I would agree that bringing in the Mane 6 isn't really a smart idea. Though there is one thing I was thinking of.

When the 2 Princesses heard of the zombie apocolapse, they immediately sealed off Canterlot in a protective bubble and brought as many ponies as possible until the trotters completely surrounded the place, which prevented anypony from getting in.
