two parters, less or more?

How do you feel about the show getting two part episodes.
Now with out thinking I LOVE MORE.

 

But when forced to think,

i'm reminded of equistra girls.  The writing staff has been known to blow it (the wedding) when they have more time to work with.

I know alot fans wanted keep calm and flutter on to be a two parter,

but knowing what we do about the writing staff,

the only thing really wrong about that episode is it feels rushed.

 

We all just assume John Delancy would carry the day and blind us to any of the writing staffs boners (yeah, i gotta admit lol i agree),

 

but would magical mystery cure been guaranteed to be better as two or we might have had twice the mess.

I think it depends, they sometimes try and cram to much in, even in 2 parters (a canterlot wedding would have benefited from being a bit longer tbh). I like the short episodes that build up into a bigger story over time though S1 was great

Uhhhh... How the heck was The Royal Canterlot Wedding bad? It was one of the best episodes, period! What do you think was so wrong about it?

 

Oh and whether we all want it or not apparently the last episode of season 3 is just part one of not just a two parter but a three parter.

Well, dude, I like it like it is now.

 

The only problem I had with any of them was in the wedding, but that's just because "I'm powered by love!" Is a stupid concept for how a villain gets powerful. I actually enjoyed the rest of the episode.

 

So, naturally, since I've enjoyed them all, there'd be no way I'd want it to be less.

 

But, also, 2-parters usually have the best plotline, and are the most attention grabbing, at least in my opinion; if there were a lot of them, it'd not only make it harder for the writers to keep belting out good stuff, but it'd be overkilled in my opinion.

 

I guess I'm saying 2-parters are like alcohol:

It depends because, the writers tend to put as much as they possible can in two part episodes and instead of being longer it was actually shorter. I do like two part episodes if they add up to a great story, with a good payoff. But, even in some good episodes they tend to forget some important details.

I'm ok with having the first two episodes and the last two episodes of a season as two parters. I think the show functions better in that manner since there is one central idea per episode. In two-parters, there is generally one central idea for both episodes. More one parters would mean more ideas can be explored.

Actually i happened to like shinning armor and cadence,

but imposter cadence is a giant moron lol.

 

and that's my point about tacking on,

 

magical mystery cure being a three parter adds to being a small pile of mistakes to "what if it all ends up a train wreck?"

 

I mean one bad episode, at the end of the day is going to be one bad episode.

Anyways I think that the Wedding Episode was good because it had a fight scene, Twilight was used as a machine gun a male actually had more than 2 words to say who WASN'T Snips or Snails the villain song was magnificent and the villain went out a la Team Rocket. Sure the plot had some stupidity but what episode doesnt?

I think 2 parters are fine when the episode has alot to cover and needs more time, but it isn't needed all the time.

 

I think that typically after a 2 parter they shouldn't really need much if any extra time.

 

But i enjoy long episodes on occasion.

and yes machine gun twilight is a defining moment in life itself ^^.  But you could put that in any bad episode and be like "get out of jail free, this episode no longer sucks."  The only way it would been funnier is if twilight would started complaining about it lol while pinkie was cranking her tail.

I think they should just keep two parters as season openers and finales. I'm only okay with them being when necessary (and those usually try to be epic so that's why they're necessary)

 

For all those normal episodes, they do only need one episode to cover (with Keep Calm and Flutter on being the exception.)

A lot of episodes, in my opinion, really should have had 2 parts. Episodes like MMC (which half of that episode was songs) felt way too rushed and crammed. They really shouldn't have made episodes such as that so unorganized and busy. Other episodes it feels like there isn't enough, but that's for one to judge.

Many TV shows have two part episode and whether this makes those episodes better is so subjective. What makes an episode good itself highly subjective. The writers should take as much time is need.
