 I've never even tried for a relationship at all.

In the last two years I have;

 

Increased my self confidence tenfold.

Practically learned social skills from scratch.

Overcome depression and anxiety.

Experienced as many new things as I could.

Gained multiple new hobbies and interests and regained ones I had before my depression.

 

But here I am, still in the same position I was 2 years ago, idly dreaming of a future that might never come.

First off: I thought you were over relationships? You seemed fine with not having one, but now you seem upset about it again.

 

Second off: That's all a process, you don't just improve everything over night. You got better at all those things over two years, if you want a relationship, there's still plenty of time.

 

Third off: I can't even have a conversation with my own parents without getting nervous, I stutter and stumble and basically turn into Fluttershy whenever trying to talk to strangers now. You're not the only one who has some social problems.

I want to smash my smoke alarm with a fucking sledgehammer. Goddammit. 4:15. I was up at 4:15 with the fucker chirping at me because the battery was dying. I feel like an animate corpse. And I've still got seven hours left in my work day.

 

I know this is a middle class problem and its no big deal in the big picture but when you wake up at 4:15 and can't sleep again it'll wreck your day. Especially if you went to bed at 11:30.

I did try to give up but I just couldn't do it.

 

I think deep down we all want there to be someone out there who would love us for who we are.

 

That want is just a basic human instinct. To get rid of it would require an insane amount of willpower.

 It doesn't require an insane amount of willpower. I don't want a relationship, and plenty of other people don't either. But if you do that's fine, that's what you want and I wish you luck. But you need to stop basing all your self-worth on this one aspect of life.
