music Sail (AWOLNATION Cover) [ReProduced]

I know this had been done a million times, but I think this could be worth your time.

 

While I was making video game music, I heard "Sail" by Awolnation again and for some reason I wanted to cover it. I thought about finding an instrumental and going the easy way out but I decided against that. I got everything I needed and reproduced it and then slapped some guitar and vocals on there to add my own personal touch.

I put a ton of work into this because reasons. For those interested, most of the tracks like vocals and guitar are double tracked (which to me seems like a lost art in itself). The really weird voices is me using a vocoder. I did not use any autotune on this track.

 

I'd like to hear your opinion on this, be it good or bad.

It's a good listen. 

 

My only gripe was the percussion was rather simple. It felt kind of bland with that repetition. Maybe have several percussion lines, with one serving as the main and two serving as back-ups and fills. 

In the original, AWOLNATION had both an electric and acoustic drum set.

it was good. i liked the vocal changes you made.

tough what the original song gives it's immense power are the heavy use of percussion on the riffs, and i felt like your version lacked those a bit.

overall i would give this a 8/10 could be better, but definately not the worst

I appreciate both of your responses. I agree, I need to work on my percussion tracks more. Believe it or not, I'm actually a decent drummer but I have nothing to record them with. I also find it very irritating to mess with sampled drums on here, but I need to work on it. I'm glad you enjoyed the song.
