Why Is Romance "Out Of Character" For Most Of The Mane 6?

The world where romance is out of character for young women, or when it is predominantly homosexual in nature, is a clown world written by people that are out of character for humanity.

There is also the problem of our glorious writers being unable to create male protagonists that are anything more than cardboards and soy-stained cucks, which also greatly impedes love-related activities.

I don't think out of character is the right way to describe the problem.

Any of the main 6 (7-8) are in the realm of possibility to engage in a romantic relationship, BUT it has to build up to it or come from somewhere, otherwise it feels more like spontanous sexual attraction (the so called love at first sight) than anything, like our favorite purple horse and the yellow Chad which are on the later.

Rarity sure has shown some romantic interests with several stallions. Spike is just horny but still developed a romantic interest for rarity. Fluttershy, tho is debatable, I think she developed a platonic interest on Discord if not romance. Pinkie is probably too autistic to understand it but I think she can develop an interest for a guy on her own way, a bit more like an extent of her own philosophy on happiness. Applejack is a bit harder because she's too workaholic for romance but I could still believe her if her relationship was more about business oriented, she's probably aromantic and or asexual... unlike big Mac, hoo boi. Twilight is too centered in her studies and responsibilities that there's no space for anything else, and just like Applejack is the least likely to suddenly develop something out of nowhere. Even mf rainbow dash, I'm pretty sure if her argument with quibble didn't came up that breef nerd romance in the daring doo covention would have totally developed into something more.

All is possible though but it has to come from somewhere believable. Rainbow is my favorite example because from all of them I though that I would never see something so close to being possible. I knew she was obsessed with the wondervolts and maybe that could be a way to get her a romantic interest bit then she became obsessed with books and Daring Do and just so happens that there's a guy that is also as nerdy as her and they bonded over that same interest into almost something else. That is believable and how healthy relationships actually work.

What made me go mad about Twilight's situation was that it was "inexplicable love at first sight" with no previous context at all, not from her or from him, it was just granted out of air. In other words, she just got thirsty for the d. That was a hormonal wave. And I certainly wouldn't like that for Twilight as a character I appreciate but more than that as someone I've come to know over the years (yeah I know is a cartoon but they are still someone with a very defined self in the story) for what it entails. I would like to see Twilight with a romantic partner, and back in the day I was part of the Comet Tail and Twilight gang, but it has to be developed from somewhere logical and more wholesome than purely sexual, like bonding over something she likes like her studies, or forming a very close friendship that gets more serious, or something of the sort. I would have totally been ok with Sunburst Twilight pair because that is believable and developed in a healthy way for her. With Chad here I was just waiting for him to only bring drama and get the best of poor Twilight's sudden crush in the worst way like it usually goes in this type of "romantic" stories. That's why for many the Spike Rarity and Big Mac Sugarbell combos are uncomfortable, because in this magical place of candy colored escapism you suddenly have to be reminded of this very familiar situations that can go either good or very bad, like trying to sexually assault poor Sugarbell while she's unconscious.

So if you are going to do a romantic relationship with the main six you can do it, but the implication of how you go about it is matter of responsibility. They are all possible but for every possiblity there is a reason behind it even if you don't say it directly, and if you want to maintain a wholesome story then better make romantic attraction develop naturally and logically, otherwise is not romance is something else. And it doesn't have to be with a stallion necessarily, as long as it developes from A to B to C, but most of this problems with the difference between romance and sex comes to light when you realize that most people sadly don't know the difference themselves.

It isn’t OOC for Rarity because she is a romantic. As for the rest of the Mane 6, they don’t think about romance a lot, so that’s why it would be weird if suddenly they did (maybe that’s why most people didn’t take Twilight’s crush on Flash well).
