im gonna start it with this song.

i like this song, i dont really feel like i have to sing its praises.

I really liked the subtle implications in the movie. Most people who watched it missed some of the important lessons because there was no "Dear Princess Celestia" moment.

For example, I've heard complaints about the scene where they became friends again because it happened too fast and out-of-the-blue. However, I liked that scene because it showed a major difference between our world and Equestria. We do so much online and rely so heavily on e-mail and social networks to keep up with our "friends," but in a way we've sorta garbled what it truly means to be a friend. I thought the scene represented the honesty of in-person communication and I was pleased by how quickly the characters accepted each other. Those who were upset probably didn't understand that true friendship is about both parties being honest to and trusting of each other. It's truly a special thing that exists in Equestria, but is missing from our present lives.

I also liked that Rainbow Dash wasn't a jerk for once. B)

I for one loved the movie to death! That's why I got it the day it came out.

Anyway there are a lot of good things to be said about the movie,

Music was great

The mane 6 looked good as humans(so did all the others, Celestia looked a little odd to me... -_-)

The plot a little off but ah I didn't mind.

The thing is a lot of bronies are going to hate on a lot of things, like clopping etc etc, as long as you love it! then fuck the haters!

It was a very good movie consideribg it was still targeted at littlw girls with way too many shout outs for me to even go into and it did go and prove

that even though twilight is a pincess that she still has to rely on all her friends as shown during the fight with demon shimmer

I'll summarize my opinions here the same way I've summarized them elsewhere:

MLP: EG is good in the same way as The Super Mario Bros. Movie. What I mean by that is this: I have a fondness for the Super Mario Bros. Movie, even into adulthood. I don't think it has remotely anything to do with Super Mario Brothers, my like for it, but rather, nostalgia (of course) and the fact that within its universe, it's a fun kids' action movie. Therefore, it's good, SEPARATE from its commercial tie-in.

EG, likewise: Good writing, one of my favorite songs, but I don't consider it all that much an MLP thing. It seems more to me like what they could have piloted as a legitimate high school themed cartoon. By tying the two together it felt like an exploitation. They could have just as well done this as a pilot episode of "Central Colt High" or something, and not made the characters "human Twilight" etc, and I would have found it legitimate. It's how much I feel manipulated by the film that bothers me. I have no qualms with the content, just the execution.

One legitimate connection between the two is the Sailor Moonish feel I got from it. All the movies (long episodes) have had a very good Sailor Moon feel, and if you want to jab me in the nostalgia, it's a pretty effective route to take.

1. The human versions of the Mane Six turned out to be a lot easier to emotionally connect with than originally thought.

2. Flash, though underdeveloped, at least had a couple of good moments (such as debunking the "evidence" against Twilight and joining her in that infamous OH-SWEET-CELESTIA-KILL-IT-WITH-FIRE dance that she's been known to do), and actually seemed more competent than Sunset.

3. Exposition from both versions of Pinkie. That is all.

1. Twilight struggling with being crowned a princess and worrying about if Celestia will have her rule a kingdom of her own like Cadence

2. The human versions of the Mane 6

3. The songs, my favorite the MLP Theme remix and Helping Twilight Win The Crown

4. Seeing the background ponies at the school and their appearance being exactly what I expected them to look like

5. The ending

6. Sunset Shimmer up until turning into a demon

7. Seeing Derpy at end credits

I enjoyed EG, but wouldn't give it real high marks.  It was a little too disconnected from the show.  I've only watched it once but several things stood out that bothered me.

-  Rainbow Dash barely got any good lines....she said "awesome".  That's about it.

-  A lot of the movie felt rushed.

-  Really only one catchy song....:/

-  Not as much humor/wit as the FiM series.

I liked how Twilight had to get used to being a human.

I loved all of the song numbers (especially helping twilight win the crown).

I liked how Twilight met human Fluttershy. I thought that it was a great nod to how Twilight met Fluttershy in the first episode of FiM.

I liked how all of the ponies share their same traits as humans. (Pinkie's craziness, Fluttershy's shyness, etc.)

I liked how Sunset Shimmer was defeated very similarly to how Nightmare Moon and Discord were defeated.

All in all, I thought it was a very good movie.

i hate to single you out, but forums soooooooooooooooooooooo....

but i do actualy agree with some of your points, namely that it felt rushed. i think that comes from having a lot of small side stories, like the odd 5 second part where sunset shimmer framed twilight with the cut out picture. but you gotta see it for what it's worth. this seemed to be another "barbie and the such-and-such,"  and it actually came out pretty awesome honestly. so looking at it in that light, do you think you see the movie in a better light, or is it still coming out the same?

I really like the film too.. I think there are only a handful of things I don't like (Mainly Flash Sentry, and the animation was a bit weird at times).

But still, the Cafeteria song posted by the OP is a really good moment.
There are also a lot of genuinely funny moments, like Twilight getting used to being a human, Spike has a few good lines (He was generally great in EQG), and Trixie's show-stealing line.

And am I the only one that actually really likes this song?:

Have a nice cold pint, and wait for all this to blow over..

I think the music was okay. Daniel Ingram himself said that this type of music genre is usual to him so I think it would be fair to give him a handicap there.

The animation was really good too. Using human style movements instead of pony ones was a big change DHX had to get accustomed to and they did it rather nicely.

Finally Spike was at his best in this movie. He was funny, snarky, and most importantly, HELPFUL!

It's easier to talk about the positives of something than the negatives. And even then, what's the point? You know what parts you liked, and there are a lot of people here who thought it was a 10/10 movie...somehow.

Oh don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the movie more than I thought I would.  I didn't go in thinking I'd hate it, but I had some doubts.  There were just instances that really felt rushed.  Example- when we are introduced to human Rainbow Dash, who doesn't even get a word in until the others have already hugged and made up.  It's as if she was forgotten or they didn't want to spend time focusing on her conflict with Applejack before everyone came to the realization that Sunset Shimmer was to blame.

Again, I did like the movie for what it was, I'm just quick to notice if things feel rushed.

it did get a little headstrong, which is surprising. usually these types of movies are made by 12 dudes sitting in fancy suits going "we want money!" but they tried to be creative with this movie and they honestly tried too hard i think. they wanted a lot of really interesting, mind blowing things to happen, but they limited themselves with a time frame it seems...

and so it was that we almost had a perfect MLP movie..... maybe we'll get what we want later?
