movies/tv Remake ideas and opinions.

After watching a couple of WatchMojo videos, this idea came to me. What films would I like to see remade and rebooted?

Remakes are some of the most hated and controversial films, but quite a few are pretty damn fantastic (1982's The Thing is one of the greatest horror movies ever and is a remake of 1951's The Thing from Another World). Hell, we are united due to our shared love of a rebooted cartoon.

So are there any films (or games, etc) that you would like to see given another chance? Which ones, why and how?

Come on, give us your ideas!

This... is a valid question. It took me a minute, because I generally dislike remakes, but that's because the system is more likely to remake a movie that has already made a lot of money because it was 'good'.

However, if a filmmaker takes a risk on a mediocre to bad movie, or one that could do with resetting for those that were very much a product of their time, and makes it *better*, then that's perfectly fine.

Here's one I'd like to see remade. It wasn't a bad movie at all, but it's a hard one to rewatch because it is so very 70's and is almost nothing like the original book it was based on.

Logan's Run.

Yes, I'm aware of the attempted remake that's been going on since the mid-90's, but honestly they need to scrap whatever they've got and start over. Whenever a movie project breaks the 5-year mark with nothing to show for itself, it's officially a disaster. This one's been going on for *20* years.

They need to remake the last few Harry Potter movies because they did a horrible job on them. Especially the 6th one...holy crap, that movie was garbage compared to the book. They just butchered the hell out of it, seriously.

I keep thinking that Waterworld was a good idea that was badly executed.

To directly quote Roger Ebert: "The cost controversy aside, Waterworld is a decent futuristic action picture with some great sets, some intriguing ideas, and a few images that will stay with me. It could have been more, it could have been better, and it could have made me care about the characters. It's one of those marginal pictures you're not unhappy to have seen, but can't quite recommend."

The film wasn't bad, but they could easily have created a series out of this (a trilogy of movies or a tv series). We get stuff like game of Thrones now, why not an interesting idea like Waterworld?

Basically, any movie that had a good concept but was horribly made should have a remake.

Take North, for example...it could've actually been a cute family comedy. But instead...it's very unfunny and is so racist that the stereotypes aren't even stereotypes of those countries--they're just made-up by people who obviously didn't do their research. Seriously, they could've done something that was at least decent...

(Actually, I think a lot of things the Nostalgia Critic reviewed could've been great movies--they were just placed in the wrong hands. Ya know what I mean?)

Do I even have to say it? Maverick Hunter X2-X6(X8?)

The series starts to lose it's focus in X2 and by X4 it pretty much becomes Megaman Zero(and he'd still end up getting that series regardless). It's really sad that the only game in the X series after the first game that felt like it was still about X was just the Command Mission spin-off(an awesome spin-off, bust still just a spin-off) I'd like to see them do them continue the series focusing on X's "Limitless Potential" like X1 intended.

I think remakes could be great, but only if they're made out of appreciation to the original and not just to milk money out of people who watched it.

Yes. Yes. God yes. One million times yes.

I personally like remakes that give a new spin on an idea (I saw a Chinese film called The Banquet a few years ago which was an Asian version of Hamlet and freaking awesome!) or fix a franchise that has gone to pot somehow.

I could defiantly see Fahrenheit 451 rebooted to today's audience. Looking at the film today makes it dated as heck. And since it's a timeless story, I could obviously see it have a chance being remade.

I'de like there to be a remake of Eragon, it's one of my favourite books but the movie butchered it completely, they should remake the movie and stay true to the books, if they did it properly they could do a movie per book and get 4 movies out of it. The original movie crams content from the 2nd and 3rd books in a 15 min segment at the end. -.-
