What gender would the foal of Cadence and Shining be?

Okay so now that Kate and Prince William had a child. and Shining Armor and Cadence pretty much are based off these two (see the royal wedding). So now that Kate had a baby shouldn't Cadence do the same, I am pretty sure Hasbro Would miss a chance to gain money like this . also since Shining and Cadence are a Married couple they need to have a foal at some point.

 

Now enough of that as most of you know the royal baby is a boy. so shouldn't Cadence and Shining's foal also be a colt? Well that would make sense but what about the Skyla dolls? Also I am pretty sure Hasbro would rather have a filly to gain money and this could be proven with Trixie being originally a stallion but Hasbro changed it into a Mare. But it could be twins but that idea is already used with the cakes.

 

So I don't know . what do you think?

I'm going to say both because I think they should have nonidentical twins and have one of each. Also real horses can have 2 foals so it's not exactly farfetched. But ofc it's upto Hasbro, and who knows if they even will have foals or not.

I think if it was only Hasbro's decision again - like Cadance - they'd let it be a filly. I mean, Skyla is already there as merch, so why not?

 

They obviously don't think that male characters could be more important in the show. Spike was simply there from the beginning and Discord's return was a huge fanservice.

 

Hasbro seems to think that it have to be female characters - and in best case princesses - that little girls should and want to identify with. Which is not really a mistake because the crew from DHX make them not as cliched as they could be, girls tend to automatically identify with female individuals and the image of a princess as a role model is pretty old thanks to fairytales, Disney and so on. Even though the latter was "reformed" by the show.

 

But I'd also say let it be twins, a colt and a filly. Equality, you know. What brings up the next question: If they have a colt, will he be an alicorn? And if they have twins - a colt and a filly - will both be alicorns? I hope so.

 

But then again... Will it even happen at all?

me thinks it would be a filly..........

as for the reason i choose this is mostly becoz:

1. the show tends to be more matriarchal in nature

2. the show is meant for little girls thus hasbro tends to add more females (more chances for the little girls to have a emotional bond with)

3. fillies i think would sell more than colts

I also think it would more than likely be a filly rather than a colt. As Lunas Sorrow said, it would sell more, especially if it were an Alicorn filly (nvm all the crazy theories people would make about how Alicorns come to be). I would personally prefer if they had two nonidentical twins rather than just one tho.

I say filly because it's an alicorn baby.  I've never seen a male alicorn.  Then again, I've never seen the child of an alicorn either.  I still say it's going to be a filly because it's Hasbro.  Nine-tenths of the show are mares.  We'll have to wait and see.  It might not even be an alicorn.  It could be a unicorn or a pegasus.  I think earth pony is out of the question, but then again.  Who knows.  There might not even be a baby.

As already been stated the show's target demographic is a very young female audience, so it would probably make sense for Hasbro to make it a Filly.

The kid's probably a girl.  I would love that they'd get a boy, like the real royal couple had, but hasbro probably won't think that'll sell.  I don't see them doing both either, since we already had the cake twins.  Adding other twins as babies would make it too common.

To be honest, the gender could go either way. I personally think that the two should have twins. It would show that alicorns could be born into this world rather than them having to die first, like Twilight did.

I would love if they had a colt... I know that Hasbro wants the show to be female-oriented, but you can have a show marketed towards little girls that still has male characters, especially if it was just a baby. Everybody loves babies, no matter what gender. There are like...two male characters, and I just wish there were more.

I think they would have a colt since, it would be pretty good for them to have a colt but we don't know for sure yet until Hasbro decides if they should have a foal or not yet.

After seeing the merchandise, it's a filly. I can't really imagine it as a colt somehow. How would it look like? And also, the name "Skyla" kind of gives the gender away.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Chrysalis will filly-nap her in this potential episode, in the same vein as the fairy tales Rumpelstiltskin and Rapunzel.
