Their car was thrown half a mile when it was picked up and tossed like a toy. This tells you that Storm Chasing is very dangerous no matter who you are.

Tim and his team were the most safest, most determined storm chasers ever. But it comes to show that even if your a safe storm chaser, you can get killed just as quick. img-1575528-8-sad.png

That's all I really got to say other than no matter what the dangers are. I'm still gonna full fill my dream as a Meteorologist and Storm Chaser(Though I already am one now)

Now, what is your passion?img-1575528-9-wacko.png

And please give me your opinions on what I had to say here.

Thanks smile.png

Man, I'm not even going to bother posting anything, I'm just incredibly boring in comparison to you.

That's such a cool job, and fascinating too.

My passion are cars, I have always loved cars and planned my whole life around cars. I basically life for cars, work for cars and I don't think about anything else but cars. I obsess over cars and ponies too of course. My passion for cars is why I aim high in life. Only reason I want to become rich is because of cars. I plan on collecting a lot of cars, I just love cars. I have had this passion ever since I first remember myself. Have always been behind the wheel or inside a car. My only childhood memories are connected with cars. Otherwise I wouldn't remember anything from my childhood. I'm just a huge car lover, love almost all cars. They keep me going, they give me a purpose in life. They are why I'll work hard all my life, they give me goals in life. Without cars my life would be pointless, they make life worth living. I'm very passionate about cars, I often don't talk about anything else. I plan on buying a BMW M6 2006 and a Lamborghini Aventador as well as a Dodge Challenger 1970 R/T and other muscle cars as well as tons of tuners and some other sport cars. I could talk endlessly about my love for cars. So I'm going to stop myself here.

I'm also interested in weather although it"s not my passion I still like it. Tornados and stuff are cool, but I have never seen one in real life though. So good luck with your storm chasing.

Honestly, I have no fucking clue what my passion is.

At first it used to be tornadoes, then the Titanic, then tornadoes agian, then 9/11 (I don't even...), agian with tornadoes, then with ships sinking in general, then every other storm that exists, then more ships sinking, and now I guess.... gaming?

I am super obsessed with transit buses. I prefer ones made by New Flyer, and of those, I like the ones from the 90s, the older the better. I know way too much about them for being a regular civilian. tongue.png I literally have gone on for a couple hours with the maintenance manager local BC Transit garage here talking about buses when I went to get my practicum set up. Needless to say, they were happy to let me come be free labour for a few weeks. However I'm slowly learning to shut up about it since no one gives a crap about it and generally gets me laughed at. I don't know how or why this all started, but what I do know is that when I started HD/CT mechanics, one of the first things I noticed was a 1991 NFI D40 off in a corner in the yard. I've had experience working on all sorts of vehicles, from excavators and skidsteers, to dump and tractor trucks. But after all that, the bus is still my favourite. So much so that I'm going to make a career out of it, hence my member title. Even my sig is a replica of an old bus destination sign. Here, have a look, these are all my photos that I took at school: http://rotw.ca/images/bus_photos

That's a really cool job that you got there. smile.png I used to be interested in meteorology when I was younger but for whatever reason that interest isn't there anymore.

My passions in life are roller coasters and Music. (the second one might sound really cliche, but hang on.)

Ever since I turned 6 I've been obsessed with Roller coasters.  I don't know what it is about them, maybe it's the speed, or the height, or the crazy twists and turns all focused around one simple force.  What really got me into roller coasters was a picture of Son of Beast at Kings Island.  That image is still in my mind.  Even before I rode any roller coasters I had been interested in them.  I took it upon myself to learn all the facts about all the roller coasters in Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan, and to learn more about the manufactures as well.  I can now tell you any fact about any coaster in Ohio and Indiana.  I can also tell you the history of Roller coasters.  I started really riding coasters in 2003.  I was so freaked out by my first I took a hiatus from riding anymore until 2009.  Throughout that time though, I read all the books in my schools library on Roller coasters and watched countless documentaries on the history of certain theme parks and on roller coasters in general.  Around 2001 I got the first Roller coaster tycoon game.  I stayed up countless nights to work on creating parks and roller coasters.  I got the other two games when they came out.  I then moved on to other software, such as NO Limits.  Which is still a very highly used software on my computer.

Now for music. (this may sound cliche)

Music has become a major part of my life during the last few years.  I was a very anti-social individual, until I began learning guitar.  My parents had played in a Christian group called Pacem so my family was very musical.  Music in my life got started through a failed idea.  My friends and me were in a instrumental music class together, and we were learning piano.  I had already learned to play some piano, so I pretty much excelled in that class.  It was a very basic class and I was already probably considered a fairly good piano player.  Anyways, Noah (one of my friends, Not using real names) wanted to form a band.  He assigned us instruments.  I was assigned to learn guitar, Joe bass, and Kyle drums.  I was quick to buy my instrument in 2009, a fender Squire. (not a very good guitar but...)  I started learning basic chords and soloing techniques and songs like in-a-gadda-da-vida and rock you like a hurricane, and Sunshine of your love and I was getting pretty good.  My family was especially surprised in how fast I picked it up.  I took no lessons, and I was quickly playing some fairly difficult songs.  The band idea eventually ended so I was left with a guitar and some drive to learn more.  I started playing with my churches youth chior, and began working on singing.  Before that I couldn't sing a note. I practiced guitar, piano, trombone, drums, bass, and flute, and apparently got very good at them.  Now I am in a band, though It's just two people.  I want to be in a group that does every genre and becomes fairly well-known.  I also record music.  Honestly, music is my life.

That's really cool, I used to play RCT 1, 2, and 3 for hours on end too. :) I've never even heard of No Limits before...is it better than RCT?

My passion is teaching! I have my teaching degree, and I love to inspire young minds. It's always so rewarding when a lightbulb goes off in their heads and they finally understand something. I cannot explain how rewarding it is to watch a child learn and grasp the concepts of the world around them.

That's really cool.Well it's more realistic then RCT.  You can only make roller coasters and scenery, but how you do it is really cool.

There are no restrictions to what you can do.  You also have the choice of making your own supports and stuff to fully customize your ride.

launnch2.jpgYou start by designing your coaster in the design software you get from buying the game.  Then you can open up simulation mode.

Sports.  I spend hours a day watching them and studying them almost as an academic subject.  Unfortunately, it's next to impossible to get a job working in that field unless you have connections or are willing to work 80 hour weeks for an $18,000 a year salary in inside sales for several years, so I'm relegated to simply being a fan and discussing sports with other people that are just as obsessed as I am.  Also, related to OP, that's pretty cool.  My best buddy is a meteorologist, he doesn't do storm chasing or anything, but does a lot of severe weather stuff

Mountian biking. It's got to be my passion, sure I got gaming, but video games can't replicate the rush you get whizzing by trees at 10-50Kmph. it's just fun.

I've been riding a bike ever since I could walk,  I've gone through probably a dozen or so bikes in my life time.Sure, there's a pretty hefty buy in fee for a nice bike. But it's well worth the cash. Sure the bikes me and my friends ride cost more then some cars or a down payment on a house, but it's worth it!.

My usual trails consist of forests and conservation areas, and sometimes maintained bike parks, which include various obstacles/features on the trail such as teeter-totters,wall rides, berms, high rises, board walks, tables, drops and jumps...some are natural and made from dirt, others are made out of wood.

I can't ever understand those who are obsessed with severe weather. To me severe weather is awful, and I'd love to move to somewhere where it is a rarity. I hate living with the constant fear that during the Spring there's a chance I'll lose my house, belongings, loved ones, my life, etc.

As for my passion... I hate to say it, but I don't know anymore. Obviously, I'm passionate about wind instruments, but I don't know about my ability.

My passions in life are soccer and japanese cars. Ever since I was 10 I was interested in cars, but the weird thing is that it was ONLY japanese cars. If you mention a bugatti or an aston martin, I wouldn't have cared less. Until this day, I've been planning on what car to get, what to do with it, etc. Only bad part of my passion for japanese cars is that it fuels my need for racing, and I'm not talking about on the track or on a video game. On the other hand I watched soccer ever since the 2006 world cup. I just watched some random countries(brazil, spain, uruguay, and japan to be exact). Luckily, those countries had world class players, and that got me hooked. For now I'm only a fan, soon I might actually start playing the sport.

And then came the ponies...

Music is a my biggest passion. I've been doing music ever since I was four years old.

When I was little, I loved to listen to all music. I couldn't go without a minute without some form of music being on. I even went as far as naming the instruments that were playing.

When I was 4 years old, I started piano in a Yamaha program that taught sol faige (do re mi fa so la ti).

I continued to do piano up until now.

I then picked up the saxophone, alto to start. It wasn't that hard to switch. Me, being the smart one, take out one of piano books and convert it to saxophone. I then go an play it in concert pitch.

I even went as far as playing this beast: post-8804-0-83536600-1371734105_thumb.jpg

One big thing I learned to do was play by ear.

I can play over 30 songs by ear on the piano.

I then picked up guitar

My very first piece I learned on guitar (which in fact, was by ear) was the intro to Knights of Cydonia.

Here's the guitar I have: post-8804-0-74710200-1371734217_thumb.jpg

Here's the amplifier I have: post-8804-0-97787900-1371734400_thumb.jpg

And here's the pedal I run these through: post-8804-0-65600800-1371734479_thumb.jpg

In 2010, I got my first composing software, Finale Printmusic 2010. I wasn't that very good at composing, but once I was able to "see" and "hear" what I want to do, I mastered it in a matter of time.

Recently, I obtained the newest of my music composing software, Finale 2012. This is the ultimate composing software, as it provides an instrument database with real-sounding instruments.

And that's my passion.

my passion must be my aprilia RS50

i've been interested in everything about street bikes and motoGP since i first saw one of those things on tv. i emediately bought a scale model of an yamaha yzf M1 in the color scheme of valentino rossi.

i still have that thing on a little display in my room. it's one of the most cherised things i own. and i bought my first moped not long after.

it was a standard puch maxi with it's standard setup and 50cc engine. not very fast or anything, it topped out on 60 Km/h. but it was fast enough for the then 12 year old me.

after the puch i owned 2 other puch maxi's , then 3 tomos A35's. and then i started to tune them.

my latest tomos had a top of 80 Km/h instead of the standard 30, and it looked badass! i have a picture of that little tomos with my aprilia on my pc somewhere, i'll have to find it first.

then i bought my first bike with diffrent gears. it was a honda MT8. i soon changed it's setup to a 100cc cylindric kit, with 21mm dellorto carb. that thing scared me shitless ohmy.png it went about 110 Km/h and it pulled wheelie's in it's first and second gear.

i sold that beast quicker then i wanted, but i got something WAY better back for it.

that would be my current beasty. a aprilia rs50 with 70cc cylindric, custom heavyer flywheel and crackshaft weights. custom gearwheel allignment and larger gears for more speed without many loss of power.

this thing is beautiful.

it pulls to 150 Km/h in about 7 seconds.

and it's still a moped!

i'll upload a photo of it in an edit.

here she is! it's the orange one

the black and white one is my brother's derbi senda and the little red one is the tomos that makes 80 Km/h

with my brothers derbi

and with my little tomos XD

I haven't really chosen a favorite club at the moment. But AC Milan looks like they're gonna have a bright future. But my top three players are David Villa, El Shaarawy, and Kaka. No specific order by the way. Don't worry, I hate Chelsea, the Manchester clubs I don't really have a problem with, but I really don't care about them. No offense but come to think of it, Arsenal and Valencia are alike because they unfortunately lose some if their extremely talented players. But Arsenal has some quality players, especially Cazorla. I was actually hoping Arsenal would win Villa, he's a nasty forward

Oof, avoid Italian soccer if you can. Stylistically, it's incredibly boring, and it's shot through with corruption and horrible racism. Also Milan's owner is *probably* a pedophile.

No need to remind me of our tendency to sell off good players (8 years and counting ;_;), hopefully that's coming to an end now that the Emirates is paid off though. Rumor is that we're getting Rooney this summer, and we've got a solid core of young talent building up that will be great if we can keep them. I wish we could have gone in for Falcao though, that's really the big piece we're missing, a center forward that's just a pure poacher.

God these forums are a pain to use on a phone

Oh lordy that emoticon wreaked havoc on that part of the post. I gotta get used to this. Also this character limit is straight up killing me right now

Movies. Both viewing them and making them. I've always like movies, but it was around 2007, when I really discovered the internet, that I began sucking up all the movies I could get my hands on.

The only downside is that I can't really watch a movie without looking at it as a critic. This annoys many people around me.

LITERATURE! The written word, prose, poetry-- all things spawned from pen and ink. When a story comes together perfectly, and a meaning becomes defined. . . God, there's nothing better.

God these forums are a pain to use on a phoneOh lordy that emoticon wreaked havoc on that part of the post. I gotta get used to this. Also this character limit is straight up killing me right now

Really? Haha. Don't worry, its just El Shaarawy that I really like. Rooney as a gunner? Quite an odd siight if you ask me, but I thought the same when he who shall not be named left to Man United. So, hopefully Arsenal get Rooney, for the sake of all you gunners out there ;)

I'd also like to add that I'm almost 100% positive Wilshere will stay at Arsenal. By the way, didn't Crystal Palace win a bunch of money because of promotion? Now a Ligue 1 statement. C'mon gloryhunters, time to jump onto the AS Monaco wagon!

Yeah, Italy is famous for fan sections called "ultras" that are basically neo-nazis, they make monkey noises at African players and throw bananas at them and shit, it's really ugly (they're also basically gangs, they'll attack and try to kill fans of other teams).  Milan actually abandoned a friendly in protest earlier this year because opposing fans were targeting racist chants at Kevin Prince-Boateng.  And like half of the teams in Serie A have been involved in some sort of corruption scandal in the last 6 or 7 years.  The current league holders played much of the season without their manager who was serving a suspension for match fixing when he was with a team in the lower division.  Italian soccer is kind of a shitshow all around

Yeah, I'm holding on to hope that we get him.  United is trying to get rid of him because he and their new manager don't get along, but he can go anywhere he likes so it will definitely be a struggle to keep him from going to Real, or Barca, or PSG, or one of the other English giants

Hope so, between him, Aaron Ramsey, Ox and Walcott, we've got a great core of young talent, hopefully we actually keep all of them

Yeah, Crystal Palace are flush with money now, but so were QPR last year and that didn't end up so well.  They finished the season with the same number of wins as red cards

As long as it isn't PSG.  My brother is a Montpelier fan though, since he used to live there

My passion is the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, camping, just taking a walk through the forest is amazing to me. Nothing beats sitting with my back against a tree during fall. Just being out there, away from all the excitement and technology, thinking about how my ancestors lived. Getting down to bare minimum, a bow and knife, and just becoming part of the land.

My passion has been in the video game industry, honestly.

Since I was 6, I was always entertained by a good video game. From Pokemon Red to Team Fortress 2.

But soon after, I became interested in a very different part of the industry; the design of the games.

I have been tracing out plans for things I may possibly endeavor in the future, and all that.

I also have a small passion for Music, writing, and even *(I admit)* art, saying I admit because of my Rainbow Dash drawing in the "Rainbow Dash sketch" thread.

Music came from playing tuba for a few years. I would submit a picture of my tuba, but I don't have one. It's old as heck, but sounds great.

Writing? I have written my own form of poetry, not as many times as Shakespeare wrote sonnets though.

Drawing came from a like of "playing god."
