Hello everypony does anybody else feel like this place is in need of a riddles thread? Of course you don't, well you didn't but now the thought is in your head so we might as well do it now wink.png .

Here's a riddle I learnt off a mate: Pull me out and strike my head, what once was Red is Black instead.

What am I? :P

Matches I believe.

A man walks into a pub and sits down at the bar, and simply orders a water. The bartender looks at the man, and then, quickly pulls out a shotgun and points it at the man. The man says "Thank you," and leaves. Why did they behave this way?

(this is one of my favorites)

Simple. The man had hiccups, and the bartender used a good scare to cure them.

Riddle me this...

There is a house. Everybody inside leaves. The last to do so turns off all of the lights. As a direct consequance of this act, 60 people die.

What kind of house is it?

Yes. It is a lighthouse. And the answer to you riddle I believe is he rides a horse called Monday.

A Quarter to Two.

A man worked at a high security institution. The man tried to log into his computer and the computer denied the password. He then remembered that the passwords to the computers were reset every month for security reasons. He called his boss for his new password.

The man said, "Boss, my old password is out of date."

The boss said, "Yes, it is. The new password is different, but if you listen closely you will be able to figure out the new one. Your new password has the same amount of letters as the old one, and four of the letters are the same."

The man then logged into his computer with no trouble. What was the new password? What was his old?

I want to say the red coats of the Revolutionary War but it doesn't sound correct. Anyway here is one:

I am red but not blood, I am green but not grass, I am yellow but not the sun. What am I?

I heard this one in class the other day so I don't think I said it correctly, but it is close.

A fried egg.

As for the apples, you can cut one apple into 17 pieces. Or just eat one and hand the rest out. And here are some characters to get passed 100.

You got the first one right smile.png

The second one however you were just a bit off

The answer to the second riddle is to make apple sauce.

Here is a math puzzle. You are a contestant on a game show. Here are the rules: There are 3 doors. Behind 1 of the doors is a prize. There is nothing behind the other 2. In round one you can choose a door, but do not open it. Then the host will open one of the OTHER doors that you did not choose. However, the host must open a losing door, not the winning door. After he opens one of the losing doors you have the option to keep the door you picked (which you haven't opened yet), or switch to the other closed door (the one the host did not open). The question is, what is the probability of winning if you keep your first choice, and what is the probability of winning if you switch in round two?

@@BronyNumber42, Theoretically you can still pick the door you know has nothing, making your chance of winning 33.33% . Seeing as nobody in their right mind would pick the losing door, the prize is either in your door or the other door, making your odds overall 50%. The question asks what the probability is if you stay, keeping your chance at 33.3%, but if you switch, you will switch to the door that was not opened, sadly this does not improve your odds. We know it was not in the opened door, but if you switch, the door you were at is no longer an option, meaning the remaining door could still be a loser. You might as well stay, seeing as your odds will be the same either way.

TL;DR: Your odds in both scenarios are 33.33%. I think...

I washed my face in water
That was never rained or run.
I dried it with a towel
That was neither wove nor spun.

What am I?

(The answer has two parts; one answer per sentence.)

I think you misunderstand. In round 2 there are the 2 doors that you did not pick. One or both are losers. If you happened to pick the winning door in round 1 then the other 2 are losers. The host opens one. If you picked a loser in 1 then then of the remaining 2, the host must open the loser, leaving the last the winner. By picking a loser in round 1 you force the host to open the other loser leaving the winner.. If you choose to keep your first pick then your odds of winning are 1/3. If you switch your odds of winning are 2/3.

A combination of misunderstanding the question and being bad with numbers. laugh.png

Sorry you had to reveal the answer before a more worthy adversary got to the question.
