The voice he heard again seemed closer this time, but it didn't look like whatever was doing it was inside the building. He kept ignoring it though and tried his best to sleep, murmuring out a few words to himself.

"I already know what happened to her.. Reminding me does nothing anymore."

Slowly Zeta picked up his body and moved it away from any windows into a corner where 2 walls met. Hopefully he was safe there for the time being, but that was a guess.

Right now he wasn't in the mood to talk, so he refrained from replying to Ghost but remembered the name Zycrin.

Josh was still writing and knew he would need a book about more herbs and medicines to expand his armory of cures 

it was at the moment that the book grand was reading hit the floor he walked into the room she was 

seeing the shocked expression on her face he tried to talk to her "grand whats up? u look pale"

Grand tossed and turned in her bed, but only slept for a few minutes at a time. This miysterious pony seemed to delight in torturing and tormenting his foes. How he seems to know her history baffled her. she decided to look around the bell tower instead, as sleeping seemed to evade her. she looked through the mayors books and records, and found one listing all of the ponies who lived in ponyville in the last 5 years. she sat down with it and started to flip through it, remembering several of the faces, but several were crossed out with the word bitten scrawled on them. the mayor must have been keeping track. suddenly it hit her. she skipped to her family and looked at the pictures. scrawled across her mothers face was the word "EATEN" in red letters. Grand dropped the book in shock.

Ghost heard a loud thud coming from the other end of the tower. It seemed to have came from Grand's room. Worried, Ghost transported to Grand's room through his dust cloud and spoke to her in a calming voice. She seemed to be in utter shock. "Grand, What happened??"

This was the chance he had been waiting for. "Zeta... of course you know what happened, but you never found out who. Does her life not mean enough to you, that you do not even want to know who killed her. Such a shame that you think your wife's life was worthless and forfeit. Such a shame".

Grand shook her head and simply tossed the book over to him. she could barely speak. finding outin such a cruel and distant way hurt her more than anything. knowing that her mother was in the stomach of some monster made her nauseous and she ran to the nearest washroom

This was the chance he had been waiting for. "Zeta... of course you know what happened, but you never found out who. Does her life not mean enough to you, that you do not even want to know who killed her. Such a shame that you think your wife's life was worthless and forfeit. Such a shame".

"Sad.. Considering if you know somepony who knew the killer by heart, they would of told you." Zeta mumbled to himself again.

The voice was something he wasn't concerned of, though he was getting slightly annoyed of it since it prevented him from sleeping.

I just happen to know that somepony, who tried her best to comfort me before this outbreak happened..

Josh stared at the book for a second until it sunk in what he was looking at 

"oh... my..... grand I-I am so sorry you shouldn't have had to figure it out that way"

Josh gave the book to ghost who had just arrived

"you should sit down or something grand if you go into shock you could collapse and injure yourself"

Grand shook her head and simply tossed the book over to him. she could barely speak. finding outin such a cruel and distant way hurt her more than anything. knowing that her mother was in the stomach of some monster made her nauseous and she ran to the nearest washroom

Ghost looked through the book with caution. He saw everything. He noticed the big "EATEN" words over Grand's mom's picture. Ghost lowered his head in shame. "I... I was wrong." Ghost then walked slowly out of the room. He couldn't believe she was dead. That Grand had to find out in such a terrible way.

Grand returned, and composed herself " No, Its really a good thing. at least I know that shes gone and I dont have to continue hoping" she said tightly." and the pictures of my father and my sister are still clean. that means they may still be alive. perhaps Thunder may want to see it though, just in case. or perhaps she doesnt." she flipped to the picture of the mayor herself, which had the word "SUICIDE" crudely written. looked like the mayor couldnt handle it

Lady bat the sleep from her eyes and gazed out the window until her blurred vision regained it's focus. "It's still dark out..." She whispered to herself as she watched the twinkling stars for a moment more. She then jumped off the bed and made her way to the others. "What's going on?" She asked as she studied everyponies horrified expression.

Josh sat down "will i take the book up to thunder? ill leave it up to you if she should see this" 

he went to the bookshelves and started to look for any books on herbs or medicine that he had not yet seen in his travels

Ghostly sat in the middle of the town in sorrow. Grand's mother probably died long ago... and he wasn't there to save her. Some hero he was. He just met this girl and got her hopes up on finding her mom only to find out that she was dead all along. He did remember seeing her sister and father's pictures clean. Maybe they're hiding out in Appaloosa...

Lady bat the sleep from her eyes and gazed out the window until her blurred vision regained it's focus. "It's still dark out..." Zeta's eyes opened up as he watched Lady walk into the room with all the other ponies. Seeing that something may be wrong, he got back up and limped behind her.

"If you ask what's going on, there is a situation with Grand, and there is a situation with that one pony who's been probably following you guys for a while. I suspect he was the one who shot me in the shoulder come to think about it."

Grand forced a smile. "I think thunder can decide for herself" she said taking the book. " and who knows? This thing might prove to be useful" she decided not to flip through it again. " I'll go take it to her" she said, heading to thunders room. At least her sister might still be alive

Zycrin had spotted Ghost in the middle of the town, and decided to have some fun. "Ghost... Why so sad ghost, what has happened, is there a problem you cannot fix. Wait, that's right, You get another ponies hopes up, only to have them smashed to pieces, some hero you are my old friend. What makes you think her father and sister are safe. What makes you think they are in Appaloosa, do you want her hopes to be smashed again, do you want her to feel this pain again. What a hero, he cannot even protect one little pony. You are pathetic Ghost, and before the sun sets tomorrow, you will fail another pony again". After this Zycrin teleported off into the darkness, vanishing completely.

"alright good luck with that i hope it is good news for Thunder" Josh said with a smile he looked out of the window and saw the first light coming into view on the horizen

so he decided to go up to the roof and watch the sun rise as he finished writing in his note book

Grand walked over to thunder" this book might tell you about what happened to your family" she said quietly. "But it's pretty harsh so if you would rather not then I can take it away" she said. She hoped thunders family was still okay. She didn't want anyone to feel the way she did.

Zeta stood up on two hooves and stretched outward with his front left one, starting to get ready if Lady ever does go out.

Those words sank in, and Ghost didn't like it. He felt like he failed Grand, like he let her down. He promised himself that he wouldn't do it again at that moment. As the sun rose on the horizon, Ghost walked back into the tower. "Don't worry, Grand. We'll find them... I know we will"

Grand put the book at thunders hooves and smiled at Ghost. "I think so too. And please don't beat yourself up about it, the chances if everyone being alive we're slim to none. It's not like it was really much of a surprise." She thought about all of the ponies who watched their loved ones die. She couldn't even imagine how that must feel

Lady frowned and took a seat next to Zeta. "No, it's fine. You need rest and I'm sure she needs space." Shy murmered lowly. "So how are you holding up? The arm I mean... I noticed you let Josh treat it. Is it feeling any better?" The magical mare was wide awake now, as was everyone else apparently.

As morning came and it got brighter josh searched around the roof of the tower for a plank of wood 

when he found it he pulled out a flip knife flipped out the blade and slowly started to carve into the wood with the old looking knife 

as he did this he started to think about his family

Grand put the book at thunders hooves and smiled at Ghost. "I think so too. And please don't beat yourself up about it, the chances if everyone being alive we're slim to none. Ghost then took off his mask and looked Grand in the eye. "I take on the Ghost persona for only one reason; to keep ponies from suffering the way I did. You only lost your mom. Me, I lost EVERYTHING. I have nothing left. We'll find your father and sister, even if we have to cover the entire world, only because I don't want to see you suffer any more than you just did."

Grand looked at him sadly. " don't put that pressure on yourself. If anything you should want to help yourself. I can't imagine losing everything. Don't worry about me, I still have something to hope for. If your going to help me find what I'm looking for, let me help you find something to look for" she said, trying to comfort him to the best of her abilities
