twiia 1,843 May 14, 2016 Share May 14, 2016 Interesting topic. If earth ponies can make great villains, than just about anything is possible. Mane-iac was an earth pony villain but she still had a magical mane, so I'm not sure is that counts. 'Make me your Queen' Sig by Wheatley
Roughshod 719 May 14, 2016 Share May 14, 2016 (edited) An Earth Pony villain, and I mean a major villain on par with the likes of Chrysalis and Sombra would have to be extremely powerful for a pony. As many have suggested here a high intellect would be essential as would some sort of magic mitigating resource, such as political sway, anti-magic, superior technology or all three. They'd probably be rich as well and would have to be manipulative, turning the Mane 6 against itself as well as part of Equestria and their allies. They'd be well planned in their devices. Something along the lines of Lex Luthor + Tony Stark + Frank Underwood/Petyr Baelish. They'd essentially be the ultimate form of an Earth Pony in terms of natural ability and social connections, but evil. Add in some accomplices and followers and they could be a formidable threat. Maybe their goal could be in controlling all forms of magic so as to undermine unicorns and alicorns and overthrow the princesses. Or maybe they'd be part of an organization that's designed to oversee the monarchy in case another Nightmare Moon incident occurs. Or a major political figure(Prime Minister perhaps) who resents Twilight's rise as well as the increasing number of alicorn princesses. Lots of possibilities. I'm envisioning this villain as likely being male since most pony villains thus far have been female and the bigger stature of stallions would exemplify his strength and intimidating presence. Singe 2,111 May 14, 2016 Share May 14, 2016 An Earth Pony comic maker down on life, finds a magical book that can bring drawings and ideas to reality. Instantly builds an army of super villains from his comics to take on the Mane 6.
Castle Bleck 19,378 May 14, 2016 Share May 14, 2016 Something along the lines of Lex Luthor + Tony Stark + Frank Underwood/Petyr Baelish. And maybe some Zaheer as well. By @Emerald Heart.↑
cmarston1 5,959 May 14, 2016 Share May 14, 2016 To be honest, I think that having an earth pony as a major villain would end up being really uninteresting.
Ruddboy Olaf 10,628 May 14, 2016 Share May 14, 2016 (edited) Voodoo and Black Magic are two types of magic that you probably don't need to be a unicorn to use. So,an Earth pony voodoo or black magic villain could be a possibility. Edited May 14, 2016 by Laurence
Moon Sugar 532 May 14, 2016 Share May 14, 2016 I really like the magic blocking idea, kind of has a flavor of the Equalists from Avatar Korra. ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ☆★☆ It's you I love ☆★☆
Midnight Seashell 206 May 14, 2016 Share May 14, 2016 If there were ever an earth pony villian that should be really smart and cunning as in good at making machines, good at manipulating people and good at playing both sides and that should also make good speeches so as to sugarcoat their real intentions
cider float 2,538 May 16, 2016 Share May 16, 2016 Maybe an earth pony that is powerful in politics and business. She would possess her own paramilitary as well. Maybe she wears fake unicorn horn and wings to make it look like she was a princess and alicorn but it was all a ruse.
Roughshod 719 May 16, 2016 Share May 16, 2016 And maybe some Zaheer as well. Pushing the limits of 'magic' as it is known for Earth Ponies while also holding a revolutionary type of socio-political value system meant to upend the status quo with the aid of a secret organization? Perhaps an organization that has ties with the elements of harmony and the regal sisters/Twilight? Interesting. Although it's a lot for even a premiere/finale. The truth is always rough. SBaby 660 May 19, 2016 Share May 19, 2016 (edited) Pretty much there are two good ways you would be able to have an Earth Pony villain that's actually a threat. One would be to give them access to technology (in which case, they could be a mad scientist that has an artificial army at their disposal). An artificial army controlled by a mad scientist could cause all sorts of havoc across the country. This seems to be the path a majority of people would pick for the villain, since Earth Ponies have no powers of their own, only their strength, wits and intelligence. The other would be to make them a master manipulator, and have them convince other ponies (from all three races) to join their cause and fight in their name. They could disguise themselves as a revolutionary (kind of like Ghetsis from Pokémon; I don't like the character and think he's shallow and underdeveloped compared to the other characters in B/W, but his plan was brilliant), and use the ponies that join as their own personal army. If they're really charismatic, they could use that to make others genuinely believe that they're on the right side. Edited May 19, 2016 by SBaby A Winner Is You!!!
