I'd prefer to use Linux, but not all of my games would play on a Linux platform. Not everything I own is available for Linux. I mean, let's face it, Windows (despite being the most unsafe) is the most compatible OS there is. Practically everything is available for Windows.

*hypes Windows 10*

Besides, I actually like Windows. You reduce the likelihood of getting a virus if you stay away from dodgy websites and don't open questionable emails. But I do like it. I'd prefer to use Linux, but it could always be worse.

At least it's not a Mac. :eww:

Yeah. Macs are....whatever face you showed.

I understand about Windows; I dual-boot. I can't live without some Windows-only programs. I also like the fact that most hardware will work easily with windows automatically. But both of those reasons give no creditibility to the OS itself.

I was running Ubuntu for a while. Loved it. 10/10 would run again one day if all my games are compatible for it. Til then, I'm stuck on Microsoft.

Do you like the Ubuntu software center? I think it is terrible, slow, and too many paid apps.

Well, I'm signing off. I have had my spurt of randomness for today.

I agree. It wasn't that great. I didn't do much with it since it was an old HP Pavilion DV5-2077cl laptop that was on its final leg. I had somehow got games like Skyrim to run on it (we're talking about editing some of the settings files to knock the graphics down so much I could run it on only 50 MB of dedicated graphics memory...let's just say I've come a long way as a PC gamer since early 2012), and while running games like that, I had the processor baking as high as 95°C at times. Its TJ Max was somewhere at around 104°C. After I learned that you actually need decent hardware to run a game like Skyrim rather than a $600 notebook you get at Sam's Club. I didn't know there was a difference between standard computers and actual gaming hardware lol

Anyway, it finally broke when the hard drive went kaput. So I picked up a new one after I got another laptop because I wanted to see if I could get it running again. Before that, though, I had taken it completely apart. I wanted to redo the thermal paste. The thermal paste was more like dried mud. All of it had hardened. So I cleaned off the old thermal goop. Then it sat in a shoebox in about 50 different pieces for about 4 months. One day I did actually pick up a hard drive and put the computer back together. It still worked (amazingly enough). That's when I installed Ubuntu on it.

I didn't do much with it outside of watching videos and storing music. It was more or less something to play with a Linux distro on. I had my newer laptop for school and I was in the planning phase of building my desktop. :3

Oh, Filly, even after I put new thermal goop on it, that thing never idled below 60°C.

Sorry. I meant 60. It never idled below 60.

It always stayed at anywhere from 140 to 160°F, which is roughly 60 - 71°C.

AMD Phenom II N620 @ 2.8 GHz was what it was running. That thing liked to be hot.
