This is the first time I've made a roleplay, so I hope it goes well!

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                 

 

'Tis a dark time in Equestria.

 

Since the collapse of the Elements of Harmony, Equestria has had no way to properly defend itself from the evils that reside in the land. An organization known only as "The Government" seized it's opportunity, and began to crusade throughout the kingdom, seizing all areas it passed through. The Government seeped through all of Equestria, taking control over town, cities, even individual homes. Not even the city of Cloudsdale, which at first had turned into a refuge for the land's Pegasi, was truly safe, as it was engulfed by The Government's reign. As The Government spread through the land, it grew more and more powerful, using the inhabitants of the cities and towns it controlled to increase the size of it's armies. Eventually, all that remained free in Equestria was Canterlot. The princesses, not wanting to harm their own citizens, were forced to surrender, leading to The Government's complete control over Equestria.

 

The Princesses were allowed to remain in their positions, but merely as figureheads. The only real political power in Equestria comes directly from The Government. New, harsh rules were instated, and punishments were made more severe. The entirety of Equestria is forced to work, building up The Government's power, resources and armies. It is no question that The Government's true goal is global domination.

 

In an attempt to stop The Government's plans, the three Princesses of Equestria, on the morning of the Summer Solstice, took action.  Princess Celestia raised the sun to it's highest point in the sky. Princess Luna raised the moon, placing it in front of the Sun, creating an eclipse. Using the power of the Eclipse to intensify her magic a thousand fold, Princess Cadence imbued four pendants with the magic of love. Together, the three Princesses took the pendants with their magic, each splitting into two halves, and teleported each half to a different pony across Equestria.

 

"Do you really think this will work, Celestia?" Cadence asked, a worried look on her face.

 

"All we can do is hope," Celestia responded, as the sound of The Government's soldiers grew nearer. "That the power of love shall not fail us."

Alright, so here's the basis for this RP:

 

It's set in a future time, beyond the era of the Elements of Harmony. An evil organization (The Government) has completely taken over Equestria. However, the princesses have a last hope: The Pendants. Each of the four pendants was split into two halves. Each half was sent to a different pony. These ponies just happen to be soul mates. The pendants work as such: As soon as you put them on, they will compel you to travel towards Canterlot. The closer you get to the pony that has the other half of your pendant (Your soul mate), the warmer your pendant will get. They won't really start getting warm until the two halves are within a distance of a mile or so. (1.6 kilometers, for anyone using metric) When you're in eyesight of the pony with the other half, the pendants will start to give off a faint glow, that increases as you get closer.

 

When the pendants connect, they will become whole again, and the power of love will immerse you and your soul mate. Once this happens, you'll have the power to stand against The Government's armies, but not The Government itself. Once all four pendants have been united, The power of love will overcome The Government's power, and Equestria will be rid of evil. Of course, in the Roleplay, you won't know this. :3

 

Each of you that join will be given a starting location in Equestria. Be warned, your starting location will be nowhere near your other half. It will be up to you to decide if you wish to travel with another.

Moon Pendant

Star Pendant

Heart Pendant

 

 

 

So, if you noticed that each pendant represents a cutie mark from one of the four canon princesses without looking at this spoiler, good on you!

If you looked at this spoiler and then noticed, don't be discouraged, instead proclaim that you really did notice without looking! This is the internet, after all!

 

 

 

 

 

Time for some rules!

 

1. No godmodding

 

2. No Mary/Gary sues

 

3. No Alicorns

 

4. Please refrain from accelerating time too much in your post. I don't mind a small amount, such as saying you walked down a path in one post, and that you arrived at a town in the next, but nothing major. Don't walk/fly all the way to Canterlot in one or two posts. Also, if you are traveling with others in your group, do not attempt to accelerate time until everyone in the group has posted at least once, and you have consent from the others in your group.

 

5. As the DM, I have control over when The Government acts as a problem/challenge towards your character. You can create your own, mini problems yourself, such as falling and twisting your hoof, or getting lost in a woods, but leave The Government to me.

 

6. Just to ensure you read these fully, please post a picture of Pinkie Pie in a top hat, smoking a pipe. Also, put it in a spoiler. Thanks!

 

7. I don't mind if you'd like an extra OC, but only one extra OC per person. Also, if you choose to use two OCs, I will choose which pendant piece your extra receives. That way, they will not have two halves to the same pendant, nor will they start near each other. If you are planning to use two OCs and someone else wishes to join (And we're full), I will ask you to stick to your original OC.

 

8. You'd think that a roleplay like this would have a set gender ratio, right? Not really. I'm not going to set one. I'm assuming it'll be primarily male and female partners, but if you wish to use a Colt Cuddler/Filly Fooler (CC/FF), I'm fine with that, as long as you have someone that will agree and roleplay with you. I'm not going to force someone else to use a CC/FF. If you don't have someone already that will agree to be your partner, You won't be able to use a CC/FF. Sorry.

Los Pegasus, Vanhoover, Apple Loosa, Dodge City, Fillydelphia and Baltimare

 

 

Alright, here's a map of Equestria, that way you can get a general idea of your starting location in relation to Canterlot.

 

 

Your starting location is predetermined based on which pendant piece you'd like.

Okay, here's the part I kinda accidentally left out. XD

 

The pendants posses the power of love, yes. However, nothing can create true love. The pendants give the wearers the power of love when united, but the ponies must unlock the ability to use it. You won't be able to use the ultimate power of love until you learn what true love is. It's kinda like how Twilight has always had insane magical ability, but has to learn to use it one step at a time. I hope that makes sense.

Character sheet!

 

Backstory: Alan was born under the rule of The Government. As a child, his parents kept him from being too happy, as was the law at that time. When he was 12, his father and older brother were taken and sent to join the growing army. From that point, Alan sunk into a state of slight depression. As soon as he turned 16, he was put to work, delivering important letters and packages to and from towns and cities. It was around this time he received his cutie mark. When he was 19, his mother took ill. He tried his best to care for her, all the while being forced to continue delivering letters and packages. On his 20th birthday, she died. The very next day, he moved to Apple Loosa, where he continued to deliver packages for the next 2 years.

I'd like to apply with something a little different - feel free to tell me if you don't like the idea:

 

Atheia is a Hippogriff - half pony, half griffon. (She's actually more pony that griffon)

 

She is a pacifist (can't hurt a living creature) who is studying under another of my characters: Bardic Knowlege. Bardic would travel with her but otherwise be unimportant story-wise, he is teaching her and acts as a last line of defence, since she is unable to defend herself normally.

Baltimare would probably be the most sensible starting place for them to start, since Bardic would have come from overseas and landed at horseshoe bay... though this isn't particularly important and could be changed depending on other players / characters.

 

Oh! Atheia is bisexual and Bardic is asexual (does not feel attracted to anything in that way)

I have a suggestion: Instead of having the pendants working right as they come in contact, how about they not work until you fall in love with the other pony? That gives it a bit more of a forced romance setting.

Changed backstory:

Arcane was born to a doctor and a nurse. Both had worked in a government controlled hospital, both poisoning and healing clients. The reason for this was to maximize profit by making the clients pay more. As Arcane grew, he came to dislike such a thing. Even though his parents didn't directly tell him what they do, he usually picked up on conversations happening in other rooms. Arcane was put in a very strict learning system, but he didn't care, since he enjoyed the studies and research. He excelled at his work, and was very quickly noticed by the government. The government contacted Arcane and offered him a job as a tech researcher, offering very little in pay. Arcane didn't care about the pay, as he was more interested in the research. He soon earned his cutie mark; an arcane symbol, representing his high skill in researching magical things. After a few years, he was moved into a larger facility in Las Pegasus.

In all seriousness now, I actually think that it's a creative and great character; and I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be in a romantic Rp if I said no, since 'love' should be a lot more powerful than differences. In other words, I'm alright with it; and I can even see it adding to the story line.

(unchanged part of backstory)

As a child (7), Gleaming heard a famous Lyricist telling about all the wonders of the human world on a stage, The words she said stuck within his young and easily influenced mind, for some time he believed he was human. As he grew he didn't drop this childish fantasy and took it very seriously.

 

Ponies avoided him and called him a loser and a 'thing' that didn't know what he was. The thoughts about all the names he was called kept him up late at night, and often made him fall asleep in class due to lack of sleep. He always claimed that he saw this weird thing in the dark when ever he tried to sleep, and this kept him up as well.

 

His parents got him help, but the therapist only made him feel worse. Lack of sleep caused what ever the therapist said to sound like he was threatening or insulting him; and the sleeping medicine (mostly sedatives because he didn't trust medicine) hurt. It took everything he had to pretend like he was better, and he left three years later, scared for life.

 

He was 10 the morning of his test (going home and going to sleep) he was panicking and fell on a little fire fly. He didn't necessarily crush it, but he did enough to where it had two very messed up wings. He felt terrible, for what he did even tough it was just an insignificant bug. He couldn't treat it like others treated him, to stomp on and then not care about what they did because he's worthless. So he took it to a unicorn who thought it was a strange request, (but by now everyone thinks he's lost it) but cast spells on it that would nurse it back to health. All he was told to do was look over it.

 

The night of his test, he was failing horribly; and hid under the covers. He was going to be taken back, but the bug started glowing; faintly, but still glowing. He picked it up and held it close to him underneath the covers and it made a small light. He slept peacefully that night, and the doctors didn't know he was cheating.

 

Time passed and the fire fly got better, but it's left wing was irreparable; so it decided to stick around and live in Gleaming's hair.

Everything was fine until he turned 14,

that was when the government started to take over Equestria. He was forced to flee his home in Cirro-nimbus and head towards los pegasus in hopes the this evil hadn't spread to all the skies. He felt safe for sometime, but then one day. That security of los pegasus was breached, and in poured the evil. He was forced into put to work by the government and is unable to leave. They viewed his unique case of insomnia as potential to be a great night guard. When he refused, they took Fi away. He was given her back when he complied. Now he's forced to spend the only time of his life that he enjoys being awake at a job with little too no pay. Along with all of the other problems he suffers mentally (others section in bio) his life could be in a better state.

 

Wanting to forget about at least some of his problems he changed his name to Insomni-Hack. (wasn't sure how bad the government was, and if there's anything wrong just tell me.)

Age: 21 for this roleplay

Gender: Female

Cutie Mark: Navy blue pony silhouette with a white question mark in it. (Represents her confusion of senses and her talent for making others the same way, LOL.)

Personality: Flux usually relies on others to tell her where she's going, especially her best friend Parasoul, and she can be a bit stupid at times. Due to her unique form of synesthesia, she can get really confused about certain things, and if she tells you you look like an oboe there's no reason to be concerned, that's just how she is.

However, despite this, Flux is pretty friendly, but her weird demeanor sets others off. She can be a bit of a gab at times, which gives others the impression she's a gossip, but she can be a little too open and this is just an unfortunate byproduct. She is not easily embarassed by others which can lead to her doing some pretty weird crap.

She has poor vision and stumbles a lot because her hair is too goddamn long.

There aren't any categories. XD It's not like the type of pendant you get is determinate on what your pony's cutie mark/personality is. I'm sorry if It sounded like that.

 

The reason the four pendants are shaped the way they are is to represent the four canon princesses' cutie marks.

 

Sun Pendant -    Celestia

Moon Pendant -  Luna

Star Pendant -    Twilight

Heart Pendant -  Cadence

 

I think I even put a spoiler in there addressing it. XD
