What is your greatest asset?

Or, for those who don't understand what I'm going on about, 'What part of you are you most proud about?' I'm not talking about possessions here, just about the value of one's capablities as a person.

I was thinking about this earlier while playing the piano, and I've come to the realisation that my free improvisation (not following a chord pattern as in jazz) absolutely blows away anything else I can do in terms of music. I mean, there's so many techniques and theory that I probably use without even knowing much about it.

Don't feel bad about bragging, we all know we all have a dark side. I'm just intrigued as to what you have to have to say about yourselves (on a more serious note, of course).

Well...I'm most proud of how I can basically learn anything quite easily.

What I mean is that while working on schoolwork, I can usually learn the material at hand in seconds, which usually explains my good grades. While my friend would sit there struggling to work on it, I'd be done with it already.

I managed to complete a 2 hour Scientist test in 30 minutes and I even scored higher than the state and school average.

It feels really awesome.

So are talking about skills here or positive personality traits? Or both? Comprehension is NOT one of my strong points. :P

I suppose one could be my strong ear for music and to a lesser extent, eye for art. I have a deep appreciation for music and when I listen to it, I appreciate nearly every detail of the sound. I have been told by my choir teacher (an atheist in choir, that was fun) that I have a great ear for music and even though I have no self esteem, I cannot ignore his words, because he is basically a musical god. Not over exaggerating there either, he is really that good. I am not that good at playing instruments or creating music, but I can definitely tell what sounds good.

I have a feeling that there might be other 'assets' of mine that are worthy of note, but my before mentioned self esteem issues make them hard to see for myself. If I think of anything else, I guess I will post again. Who knows.

My best two qualities are the ability to make anybody laugh and make people want to be around me. I'm just a big, loud, lovable teddy bear in real life and I'm very friendly and welcoming.

Hmm, very interesting, probably my ability to learn from watching, analyzing in head, and then trying to copy things. This would explain why I'm best at languages and somewhat in music. I mean, all you do is copy the way people talk and how notes are one after the other and that's it!

Yes, a bragging thread my favourite! :D JK. I guess I always like to improve as a person and I have a pretty good ear for music as well :)

Eh, My best assets are that I am quite skilled at video games (May be bragging, but it is true. I learn rather quickly.), I'm a quick thinker when it comes to solving problems that are chore or work related, and I am quite the experimenter. :)

My best asset is that I have a near photographic memory.  I can read something and I can repeat it with almost perfect accuracy.

I guess being a very open sited person is a good quality... I don't think I have vary many great or good qualities about myself to be honest with you.

Maybe my natural drawing talent... Iv always been able to just pic up a pencil and have something look fairly decent, even when I was younger about elementary school.

Iv never really had a hard time taking things out of my head and putting it on to paper or draw it out so its visible outside of my head.

I dont know anything else other than that but, Im sure someone sees something in me that I don't.

Not bad! Yes I meant 'qualities'. Basically anything about you that is worth anything more than being a novelty. I'm no slouch at drawing but unfortunately my style isn't one that would come in handy with other areas of work, so I had to discount it.

I guess even by looking in my eyes they cant tell otherwise. im an expert at wearing a mask I guess lol....sorry that was kinda depressing what I just wrote but I don't have any special talents worth mentioning.

As much as I really lack self esteem (at least that's what other people are saying) I'm pretty much satisfied with direction I've taken in guitar playing. Since I've grabbed guitar for first time I wanted to write dark, atmospheric metal songs and after 2 years of writing generic metalcore stuff I'm finally taking direction I always wanted to. Right now I'm finishing my first "official" song (I need to finish and clean up a bit guitar parts and write keyboard parts) and I really can't wait to finally upload it on YouTube.

I have an easy time learning, but only the things I want to learn. So basically things I take an interest in, I completely obsess over them. Like cars are a good example, I try learning about everything which includes the engine. So I learn everything about engines, then the small parts.. Then I add to my interests, I used to be obsessed with math.. Yeah, that did help. lol Basically, I obsess over things and learn them, I can take things apart in my mind and learn how they work. The way I see things in my mind helps me understand stuff. Sort of like a mind map, virtual map where I see how stuff works. I see it as clearly as you can see this text I'm writing, I see an engine and I could take it apart and put it back together. I can picture everything, I have a good photographic memory and I'm enthusiastic for everything I'm interested in. Problem is though, I usually don't use my knowledge since I'm rather shy so even though I have pictured the answer to some math problems I don't tell anyone or even write it down. The way my mind works, could help me invent a lot of stuff since I see it sort of like a 3D model. I see every detail of it, simply from thinking about it. The problem is though, I do sometimes loose interest.. When that does happen, I completely stop thinking about the stuff I was obsessed about. It has happened a lot, except for cars.

I used to obsess over science, math, physics and pretty much everything. Then I loose interest and sort of forget stuff, it's always easy for me to dig into my good old database I call my brain. I guess, that's probably my greatest asset a great brain that works like a 3D model and I can literally be lost in thought visualizing as clearly as a computer 3D model would. Without having to put any effort into it. This is why I hardly talk in real life, I am inside my brain thinking, visualizing pretty much everything. The day today, future, past, inventions, computers, cars and even people.

To explain further, how other people see people:

people.jpg

Now how I see people:

labels+of+Human+Anatomy.jpgHuman-anatomy-zygote.jpg

No wonder I used to be obsessed with becoming a doctor, then one day I lost interest.. No longer want to become a doctor, but I sure had the potential. I just don't have the interest anymore.

So yeah, I guess it's my brain. Physically I'm not great anyway.. :/ I have a few talents, I guess it's driving but that's only because of my brain. So yeah, my brain. :)

My greatest, but also worst, asset is my open mind. I am open to all types of thoughts and idealogies and I feel I have some level of objectivity that most others don't or even deliberately refuse to have.

This has gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion though. To the point I'm certain some people are scared of the type of person I am or could be in the future.

Between questionable moralities, a whimsical nature and my open mind I've gotten into more than a few pickles where I could not properly defend myself because in the eyes of others some things should never be talked about, agreed with or even contemplated on the level that I do. I'll leave such things to your imagination.

Honestly, with such a low confidence that I have, I can't really see any good qualities in me. So I can't answer the question

But one thing that I've received certain praise for (mostly online), is how I always stick to my opinions, and don't give up on them (not that I'm narrow-minded, but can always back them up). They also say that I am good at counter-arguing. I personally believe my ability to debate is comparable to a monkey, but whatever....

The ability to stick to your guns on your thoughts and opinions is signs of a strong resolve and some level of understanding of the self. Those who are uncertain of what they say often don't have a full understanding of why they believe what they do.

I can't decide... I'm going to post my two greatest assets.

First is my work ethic. I am not a lazy person at all when it comes to work, I will do whatever I can to make sure the task at hand gets done fast and right. In the past, I have shown up to work over an hour ahead of schedule after a really bad rain to check that everything was as it should be and to fix whatever wasn't. I simply care about what I do.

My other greatest asset is my strong sense of empathy. The ability to essentially lift the emotions from other people has helped shaped me in many ways to become who I am today. It forms an absolutely massive part, if not all of my moral compass as well.

Lets see.... I suppose for me it would be my determination. Once I start doing something, I will usually not stop until it is finished.

I also happen to have an extensive collection of knowledge in my head. That happens when you read a lot.

My computer. My second greatest being my smartphone. I built this computer for about $600 and sold my old one for $200 so it only cost me $400 to upgrade. My smartphone is a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2.

One of my better assets is that I always know where I need to be. Whether it is in sports or in school or anywhere else. I will always be in the right place at the right time. Another one of my greatest assets is my large amount of random knowledge stored in my head from reading all the time. It's such a rewarding feeling in history class when the teacher asks a question that nobody knows the answer except for you because it was just some random trivia you knew.

It is a bit hard to pinpoint one for me, I was able to learn to read music and play the piano relatively quickly and composed songs even before I knew how to read music. I have crafted myself into a fairly capable writer able to write both commentary and stories and have some experience and success in public speaking.

I can learn almost anything within between 10 minutes to an hour, depending on what it is. It's what sets me apart from most everyone in my school, and puts teachers in awe.
