Do tanks count? I do hope tanks count.

My favorite American weapon is the M4 Sherman Grizzly. Although historically they were crap, there's something about them that just makes me squee internally.

Although I don't like the way war is fought normally, which is send in an army and let things get as ugly as necessary, I do like the snipers. Why? They're a little like janitors, because they do tough work under the radar.  It is tough, not glorified, and a useful utility. That makes me like them more than the regular run-and-gun front-line troop. Therefore I like the Springfield M1903A3 because it's a sniper rifle.

M1 Garand

- Love the way it looks

- Good accuracy

- Powerful

- It's only weakness is the ping when it's out of ammo, and I think it adds to the charm

Every time I play a WWII game, I always go out of my way to get that rifle

I went with the M1911 for its simple, elegant design.  They're still in use, but they're not issued very widely.  The M9 is far more common...easier to train/maintain, but arguably less effective.  I have small hands, so I'm not sure I would be able to use the M1911 as easily as the M9 but meh.

Also, I have a funny feeling the nuclear debate will spiral into its own discussion.  Not sure if there's already a thread for that.  Either way, should be a thought-provoking tussle at best, or an entertaining travesty at worst.

Curse this poll for not allowing me to select more than one, curse you!!! ohmytiaplz.png?1

The M1Garand and Springfield are my favorite rifles of all time during WWII but in the end the Springfield is closer to my heart. The Garand and Springfield have many things I love about them but what takes the cake is the Springfield's glorious bolt action and method of reloading. There's just something more personal to me when I slide the bolt back after each shot and manually load in .30-06 rounds one at a time. Sure, I can't shove in ammo and shots as fast as an M1 but I like having full control over a reliable weapon.

P.S. Where's the sexy Ithaca M37 Trench Gun and M2 Flamethrower? twiwhatilearnedplz.jpg?1

I mean sure they're not as popular as the other weapons but they still hold a special place in my heart.

The 1911 has way more stopping power, but holds less rounds, the M9 has less stopping power, but more rounds, I'd pick the 1911 any day.

I would say Garand. I *admittably* am a huge sucker for long and powerful rifles

I also love the sights on that thing. They are amazing.

It also has an extreme amount of firepower as well for its magazine capacity.

If this were any WW2 weapon?

STG-44 would take the cake. It was the first ever assault rifle, and quite a powerful one to add.

  • 4 weeks later...

I don't like things that bring death.

So none.

War sucks.

I don't like envisioning fields of death and destruction.

It makes me physically sick.

Without death, we would not be here. In WWII and WWII (I think Korea) we fought and bled for our freedom, they died so you could be free and happy, they made sure that they won, for you, to live like this, if that didn't happen, I would not like to know what would of happened.

the M1911A1 created by John M browning right here in my home state of utah, plus i got to fire one yesterday, authentic WW2 M1911, but other than that, im going to have to go with....the crocodile flame tank, basically a sherman with a flamethrower instead of a cannon.

beacuse everypony knows Plan B: kill it with fire.
