    • Keep counting to infinity (count to the next million(s))
      106
    • Count back down to 1 (then back up)

Hai gais! :pinkie:

Actually I've been off work for about an hour now (You'll know I'm at work when I use mobile and you'll know I'm using mobile because I'll post xxx as the last three numbers). I'm just shopping for computer parts. I want to upgrade my graphics card, but I think an R9 290 will be a little much for my TX-650 so I'm looking at probably getting a new power supply too.

I mean, crap. I might as well just build a new system altogether. .-.

Um, 650w is perfectly fine for an R9 290. I've even seen systems with that GPU and a 550w PSU, which run fine.

And your current PSU is fine. The TX650 is a Seasonic rebrand IIRC, so, well, not a mystery in the PSU manufacturing game.

I just got an R9 290 and an 850 watt PSU.

*drowns in jealousy* :o

But then again, could you still cancel your order on the 850W PSU? That's more than enough to run 2 R9 290s in Crossfire, and I assume you're not doing such in the near future, so, well trying to minimize your expenses.

Still, you're worse than I am.

I see computer talk. That means it's time for me to call it quits. Night guys.

I plan to OC and there's nothing wrong with having plenty of overhead anyway. I'm probably going to end up swapping my CPU in the future anyway so it was really to make it more futureproof. But at the end of the day, I just don't think you can ever have a big enough PSU. It's always better to have too much than not enough. I ran an estimate on this thing with all my current parts but with an R9 290 instead and at 20% capacitor wear and it was dangerously close to 650 (like, 630 or something like that) and I wasn't taking chances. Better to spend an extra 140 on a PSU that's too much than not and end up accidentally frying your 300 dollar GPU. Ya know? Cos a PSU always takes something with it :okiedokielokie:

Besides, it's an RM-850. This baby is fully modular!  :pinkie:

Filly, I'm almost tempted to give (not sell - give) you my old 7770 xD

Seriously. Nobody should have to go through gaming on a GT 610 :(

I feel like a 7770 would be better ;)

I have no idea what a GT 610 even is.

A very low end Nvidia graphics card. :okiedokielokie:

Oh okay. :comeatus:

You can certainly run dual R9 290s in Crossfire with that baby. ^_^

*lives indaPilipins, not sure how will my parents trust on that* :o :(

Yeah. They'll probably freak out, lose trust on me, and probably move my computer right in a place where they could see what I'm doing if they've found of out this CTAM thing. That means not only limited CTAM all day long as long as they're awake (I'll miss you guys :(), but also limited ponies too, because #Closet-ishBronyProblems.

Ah well. I suppose I'll just save up money and buy either a used 7770 or a brand new 260X/270 and a quality 550W PSU if I want to make an upgrade that my parents can trust. -_-

*insert pony pic here*
