It was just one of those mornings.

 

Peppery had just sat down to breakfast when the doorbell rang. It had been the postcolt with a special delivery, a message from her brother. It had sent the genteel unicorn into a tizzy and she slammed the door on the poor mailcolt. Afterwards, she had huffed over to the breakfast table once more, she discovered that her tea was cold. Reheated tea never tasted as good, and so she had to rush out the door to work with no tea and only a crumb of toast to satisfy her.

 

Of course, she had to turn right around and go back inside, because she had forgotten her hat. And it was completely unacceptable for a lady to rush out the door without her hat, even if the hat in question was an old thing. By the time she finished fussing in the mirror and stepped outside once more, her mail was lying on her front stoop. Obviously, her regular mailcolt hadn’t wanted to risk her wrath, and so she waited for a moment to sift through her mail.

 

More bills. Of course.

 

But there was also a note, addressed to her. Something about Twelve Elements?

 

Like all Canterlot elite, Peppery had deeply mourned the deaths of the princesses, and pledged her allegiance to Princess Twilight Sparkle. Forgetting work for the moment, Peppery took off for the library, daintily avoiding mud puddles and wrinkling her nose at the carts going by.

 

She knocked twice on the door and then entered, and was faced with a room full of ponies.

 

“Oh, my,” Peppery said in her soft, Canterlot voice. “I didn’t expect so many other ponies to be here.”

 

She arched her back as she walked and thanked her lucky stars that she had remembered to bring a hat. If only it wasn’t so last season.

“Oh, my,” Peppery said in her soft, Canterlot voice. “I didn’t expect so many other ponies to be here.”

 

Somepony else has arrived? Lyona noticed that another pony had walked through the door. I thought that we already had enough... Might as well go introduce myself. 

 

" Hello. My name is Lyona, and I'm the local pet shop worker. What about you?" The pegasus asked, walking up to the new pony. It looks as if she's from Canterlot. I hope that she isn't like some of the nobles there. I've had enough of them from the six years that I've lived there.

"12 elements of emotion, so there has to be more then 12 candidates for the right one to be picked."

An unexpected answer had come from the right of Peppery Mint. And to the right was a funny blue Pegasus facing a wall. "Your voice doesn't sound familiar.. Did you just come in?

By then, Moon felt the wall and turned to face Peppery, making sure she didn't run into anything, or her at least. It was odd seeing her do something like that, and from looking with a normal thought, you would think that doing something like that is pretty odd, which may be what Peppery had going through her mind.

Apolyon had finished the book a few minuets ago and had decided to try to get some information. From books, he knew that the original 6 elements had split into 12 new elements but he had quite a few questions he wanted to have answered so he looked for a book on splitting and duplication magics. Attempting to avoid attention Apolyon stands up and starts looking for the D section of the library.

Peppery smiled at the pony who introduced herself. Small, with a tousled brown mane and a soft-looking coat. Unsophisticated most likely, but if there was one thing Peppery had learned about Ponyville, it was that most of the ponies here was unsophisticated. “How charming to make your acquaintance,” Peppery said lightly. “My name is Peppery Mints. I work at...” she faltered only slightly, “Sweet Apple Acres.”

 

It was a horrible job, but it was the only job in town, it seemed. The ponies running the farm seemed like decent folk, uncouth but big hearted. And anyway, Peppery would rather spend her time sorting rotten apples than go to Trottingham. Peppery didn’t let this sentiment show on her face, and instead turned to speak politely to the pony who had approached her from the side.

 

Was that pony...?

 

My word, the filly was blind.

 

“Yes, I did just come in,” Peppery said, studying her face. She seemed to be staring at the wall while talking to her, and the odd-looking blue pony seemed rather content in her disability. “My name is Peppery Mints. May I ask who you are?”

The blue pony smiled and stuck out a hoof to her, guessing if she was there or not. "Peppery Mints is such a sweet name. But aside from that, my name is Moon Wave! I'm a mother of one, but my husband is keeping her right now so there's nothing to worry about."

From there, Moon shifted her stance and moved some hair away from her eyes. They looked perfectly normal to anypony, but it's just the way her body motions were which indicated that they wernt being used.

"I prefer ferrets myself, I love their cunning." Amour commented. She trotted over to the newcomer and the mare who sitting on the floor near the entrance, hearing the last bit of conversation as she approached. 

"Oh you're a mother? I've always thought about having a foal. Never thought of having a husband though, so I probably need to back up a bit. I'm Amour by the way." She said to the blue mare and mare with green mane. "I'm a wedding cake baker and designer."

Moon noticed the new pony that had jumped in the conversation, giving a slight pause before speaking again. "Amour? Hmhm, nice to meet you then~! Also, i've heard that if you don't want a husband but want a filly, you can just pair up with a guy for the night, you know? But lets not get into that."

She was delighted to hear another pony with them, more or less someone with a fancy name. Well, she is much more then that of course, so Moon decided to go a little deeper.

 

"A wedding cake baker and designer? So how many weddings have you done so far~?"

"Are you ready?" she asked the two Pegasi. Night Dart nodded.

Golden Dawn stood ready in his armour of the solar guard, which he did not change to different armour out of respect for the memory of Princess Celestia and all she had done for Equestria, waiting for Sunny so that they could made the journey needed to meet those that would be the bearers of the new Elements of Harmony... no the Elements of Emotion as they were called now having doubled in number. He did not quiet understand how such could take place but it would seem that it did, and since all but Princess Twilight Sparkle had been killed it not like the Elements of harmony would be much use.

 

Lost in his own thoughts Golden considered all those that had died, Celestia and Luna after being so long apart though at least they would be together in death, the former bearers of the Elements of Harmony... all but Princess Twilight after being promised she would not outlive her friends. So many deaths and now new heroes would need to be gathered. Golden promised himself he would not allow any more of Equestria's heroes and protectors to die, he would do his part, that he promised himself.

 

On hearing the mare speak to him he looked up and nodded saying simply, "Yes princess I am ready, I will protect and help where I can." The stallion turned to give a brief nod to the Night Dart before focusing his attention to Sunny.

Persistence had found book of poems written by Princess Luna and was so engrossed in it she wasn't watching where she was walking, as a result, she bumped right into somepony, they both stumbled and Persi plopped down onto the floor.

"Oops, Sorry mate, payin' attention"

She examines the colt, slightly confused by his colour scheme, she points to his coat and asks,

"Your choice or ...?"

Amour smiled and sat beside Moon Wave, shifting around a bit so she could get comfortable. "I've done over thirty successful weddings and four not so successful ones. I also did a couple of little weddings for those dedicated pet owners that like having their pets married before they're bred. A little odd in my opinion, but who am I to judge?" She laughed.

Sunny Dew gave them both a nod and headed out the door. She was still getting used to this. She didn't know why she was required to be escorted by guards in a place like Ponyville, but she feared that they may come to use today. The uneasy, ominous feeling worsened as they made their way to the library, but she tried to ignore it as she held her head high and trotted through the town.

Firecracker furrowed her brow at Winter's reaction. He didn't seem to think much of himself, but she dismissed it as he continued to talk.

"Yup! I've always got a ton of energy. Nope! I've only met you, Lyona, and Fire Sharp so far~!"

 

((I'm considering making Firecracker be Joy instead of Symphony... She'd fit better with Enthusiasm but Winter's Enthusiasm. I just don't know if Symphony fits the Element, but I may keep it the same.))

Moon decided to laugh with her on that. It was quite odd to get their pets married before they bred, but at the same time, it was pretty funny. But aside from the thought, she was curious about a few things.

"So, since you say you make wedding cakes, does that mean you did the one for, Shining Armor and Princess Cadence? I know she has passed now, but you should never let it haunt you, even if you liked her a lot."

Peppery took an immediate interest in the wedding cake designer, and she bit her lower lip daintily. “My goodness! My brother recently got married and his wedding cake was absolutely beautiful. I do appreciate the culinary arts, it’s so fascinating.”

 

The yellow-furred pony used her magic to take off her hat and hang it on a peg. Something about the way Moon Wave moved was bizarre and almost upsetting; perfectly normal looking ponies didn't go blind without any visible markings. “Darling, don’t think me rude, although I have been accused of that upon occasion, but however do you manage? Being blind, I mean. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn't see – go mad, I suppose.”

 

She tittered and flushed a little, hoping the other pony wouldn't take offense. But the feeling was short-lived; Peppery wanted to know, and she honestly didn't care how frank she was if she needed to know an answer.

Before Amour had a chance to answer, her direction was pointed toward Peppery again. Instead of any backtalk, Moon gave a sweet smile and replied back.

"I think of blindness as a minor setback really. But the reason why I don't go mad over it is because, I still have a family to take care of and a life to live. That's a good enough reason to continue on and keep myself going, and if I start to veer off I just tell myself that and it fixes it in a few seconds."

Amour's smile faded a bit at Moon Wave's question. She had done the cake for Shining Armor and Princess Cadence's wedding, but she didn't like to dwell on that. She was happy for Peppery Mint's interruption, but her eyes widened at what the mare had said.

"You're blind?" She gasped, turning to Moon Wave. She hadn't even noticed! She leaped to her feet dancing on her hooves excitedly. "Does this mean you have heightened hearing?" She asked, leaning forward.

Winter looks down at the book he was reading the whole time seeing the new 12 Elements names then scans it. "Hmmmmm..." Winter starts thinking about it, looking around seeing which pony would fit what Element, then snaps as he completely forgot about Firecracker, who is in front of him. He lets out a faint smile, scratching his mane, "S-sorry, my mind was stuck on these 12 new Elements somehow... So only 3 of us... Well there's a lot more ponies to talk to." Winter starts pointing at specific ponies as he assumes that they are the new Element bearers.

Fire tried looking at the pegasus again but when she turned around she could see talking to other ponies already and going to them very quickly. She was heaps excited and that brought her spirits up too.

"I would catch to your sister now, before she has a chance to introduce herself to every pony here, I won't keep you Ma'am."

After a long moment of gazing around at the other ponies, Chamois got up and went towards the bookshelf for something better to do.  She ran her hoof along the book spines and picked out one randomly.  She looked down at the book in her hoof and read 'Beautiful Chaos'.

It would have to do.

Colour Spark looked at her sister and chuckled. It was just like her.

"You have a point. Anyhow, there's no need to call me ma'am."

At this, she left and started making her way across the room.

Firecracker grinned and trotted away to go talk to somepony else.

He watches the mare walk away then sits back down and keeps studying the 12 new elements and giggles to himself shaking his head a little, "I feel like a nerd studying all of this..." He keeps studying the elements and hopefully somepony else would want to talk to him.

Chamois sat back down on her beanbag chair and flipped the book open to the first page of the story without reading the back cover.  She quite liked surprises.  The back of books always ruined it.  Sometimes, its fun to dive right in and see where it takes you.

Seeing that the others ponies were chatting, Lyona didn't really want to interfere. She spotted a mare reading a book, and decided to approach her instead. I hope she doesn't mind me interrupting... I think she's here for the elements. Well, I hope so.

 

Lyona noticed the book Chamois was reading, and smiled. " That's a great book. It's the third book though, so it might be a bit confusing if you didn't read the other ones." She warned.

Moon was a tad shocked from the excitement she received from Amour, and decided it was worth talking about. After all its something you couldn't avoid no matter what you tried.

"For hearing, ehn.. I've actually never thought about it really. I mean, maybe I can hear a little better when I keep watch over baby Siri, but I guess it's just something that I didn't notice. I don't know though, since it feels almost like something is blocking my vision, rather then going blind."

Midnight kept reading books about all kinds of magic. Most spells weren't that hard for him considering he basically mastered one of the hardest magic types, conjuration. However if he used it too long it'd take away all his energy to the point of collapsing, staying asleep for a day or two at most.

While reading a book about magic he suddenly said something without realising it.

"Now this is a fancy spell. Gotta memorize that one."
