@, oh, i'm fine geeking out. but i'm kinda just starting. havent been playing for more than a year. i like starting simple and currently, all i really want are swamps and/or a planeswalker that has burn effect.

If you want a planeswalker with a burn effect, I would suggest either Chandra or Ral Zerak (Or whatever the hell his name is... I can't remember... The Red/Blue guy)

If you ever want help with creating decks or just anything MTG related, you can always PM me, I've been making decks for quite awhile now and I'm always glad to help :)

Used to play Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon TCG back in elementary school. I had so many cards more Pokemon than Yu-Gi-Oh. We always played at recess. I gave my Pokemon cards to my little cousin and I don't now what happened to my Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

Well recently I've been looking into some trading card games to play. I started with Pokemon but I felt like the game was too much luck, too easy, and was a pay to win game. Now I've been looking at Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic, but still deciding which one I like better. See, Yu-Gi-Oh offers unlimited matches (besides the small list of banned cards) but Magic takes more skill and offers a more mature strategic community. By the way, I hate when TCGs have a modified play style and they ban every card except the new ones. So anyway, what trading card game(s) do you play?  :P

Edit: Spelling

Small list of banned cards? When was the last time you saw the list? :o

Anyway I used to play Yugioh but I quit. I didn't like the way they changed the game so much.

I don't play any right now, but I do own the 2012 and 2013 editions of Dual of the Planeswalkers on Steam. Haven't done anything with them yet. They look simultaneously relaxing and challenging, so M:TG might become a new hobby of mine in the near future.

Eh, i use to play Yugioh a little, mostly with my brother and the video games, i played pokemon a little to.

Of course i basically got rid of and sold my cards for the most part, because i was no longer interested in playing.

Also I saw my friend playing yugioh, and omg its so much different now.. Like i'm totally lost.

Pokemon hasn't changed alot from what i can tell. Whether thats good or bad idk.

Never really played any other card games.

Oh my God, I play sooooo much Magic. Probably too much, actually :P

I do play semi-competitively (mostly Standard, and a little Modern), but my favorite format is EDH. I currently have 5 EDH decks, and am currently building a 6th. I have 3 Standard decks, 2 Modern, and about 14 casual (some aren't complete anymore because I needed cards from them for other decks).

I play som Yu Gi Oh DS games, as well as a fun little card game called Legend of 5 Rings.

Wait... You have five EDH decks? Seriously?

I barely even had the patience to make one... How can you stand working on a deck for that long?

Probably because I'm a huge Johnny. I have a lot of fun building decks, testing them, and then tweaking them. I have a lot of fun coming up with weird combos in my head, then building decks around them. Most of them barely work, but the few games where I can successfully pull off a 3 or4 card combo and win are worth it.

Also, EDH is a Johnny's paradise. You have a single card (your commander) who is, for all intents and purposes, always in your hand, so you can cast them whenever? That just screams "build around me!". There are just simply way too many awesome card interactions available in EDH for me to make just one deck. All of mine are pretty combo-y, too.

1. UR Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius - I used to use Niv-Mizzet the Firemind as my general (since he's my favorite card), but the deck was just degenerate combos, and when the whole deck is "get out Nivvy, get out Curiosity/Ophidian Eye/Mind over Matter or draw huge amounts of cards some other way, you now win the game and nobody can do anything about it" is the whole deck, it's not fun for anybody. I toned it down, but most people assume that any Firemind EDH deck is full of degenerate combos (understandable, since he's one of the most popular EDH combo generals), so they always targeted me first. Now I use Dracogenius and tons of copy and redirect effects, and just mess with other people's spells to make the game more interesting. I very rarely win when I play this deck, but I always have fun :)

2. BWG Ghave - This one is all token and counter shenanigans. Once I get out a few of my combo pieces (the best being Doubling Season and Cathar's Crusade), I just snowball into hideous amounts of saprolings that are all stacked with +1/+1 counters. Also, in addition to being combo-y as hell, Ghave's built in, repeatable, instant speed sac engine is AMAZING. Just get out something that triggers when your stuff dies, and you can trigger it any time you want. Gravepact? You can now kill everybody else's creatures with out wasting your own (since they turn into counters which can be turned back into creatures). Blood Artist? Use your spare mana to drain everyone else's life. Above all, the decks thrives on efficiency. As long as Ghave is out and I have mana open, nothing is ever completely wasted.

3. URG Animar - Animar is just so nuts. Protection from black and white (i.e. protection from all the best removal). He pumps himself, making winning with general damage a very real threat (especially if they're playing Black or White, since then at least some of their creatures can't block him). The bigger he gets, the less you have to pay for your creatures (which in turn, make him even bigger). Almost the entire deck is creatures, and it's not uncommon for me to have ~15 counters on him. That means I can hard cast fucking Eldrazi for free. If I have Teferi out, I can do it at instant speed. Oh, you're attacking me? In response, I cast Kozilek for free and draw 4 cards. Okay, now I cast the Darksteel Colossus I just drew for free, along with (other creatures here) for a few mana each and block everything. Oh, and Animar is even bigger now. Problem, bro? I've got cards like Spearbreaker Behemoth and Wrap in Vigor to get around field wipe, so not even that can always stop me. This is probably my best EDH deck.

4. BWG Karador - This is a fun one. Pretty standard graveyard shenanigans; put scary stuff in the graveyard, get it out of the graveyard for less mana than it would've taken to cast the normal way. Not to mention things like Living Death. I've taken very long turns doing all sorts of weird combinations of sacrificing, destroying, and discarding stuff so that when I cast Living Death, the field will end up exactly how I want it. I've done some pretty crazy things with that card :)

5. R Kumano - Oh boy. Monored control is so mean. The entire deck is made to interfere with your landbase and your creatures. You have nonbasic lands? Sucks to be you. You want to be able to tap lands without being punished for it? Sucks to be you. You want to be able to tap lands more than once a turn? Sucks to be you. You just want to keep your lands? Well... maybe I'll let you keep them. And if you manage to get creatures out. Heh heh, that's where my general shines. If he gains deathtouch (from say, some of the equipment I'm running that gives it to him), the his "deal 1 damage" ability just kills the creature instead. And since his other ability exiles creatures if they die after being dealt damage by him, he basically reads "1R: Exile target creature". I also have things like Heartstone, to make it costs even less. So, you have no lands, and you have no creatures. Have fun ;)

6. URB Lord of Tresserhorn - This one isn't done yet, but it's a Voltron deck. I mean, c'mon, a 10/4 that can regenerate himself and only costs 4 mana? Voltron time! The colors are great for giving him evasion abilities, or just simply keeping their field clear of blockers. I put Mark of the Vampire on him, and he can 2shot opponents, not to mention gaining me tons of life. Plenty of annoying effects I can throw on him, too. Sigil of Sleep, Curiosity, Mental Vapors, things happen when he attacks. Sadly, without green or white, I don't have many +/+ enchantments, though I have equipment for that. Oh, and... Worldslayer + regenerate :)

Wow... Those decks are evil (Suddenly your username makes a lot more sense, lol)

Seriously I can't even remember how my EDH deck worked... I just know it was built around Riku of Two Reflections

I play Yu-Gi-Oh, Chaotic, both I play with my brother, I use for Chaotic an underwolder basic deck, for Yu-Gi-Oh I use a deck filled with under world monsters. My brother for Yu-Gi-Oh wins more often with his Sebastian like personality, he literally has a pyramid of decks!

FML;  my deck is forever ruled.  OCG and TCG banned the baby dragons for Dragon Rulers/Suppressor Dragons/Elemental Dragons yesterday.  I only used "Burner" and "Blaster," but I used them to chain into #11 Big Eye and Mecha phanton beast draccosack.  I had a deck that I MADE that could easily beat the meta, (dark world, mermails, constelar, even pure E drags sometimes).  Now I can't use it because so many little fuckers kept bitching about pure E drags and some cards got banned.  Fucking why Konami?

Good bye Burner:   :(   Now I have to make a new deck...

post-6560-0-24839500-1376807317_thumb.png

If anyone has any suggestions that aren't purely based on META, I would appreciate the help.

Fuck dark world.  THAT should be banned.

But Dark World is my favorite YuGiOh deck. It's so fun :)

But that's the main reason I got out of the game: they do very little playtesting, and replace quality control with rampant bannings. It's like they don't care if they release broken-ass cards, since they can just ban them.

Well, and the game itself has a lot of inherent flaws IMO. But until there's a Magic DS game, I'll be playing YuGiOh on it :P
