I just got the Thinkpad... and a few hours later the mechanical drive gives out. Well, good thing replacements aren't expensive, but...

To be honest, I probably had a huge amount of influence in that... I was trying to get it updated to beyond 2008. Which involved installing Windows XP Service Pack 3. I think the post-install cleanup is what killed it. And if it wasn't gone before, it is now.

 

But you know what? I'm not gonna let the death of this mechanical drive stop me. I will resurrect the old machine. I will make it live on!
