It's funny.

                CPU MHz    GPU MHz

GameCube            485        162

Xbox                733        233

PlayStation 2       295        148

The PlayStation 2 had the lowest clocks but went on to be the best selling console of that generation and had probably the longest lifespan of any console ever. Even the GameCube had a higher clock speed than the PS2.

Sony throwing a DVD player in with the PS2 when DVD's were at the height of their popularity was a move of pure genius.

I still have one of those lying around. Other than the button that pops up the little disc tray being fairly stiff, it's probably still working like a baws. :D

321888 dont forget not every core is equal or that they have the same number of cores or their arcutecture is comparable

well spent 20 mins editing two pics one of celestia and one of twilighs new hair to try and edit it onto celestias before realizing they werent the same prospective.

You know, I imagine that back in 2000, a 733 MHz CPU could blow a 295 MHz CPU out of the water. Sure, today a 5 GHz CPU isn't necessarily better than one at 3.5 GHz. But these days we have things like multiple cores, hyperthreading, etc. In 2000, I'm pretty sure most CPUs were single core. The Pentium D and Athlon 64 X2 weren't released til 2005 and the IBM POWER4 was released in 2001. I don't think the 6th generation consoles were running POWER4s lol I imagine a POWER4 was a pretty high-end part in 2001.

I tend to think that while clock speeds in those days weren't everything, they do have a pretty predominant role in how well a part performed compared to today where you can blow a 5 GHz processor out of the water with a 3.5. (I'm looking at you FX 9590 vs i5 4690K people) :P

I read the K7 was going to be the game changer because it was the first to hit 1 GHz. :P

We're still talking about consumer-grade electronics here, right? :P

But yeah, I'm aware of what's out there lol I'd love to get my hands on some of these crazy core counts, but it's just a tad out of my price range.

Anyway goodinght.
