Strong Hooves 289 February 20, 2012 Share February 20, 2012 It has been 15 years since Princess Luna has been freed from the Moon, and peace and harmony have reigned in all of Equestria. The Elements of Harmony are now little more than the old mare's tale that they used to be, and life for the Mane 6 and the other residents of the quiet town could not be more pleasant. However, if there is one known truth in Equestria, is it that peace and happiness cannot be eternal. A messenger from a long forgotten tale--the Elemental Equines--appears in Town Square by way of a bolt of lightning, bringing with him news of a dark unicorn that seeks not only to do away with him, but to rend the tapestry of Equestria's order into rivens, shattering the peace that Celestia and Luna have worked hard to preserve. Now, this stallion, who goes by the name of Static, is seeking others to help him to retrieve a buried part of Equestrian folklore that is their only hope against this coming destroyer of worlds. The time between the start of their journey and the dark unicorn--Darkstrike's--appearance is waning quickly; every second matters to keep all of Equestria from becoming a barren wasteland, ripped apart from the very core of the ground itself. Will they be able to find the Amulet of Light in time, or will Darkstrike's evil wishes become the ending of life as the inhabitants of Ponyville know it? FAST!, Was all that ran through Static's mind as he sped through the air, behind him a dark shadow was quickly gaining on him. Static knew he was no match for the being that followed him, especially in his weakened state, he ran through escape options in his head, an idea finally came up, Itll sap whatever energy I got left, but Its my only choice... Static closed his eyes and concentrated as he picked up speed, sparks of electricity flashing on his forehooves, forming a cone of electricity around his body, Come on... just a little more... BOOM!! A ring of lightning exploded where he previously was, his body changed into a lightning bolt, which sped off into the distance, far from the coming danger, and speeding to a small and unsuspecting town as the sun began to rise... "Whee-yeah, this is the life," she cheered as she tore post Ponyville, the wind whooshing through her wings. Expertly braking to a halt, she looked behind her to see the seven clouds that she had flown through all disintegrate into dust. "I'll be a Wonderbolt in no time," she exclaimed happily. The rays of light formed around the room, giving depth to the objects inside of the room. Flowers lined the wall across the room, covering every part of the space. As the light reached the bed that was in the room, it passed over the cream colored mare that inhabited it. The light bathed her body in the warm glow, slowly moving towards her head. The light hit her violet shaded mane, which made it seem almost red. Once the light hit her eyes, they fluttered open, slowly revealing her green eyes to the world. Yawning loudly, she stretched across her bed, throwing her blanket off. She smiled as the blanket fell, following with her stepping off of her bed with her hind legs. With time to spare, the mare walked over to the door at the back of the room, which was revealed to be her washroom. After waking herself up, she trotted over to her bedroom door, showing the stairs that led to the first floor. Slowly stepping down the stairs, Rose saw her beautiful arrangement of flowers that she put on for sale. Ranging from Sunflowers to her favorite, roses, the mare enjoyed what she did for life. Sunrise Song laughed, zooming past the rainbow maned pegasus as she was standing on a cloud, resting for a minute. The morning had been wonderful for Sunny, his mare Artiste back at their small little cottage on the outskirts of Ponyville. After sending Snow Blossom, Bell Ringer and Symphony Star to school at Ms. Cheerlie's, Sunny had spent the morning working on one of his pieces of music, gave her a kiss and then took to the skies. Even at his older age, he hasn't lost an ounce of speed. "Oh, it is on," she said with a bit of a challenge in her voice, fluttering her wings and taking after the unfamiliar pony. As she raced against the wind, she couldn't help but think about what her friends were doing at the moment. I'll go pay them a visit, she thought to herself. After I show him who's the fastest flyer in Equestria! Catching up to the unfamiliar pony, she yelled out tauntingly, "Who's the slowpoke now?" as she zoomed ahead towards Sugarcube corner, where she hoped her friends would be. She will be making a short appearance sometime soon) The sun was shining and everypony was ready for a wonderful day, nothing seemed to go wrong. But as the ponies enjoyed the clear sunny day, they were startled by the sudden appearence of a lightning bolt, larger than they had ever seen. "Wow, a lightning bolt!" gasped Rainbow Dash as she saw the bolt crash into Ponyville. "That's. So. AWESOME!" Forgetting the race, she veered downwards, eager to check out what had just happened. ~~~ "And...that's the last one picked!" said Applejack, watching the last of the apples fall neatly into the basket. "Gee, ah sure hope I'm not hate to the party at Sugarcube corner...there's no telling what Pinkie'll do if I miss it." Gingerly grabbing the nearest basket by the teeth, she set it carefully on top of the bench and paused to take a rest. "Ah think that's enough for today," she panted. An image of Pinkie Pie scowling and yelling "There's no breaking a Pinkie Promise" swam through her mind. "Okay, I'm goin, I'm goin..." That lightningbolt and the crater and everything! You gotta teach me how to do that sometime!" she cheered. ~~~ "Ah guess I'm late again," sighed Applejack, slowly plodding along the roads of Ponyville. "If ah had wings like Rainbow or Fluttershy I'd be there quicker than a mule at hayfest. But oh well, just hope I'm not too late." She frowned. A crowd of ponies seemed to be gathered around a crater of some sort. "That's an awful lotta ponies. Wonder what's goin on?" All thought of Pinkie Pie's party out of her mind, she galloped towards the scene, eager to find out what happened.
