"Of course..." Smirked the trickster with a sweeping bow towards the changeling queen.

 

Things were finally getting interesting again - perhaps these three might prove more entertaining than he had thought. Floating lazily towards the exit to the room they were in, he motioned towards the passage that would head deeper into the mountain - into the labyrinth of tunnels and halls which would eventually allow them to reach any point they desired.

 

"Shall we?" He said in good humor with a flick of a talon. "We have guests to greet..."

Chrysalid huffed and got up from her chair. She would have liked to call it a throne but that would be more than an overstatement. Oh how she couldn't wait to reclaim her glory and rule equestria. But untill then she would make do

"So, what will I win when I win this game?"

"You wound me Chrissy! Is the entertainment not enough? The promise of revenge on the precious Twilight Sparkle and her little friends?" Discord lamented with the unwavering smirk on his face. "Fine... If you want to raise the stakes, how about we say... the first spoils when Equestria falls? I know you've had your most dazzling eyes on Canterlot for some time now...?" He drawled teasingly while leading the way through the tunnels: until reaching a solid wall.

 

A dead end.

 

With a yawn, he reached up and pulled at non-existent rope that didn't hang from the roof - watching as the wall opened up to a balcony looking over another pathway through the mountain - sunlight creeping in from either side. From their vantage point, they would have a perfect field of vision over the ponies approaching: while effortlessly remaining hidden in the shadows themselves.

 

"And now... we wait." He said excitedly as the sound of four ponies grew steadily closer.

Nightmare Moon followed behind the others through the passageway. The tunnels were lit, though dimly so - just enough to see where one was going - and that suited the mistress of darkness just fine. She found a comforting assurance in the shadows; they always brought about a feeling reminiscent of the beautiful night.

 

Along the way, she of course heard the conversation between Discord and Chrysalis, and again she found her interest piqued. The concept of the game alone was interesting, but turning it into a competition? Well, that was simply more motivation to follow through, and as efficiently as possible.

 

When they came to a dead end, the ex-princess had been about to voice her complaint about Discord's lack of direction - and then he opened the solid wall with a simple gesture. She remembered how she had somewhat admired him when she realized the power he had as the very embodiment of chaos itself, and how he put on such a show whilst demonstrating such power.

 

Though she was too proud to admit to any sort of admiration for her fellow conspirators, it was clearly part of the reason she agreed to work with them in the first place. That, and she simply knew that she could not take on those dreaded Elements of Harmony on her own - though she was also too proud to ever say so.

 

And so, she waited for the game to begin, her ears swiveling to better catch sounds as she listened to the pawns approaching.

Facing towards the one way 'mirror', Sombra turned to look at the sweet little piles of fear.  Each of them had a different thing they were afraid of and Sombra could see it just by looking at their faces; sweet, sweet fear.  As the ponies approached the mountain, he noticed one that was dressed in a military uniform with an aqua-ish colored coat, to himself he thought.  'This could be very interesting.  I might take her prisoner.'  This competition would be most entertaining indeed, but it very well might be a bit un-matched; his highness is the king of fear, known all over Equestria as a tyrant who ruled with an iron fist and the one who could, with a simple glance, immediately know what you fear and how to make it worse.  

 

Sombra stood there, silent, observant and waiting for the 'slaves' to arrive...thats all those 4 were to him: slaves of the mind.

Chamois walked along behind Gloomfury, looking suspiciously around as the group of four slowly made their way up the staircase of the mountain.  It was obviously to anypony who looked at her that she was tense.  Chamois glanced ahead to the steps in front of Gloomfury, just waiting for them to set off a trap.

Does anypony else find this extremely...stupid? a little voice asked in the back of her mind.

Fire walking behind the group, making sure that they all stayed together, though they weren't all in a straight line. The zebra and herself were pretty much on par, so she could see gloomfury and Chamois in front of her. And Fire could notice that she was slightly tense, the other unicorn must be nervous about these kind of things, maybe claustrophobia? 

So fire that maybe she could help her out, maybe by just distracting her from the close spaces.

"Hey, Vine? You alright in here?"

Chamois jumped as the mare addressed her.  She looked over her shoulder, immediately cursing herself for having been so shocked by the sudden sound. 

"Er...y-yes.  I'm fine," she said.

Heh, really?  You just jumped ten feet into the air, the voice snickered in her head.

Demence watched the events play beyond him. It seemed almost alien to him, that they could get along so well after so little time had passed. He couldn't help but smile, but it disappeared almost instantly when he remembered why he was here. If that was why he was here. He could be walking into a trap, and he would never know until it happened.

They continued up the staircase like they had been for a while now.  She was starting to feel a bit tired from having walked to the Everfree forest - which was all the way across town from her home - to the mountain, and then up this odd stone staircase.  Despite this, she was fully awake and aware.

But she really did have a very bad feeling...

As four figures came into view, Discord smirked.

 

"Ahem, allow me to demonstrate..." He chuckled, raising his taloned arm into the air: where it promptly vanished from view as if passing through an unseen window. Reaching about, he frowned in an annoyance and raised his face up to the rift in the air - peering through before chuckling and retuning to his entertained expression.

 

"I presume you are not against a demonstration my dear? I assure you that this one would not be the one you would have selected... though I believe that you will be quite satisfied with some of the choices! Oh yes..." He said lazily to the Changeling Queen - not waiting for an answer before his eyes flashed and he reached further upwards sharply...

The ground shook ever so slightly around the four ponies: there was a brief pause - everything once again becoming peaceful before the rift appeared beneath Chamois with a loud 'snap'. Nothing happened for a moment other than the rainbow void shifting - covering the ground under the mare before a comically sized grasping talon lunged out of it - snatching at her.

Standing there and witnessing the spectacle before him made Sombra smirk, this was entertaining for him; seeing ponies be kidnapped just to have them become evil and work for them.  Things might work out for them yet, 'As long as we don't screw up, this should go well.' thought Sombra.  "I see, let's see here..." his dark horn stated to glow with a black hue and started to form a dark hand, slowly going towards the rift.

A few seconds after the first taking, a dark, magical hand slipped through the rift like oil and quickly grabbed at a ponies neck, causing them to give off and audible gasp of air as their wind pipe was constricted.  Then, faster than ever, they magical hand pulled the pony out from the rift and right in front of the tall unicorn.  Keeping the manifested hand around the neck, Sombra turned around started to walk down the stairs to the dungeon; the place where his 'experiment' would begin.

Fire had a look of horror as Vine was pulled down into the earth, the earth around them splitting open as well. And then something came up around her neck, constricting her airway. 

Everything was moving way too fast, and Fire Sharp ended in front of another pony. Though things were ending up to be a little blurry, her brain not getting enough air for it to work properly. Though from what she could see definitely a stallion, and dark fur and mane. 

Fire was held suspended, her hooves just above the ground. She wasn't choking just yet, her throat had been subjected to this many times before, but soon her neck wouldn't be able to last any longer at it, she would need to breathe soon.

Chamois jumped as the rift appeared beneath her.  She had been expecting a trap obviously, but nothing as sudden and strange as this.  She had nowhere to run what with Gloomfury in front of her, and the other two ponies behind her.  The staircase was simply too narrow for that.  So, she did the thing anypony would do.

She screamed and tried to dodge out of the way. 

She heard a snap as the sharp talon scraped across the strap of her saddle bag and broke it, allowing the bag to fall right down through the rift.

"No!" Chamois cried out as her beloved bag fell out of sight.  She loved the items in the bag enough that tears prickled at her eyes even in front of the other ponies .

Chrysalis had to admit, this demonstration was pretty impressive. And also amusing. She couldn't help but feel as if she was missing out on something. I mean she was pretty much the only one who couldn't actually go down  to the staircase in some way. OH well. Guess plan B will have to do.

"Sombra dearie?" the queen asked, battering her eyes in a flirtish manner. "You wouldn't mind kidnapping that one for me, Would you?" pointing at Gloomfury.

Gloomfury quickly draws his knife. "I would love to see you try." He bears his sharp teeth like a wolf defending territory. "And let go of Fire and Chamois before I gut you all, dress your corpses and burn the rest of ya'll to a crisp!" He shouts with his eyes glazed over with anger.

But Sombra had already disappeared into the depths of the mountain, taking his victim into the bowels of his own madness.  Finally coming to the large, metal door leading to the chamber of this ponies fall into darkness.  Opening the door to the chamber, he manipulated the magical hand to grip tighter and throw the captured pony into the room, sending her flaying halfway through the room and causing her to crash onto the ground.  Vaporizing the hand he had been using, he strode into into the room as he smirked with his eyes began to turn green and purple trails of smoke leaked out of the sides as he shut the door with a THUNK and CLANK as it locked itself from the outside and in.

 Fire breathed heavily and wheezed when she landed on the ground, her ribs hurting and her throat the same. She heard the the door to the room she had been thrown into lock itself, though Fire was trying to keep herself awake. The pain was something horrendous, she was used to large amounts of pain, but with the added effect with her brain and not enough oxygen for it things were slightly worse.

"Oh come now dear - there's really no need for all that noise now is there?"

 

Pulling the pony through the rift, Discord took a moment to inspect her at his leisure: the others all seemed so rushed...

 

He didn't bother with restraints - magical or otherwise - considering that the mountain itself self would bend to his will... they hardly seemed necessary. Besides, they would only serve to terrify the poor filly further - something he was keen to avoid.

 

"Is that how we greet a new friend? 'No!'... It isn't very polite now is it? Would you like it if ponies introduced themselves to you by screaming and running away?"

 

He grimaced, knowing smile never leaving his face.

 

"Oh to be so misunderstood! It pains me, It really does!"

Chrysalis let out a "hmpf" in annoyance. "Fine. I guess I'll just have to do this myself." there was just one problem though. The queen didn't actually have a plan. Which irritated her greatly. The best she could think of was to trick him into coming along. Could work.

"You know, you don't have to waste your time trying to win against me. You could easily just walk off now. But then again, that won't help you friends now will it?"

Gloomfury looks over to the changeling queen with anger. "I hate backing down from a fight. What makes you think I won't win against you and you're bastard bunch? I won't stop till I'm cleaning all of your blood of my knife. And I will help the others,  you hear me you buggy harlot!" Gloom shouts with grate hostility.

Chrysalis simply laughed at his threat, even if she was slightly worried. "And how do you plan on doing that? You're outnumbered, and you know you can't win in there; even if you could out here!" She grinned, and leaned against the nearest wall. "You should just come quietly now."

Gloom spits on the ground. "Numbers don't mean shit. I can take you all and it'll end with me sticking your heads on a pike." He starts walking up to  Chrysalis. "And I don't care if all of you have powerful magic, I'll still end you." He gives Chrysalis deathly calm look. "I'd hate to hurt a pretty changeling like yourself, lass."

The damn changeling had a point. Most of the other are already taken and he doesn't know where they are. And even if we did take her down he than had to find the others and fight for other powerful beings. Gloom hated it but he had to do what she says. HE sighs and sheaths his knife and sighs. "Fine, what the hell do you want with us anyway?"

Progress! she had finally convinced him to do as she says. Took his time to agree. "Oh we're just going to cut you up and have you for dinner." She might as well have some fun now that she had him where she wanted him. "What else would we do with strangers?" giving a wicked grin, the queen turned around and gestured him to follow.
