Scootadress 361 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Everyone was seeing the thread over Christmas, and when I responded, I grew angry. Why? It was not because of the thread, nope. I love Christmas, but what I hate was the shopping portion of Christmas. The act of shopping doesn't bother me. The fact that even months before Christmas, they have advertisements! Seriously. October is when you'd see Halloween commercials, or rather, your SUPPOSED to see Halloween commercials. Beginning: THANKSGIVING End:CHRISTMAS Let the damn holiday come already! Then I realized it was probably do to Black Friday. I never understood the whole anger towards it until it happened to me. Seriously. Waited in line at a Target just to nearly have a person cut in line. On top, I freaking almost get hit by a car! Best Buy did a commercial. I WAS ON IT. The line was super long...God. Too long. I guess I like the thrill of the hunt, but hate the whole thing in general. What are your thoughts? 3 SCOOTALOO = Best CMC PINKIE PIE=Best Pony LUNA=Best Princess
lomk 20,663 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 When it comes to Black Friday, for me...nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope. I hate Black Friday. The huge savings thing just isn't enough to bring me in. That doesn't outweigh having to deal with greedy people in there who will steal shit out of your cart because they want it. I mean seriously, the greed of people REALLY comes out at this time of the year. 4 I refuse to let go until you're impressed. I refuse to let go until I'm depressed. GhostPony750 959 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 (edited) shopping portion of Christmas.This. The society is too materialist. All I ask is a great party with my family, not gifts everywhere. But well, it's a good way to keep the economy alive I guess... As long as we have great family reunions, it's fine for me. I guess we don't need epic huge sales, and it's dangerous anyway, seriously. Oh, and I fear crowds. Bad idea to go here. Edited November 3, 2013 by GhostPony750
MelancholicMemory 2,025 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 It's racist. I personally never go out for Black Friday because I am neither crazy enough to camp out and get some really cheap stuff nor stupid enough to just go to the store without a plan and get trampled by the crowd. I stay at home that day for my own safety. Anyway, I'm used to the whole American materialism thing and if people wanna do Black Friday, I think that's okay. fimdash 1,196 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I used to go every year with my dad. It was pretty exciting checking out all the deals at the stores, and it was also a nice way to bond with my dad. Since my birthday is in December, which is not too far off from Black Friday, I would get my birthday present early sometimes if there were something I wanted with a significantly reduced price. I'll probably go check some stores out again this year. I hate hearing about those cases where people get into fights or where people get trampled to death though :/ When people start getting hurt and even killed over getting items for a cheaper price, that's pretty messed up.
Shanks 10,816 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I hate crowds and loud noises so for that reason alone I say not just no to Black Friday but hell no. The one thing I hate even more than that though is idiots and Black Friday really brings them out. What kind of braindead moron is willing to push people in line, get in fights and trample people to death just to get some stuff. I appreciate a good deal too, but no deal is worth dealing with all the zombie hoards too wrapped up in their greed and mass consumerism to even bother with logic, common sense or even respect and common courtesy. 2 Rarity Get's Cockroaches
MotoBrony 77 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I find Black Friday terribly hypocritical considering it takes place the day after you're supposed to give thanks for all you have in life.
Equin Starbeat 22 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 (No offence) I hate the way Black Friday is. You know people have to go to work on Thanksgiving and almost nobody will be able to have a nice family dinner. I think stores like Macy's and JcPenny should give thanks to have workers who are there and let them have that day off. 2 Acceptance is best
Game Design 15 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 OMG FINALLY! SOMEONE THAT UNDERSTANDS!!!! It bothers the crap out of me when this happens every year! And whats even worse is, their was a radio station thats already playing Christmas music! I even saw an advertisement for Christmas shopping and it wasn't even Halloween yet! Ugh. That stuff really grinds my gears.
PinkieUniverse 31 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Thanksgiving: Holiday that is supposed to be about being thankful for what you have. Black Friday: Day almost right after Thanksgiving where people storm into stores, possibly trampling other people, and fight over things they want. Some how that doesn't feel right. 1 Awesome Scoots signature by Ticking Timebomb
Mio Akiyama 145 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Screw the savings. Go in, buy a few TVs, wait a few months, sell, profit. Either that or buy something you've wanted but didn't buy(like a video game) because you were smart enough to wait for a price-drop. Will I be trampled, nope. Will i fight someone? I will if they start it. I prefer the internet version of Black Friday though. Was it Cyber Monday? I don't even know, but lots of cool stuff on the internet y'know?
CT-1138 3,182 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I find the entire event a disgusting socio-analysis of American society and personally find the year that enough fatalities occur to ban the event highly anticipating. Celtore 2,770 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 (edited) You could say that I don't buy the idea... (sorry, I really can't help myself sometimes...) But yes, I think that the name "Black Friday" is a perfect fit. From what I've seen, it's basically mass consumerism gone mad. I haven't had to deal with that kind of crowd, but I would just abandon my shopping duties until the next day if I somehow got stuck in that mess. Whatever I was going to get just isn't worth the stress. Edited November 3, 2013 by Celtore
Bold Shadow 23 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I absolutely hate it. People should be at home spending time with their families on Thanksgiving, not having to go to work because of someone else's greed.
Koelath 445 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Black Friday is disgusting. Not for the hassle or materialism, but for the sheer monstrosity that it somehow brings out in people. All I'm saying is that I've never heard of anyone being stabbed to death or trampled shopping for Halloween candy or a pumpkin pie.
-Nobody- 519 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I love it. The only night of the year I can afford anything. But in all seriousness, I think the media kind of blows up things like people getting hurt in stores because it's on Black Friday. I've heard of people getting hurt inside of wal mart on normal days, too. I've also never been in, or actually seen a Black Friday fight, in real life, and places seemed kind of dead last year, so there was like no shoving. I'm just nobody at all... Lady Leopardess 393 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I think people get super crazy on black friday and I feel like it takes away from Thanksgiving, especially now with stores that are normally closed Thanksgiving night opening , which means workers will have to miss Thanksgiving with their family to deal with shopping lunatics. Then again I work at a 24 hour store so I'm sure I"ll have to work Thanksgiving or black friday or both....

Speaking as a Metalhead, it's one hell of a song, though Not sure if you know/not know , but basically our Thanksgiving holiday always is on a Thursday. (day of giving thanks 'n such) The friday after that has been dubbed " Black Friday" It's basically the official kick off of the Christmas season ,where basically 90% of stores have super crazy holiday sales for either the entire day or for certain hours in the morning. To get the best sales (in things like electronics) people wait in lines before the store opens so they have a chance at high ticket items as there's limited quantity . Each year it basically gets more intense with people and stores opening earlier and earlier ( it used to start at normal opening time but each year it gets earlier). A newer trend is " Cyber Monday" which is that monday after where it's internet sales based.
Envy 6,169 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Considering I owe having my HD TV and laptop to Black Friday sales (and my dad being crazy enough to wait outside for them... lol), I don't particularly dislike it. However, now I have to work it, and that's not so much fun. Everything needs more woodwind!
Creamy Arty 6,252 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Black Friday sales are typically no better than the sales you'll find throughout the rest of the year, except that every store is having some kind of sale most people might care about simultaneously. Not worth looking into them for me. I can get the same deals at various points throughout the year unless an item I want isn't going to become available until Black Friday. Besides, I don't like the thought of standing in massive lines and having to keep a hand by my revolver the whole time I'm walking through a parking lot because I'm likely to get jumped. My fondest Black Friday memories have been when sitting in a corner booth at Shoney's eating their breakfast buffet. I would comfortably sip my coffee while looking out the window, smiling contentedly as I watched cars drift through red lights to get into parking lots and then circle them a thousand times in search of a space, nearly hitting several other cars in the process. Imagine me smiling, eyes closed holding coffee just like in a commercial, but with the sound of horns and squealing tires in the background. That's the most I care to experience of Black Friday. 3 Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! Scootalove 10,689 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I usually like Black Friday, if they have good deals for customers and I think that the employees really deserve a lot of respect for what they put up with on that day.
