Having problems with shading as well.  I'm trying to decide whether I should just duplicate a layer and lower it's brightness, or just make an alpha layer?  I don't want to lower the brightness of the original, because I want to hold onto the original color, but I dislike having so many layers. 

 

Still, pretty great that you're getting better. 

 

I also wanted to watch the Oscars but they don't record the thing or they don't show it to people without cable or satellite.

Have to agree sometimes it gets so confusing with so many layers, but I tend to use an alpha layer for my shading just find it easier that way.
