SEASON 5 EPISODE 10 SPOILAHS! U HAB BEEN WARNED!

 

 

It was good I suppose. Definitely not trying to be like the last episode or the season opener or other highlights of S5 so far, it's good for a filler episode.

 

Though, it does kind of feel like a rebranded Secret of My Excess though, I mean, Spike gets some authority or something, he'd abuse it and get all dun and goofed at the end.
 

One day, we'd somehow get a ballz-to-the-walls Spike episode written from the ground up, and not be a rebadge just like AMD has been doing for the past few generations excluding the Fury X.

It was meh. I think they tried to force Spike's power hungry change too much, to the point it was against his character. Also, why couldn't Spike just tell them she was resting in the first place?? xD I agree with you though Filly on the caparison to Secret of my Excess. This episode did feel a bit too goofy at times lol

Just some general thoughts on the episode. 

 

 

 

 

A dragon living among ponies who doesn't know his place in the world and his personal journey to find out what the heck it is that he's supposed to do in his life. I feel like that could go places. But you're right. They were doing something like that and it could have been a pretty good sub-story. But they just don't seem overly interested in Spike's overall character and that makes us bored with Spike's overall character as well. 

I loved Spike in Lesson Zero. 

 

 

I don't know that this was too memorable. I mean, it wasn't great but it wasn't completely awful....

 

But for a Spike episode, it wasn't half bad. One of the better Spike episodes. When I saw the title, I didn't get my hopes up so I wasn't really let down by how forgettable it was lol

 

Saying "Good for a Spike episode" is about like saying "Smells fresh for a turd" 

 

 

Not that I feel like the writers hate Spike as much as they still don't entirely know where he fits into the mix or they don't know what they want to do with his character. Spike needs a direction. A goal. Right now, in the overarching story, Spike feels like a character that drifts wherever the wind takes him. 

 

He doesn't blaze a trail. He gets dragged along. That creates a boring character.
