Also, RNG manipulation is okay in my mind due to the fact that it's not exactly easy, it takes a TON of skill to do it correctly even if you have a calculator helping you

 Because of a little debate on gaming? That's kinda silly. They are games, people enjoy them differently. As long as everyone is having fun with games in the way they want to have fun, and nobody is being cheated out of a victory in a competition that they earned, it's all good.

 

 Same thing with TV shows, books, movies, etc. Some people love to analyze and find all the little details, connections and other things. Some just like to sit back and enjoy the experience. Some people do both depending on their mood. It's all a matter of what the person enjoys.

And what if the creator is happy to see people find new ways to enjoy their creation? It's not to do with ego, it's a matter of fun. Simple fun.

 

 If we only ever used everything exactly as it was intended to be used, we'd get nowhere. We'd stagnate. Creativity comes from trying new things. My favorite game is Isaac, and I really enjoy the game as it is. I've spent over 250 hours just playing it as it comes out of the (Figurative) box. But I've also been looking up some mods for new characters and items recently. Because new experiences in my favorite game sounds fun.

Yeah, you spent all that extra time, to search for little, extra things, that have little to no impact on gameplay. That time could have been used on something more constructive and useful.

All that time you spent watching ponies could be used on something more constructive. All that time spent here on the forums could be used on something more constructive. All that time even playing video games at all could have been spent on something more constructive. Heck, even time reading a book could possibly be spent on something more constructive.

 

 I play games for fun, and because they make me happy. I watch MLP because it makes me happy. I come here because I enjoy it. It's all the same, things done for fun and enjoyment.

The point is entertainment. So if you're spending your fun time to have fun, you're doing it right.

Mods are there to prolong the gameplay, if anything else. It spices things up and offers a new challenge. They're there for pure enjoyment, who cares if it's not being constructive.

 

Other things may be more "Constructive" but that doesn't mean they're fun, does it?

I'm a full-time student. I put in a 48 hour work week along with that. That's constructive.

 

Why don't you work 24/7? Why do you take time to come here, or play games at all? If you want to really be constructive, you need to keep going to school and working. All day. Only stop for necessities.

 

 Fun isn't a waste of time. Friends aren't a waste of time. Games, and stories, and art, and music are not wastes of time. If it's making you happy and causing no harm, it's not a waste of time, even if it isn't really "Constructive".

 

 And if those people spending time to dig through code and find all the little numbers and details are having fun, and possibly gaining talent that could help them get a job in game design/programming in the future? I would say they aren't wasting their time either.

There are games though, like Skyrim, that depend on the modding community. The vanilla game is good, but it's improved two-fold with mods. This is something the developers recognise and let happen, because it's part of the community. These mods don't just add new things, some edit the core gameplay to make it easier or harder. It all adds to the fun.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's the developers' jobs to improve the game themselves. Taking that away from them, takes away from their bottom line.

Anyway, you were telling me to play the game as intended right after I was talking about egg moves.

Egg moves were a feature put in my the creators. It's totally something you should be able to do.
