The Fukushima situation just seems to be getting worse and worse. This isn't good, I mean the freaking coastal sea is boiling for god's sakes!! I also have heard reports that radiation is leaking into the ocean now...that's just great.

Here I thought that Japan would crumble due to it's government system but, the radiation is really a sad thing to hear about. This is what happens when you have a nuclear plant with radiation that isn't stable.

Looks like things are really heating up over there. Shorley things won't get worse from here on trout. Hopefully in the coming days they sand word that things are not as bad as they seem, otherwise everything's about to go to shell for all the residents and marine life living there.

 

Looks like we will have to wade and sea how this turns out.

While there is quite a large possibility that it is in indeed a hoax, everypony needs to understand that we've been seeping thousands upon hundreds of thousands of pollution and (possibly) toxic waste into the ocean for as long as factory production has been around, or even before that.

 

That being said, if this weren't a hoax, radiation comes in a ton of forms already that aren't from nuclear waste. In California's bay area alone there is so much mercury in the water that we're advised to not eat anything we catch in the Bay, I mean people still do it, but we're told not to. I feel like it would probably be the same for if there was nuclear waste in the water as well. 

 

I'm not a scientist, so of course I can't vouch for anything on this one. The best I can do is tell people/ponies not to worry and hope that this is just a hoax.

Um, its definitely a major issue. From what i've read, there are naturally occurring radioactive materials known as NORM's scattered within the Earth's crust. We get our radiation from NORM'S in the earths crust, as well as whatever radiation from the Sun that is NOT blocked by the Earth's atmosphere. We are regularly exposed to radiation and not harmed because its in relatively small quantities. The radioactive material leaking into the ocean NOT that same level of radiation. What we have in Japan is dangerous amounts of radiation highly concentrated in one area of the ocean, as well as radioactive material being spread by ocean currents. By the time it reaches the US, it should be small enough amounts not to be noticable, but it is still of major concern for the ocean life in Japan.

I've searched for this but I'm not seeing any actual news reports. I've just seen comments pages so I'm not sure if it's too early for the news stories or if it's not real. I hope it's the latter. I love Japan and I have a lot of friends over there. I really hope they will be okay.

I'm starting to think some of the information provided may not be true such as one image showing the predicted spread of radiation proving to be a hoax. (It was a picture of the predicted wave height from 2011 tsunami) Still I DO believe that large amounts of radioactive material are leaking into the pacific and it could and most likely will have a large negative impact on life in that region. I hope this doesn't get really out of hand, well... maybe it already is out of hand... I'm just saying the fallout from this will not be good, the best we could get now is radiation contamination in a small region but even that is bad. Hopefully this thing wont affect the entire pacific coast.
