Does the 'Best Pony' Always Have to be a 'Mane Six' Character?

I have said this before but 'best pony' is in reference to most important pony in the show, which would be the mane character; Twilight Sparkle. She is the best pony of the show. Ponies need to drop the phrase when they refer to their favorite pony which may be any pony.

Best pony and then saying of the Mane 6 is basically saying "Which of the Mane Six is your favorite?" When I choose my favorite pony, I don't want to have limits as that keeps it from being my favorite. I think most people think of the same way, but the Mane 6 is just the most popular naturally since they are the main characters.

I suppose it comes down to how you define "best pony." To me "best pony" means your favorite pony, as I can't really see, truthfully, how one can objectively define a best pony. My first favorite character wasn't even part of the Mane Six. It was Spike. So was Spike best pony?

 

Later on it was Twilight, then Fluttershy, and after seeing "Party of One" it was Pinkie Pie from then on since, for me, it added depth to her character and made me appreciate her more. However, I've seen people name many non-mane-six characters as "best pony" based on their own preferences and reasons.

 

I say best pony is whomever you choose it to be. It's not a term to be taken seriously. Discussion of why should just be all in good fun, whether we agree or disagree with our choices. ^.^

I honestly believe anypony can be best pony, me myself being a pinkie fan, but sometimes I find myself wondering if there's really a best pony to begin with. If there was an actual canon "best pony", I'm sure Hasbro would be marketing that character like a mofo.

No, not necessarily. It is called "Best Pony" after all; not "Best Mane 6 Pony." To me, pony seems like a broad enough term to include all ponies available for "Best Pony." Plus, it would be unfair to all the other great ponies out there to limit "Best Ponies" to only the main characters. So no, I don't think "Best Pony" always has to be part of the Mane 6.

Not at all. I've even seen some people say that characters like Chrysalis and Discord are best pony, which doesn't even make sense in context. It's all about who you like best.
