it may just be me, but if feel as though all it does is make people feel worse about themselves than they already do... the image of the models tells girls and women what they " should " look like, emaciated, tan, and tall.. what they don't explain is that much of this is fake... the tans are fake, the models starve themselves to provide "the perfect woman" image...the airbrushed model look not only makes girls and woman strive for unnatural and unhealthy goals.. but kills their self esteem... am i the only one that thinks[ this?post-21237-0-19000900-1386725610.jpg

uugh, they look scary.

this sounds more like an excuse for them to put out porn looking ads for men to watch rather then for women watch and think, "oh, so if i had walk around in my underwear, this would be the better buy." :okiedokielokie:

also, i mean really, look at their legs! no healthy woman would have thighs that thin. they really look just freaky. (than again, a lot of models look like this, but aren't showing their full body the whole time, so it isn't quite as noticeable.)

I think it's all for the necrophiliacs out there. A model is the closest they can get to doing a corpse without it being illegal. As horrible as the situation is, it is hard to not enjoy the irony of it. Our culture is driving obesity rates through the roof, yet somehow the "ideal" woman is half starved and wearing half of her weight in make-up. Personally, I am a bit freaked out by half dead women who are painted up like walking canvases, but there is obviously demand for this garbage.

I don't know about the rest of you, but seeing one of them in an advertisement for McDonald's would make me laugh my butt off.

Fall Out Boy played at the fashion show. Other than that, I don't care for it. But generally, I don't care for Victoria's Secret, all their stuff fits me weird.

The show doesn't look like it would hold my attention for a long time. Looking at walking skeletons, isn't exactly a match made in heaven. So, there's my opinion on it. But, I hate how they are subjected to this.

Man seriously they all look like they have the same weight

Regular fashion shows are bad enough but a show where the models just go out in bras and underwear EW! ^_^ Men just watch it for the eye candy but women do feel bad about themselves when they watch those models. These things do lower women's self esteem :(

So yeah I agree with you

Photoshop!!!1!!1

Have you ever seen an anorexic girl for real? It's creepy, seriously. But well, I don't usually watch tv, not at all actually, so I guess it won't affect me really much.

Their "perfection" make them look awful.

Or POD MODELS!! ^_^ Lol I'm totally kidding ^_^

What does this have to do with mlp? :P jk....

Idk it is probably all photoshopped yeah there is my opinion.

Nope because those same models appear on the fashion show. They probably just don't eat for days straight and exercise like crazy. There's no way you can keep that figure while eating normally. And that's why it's wrong to promote this so much. Women get the idea they have to eat less and go on crazy diets to match up to these bodies. It's not right and that's why women get sick alot these days from eating disorders :(

I find them to be extremely stupid and pointless. I find body shaming (whether the male/female is either skinny or a bit on the bigger side) to be more disgusting than having females prance around in bras, underwear and nothing more. If you're proud of your body, fine, but keep in mind people are only watching for the eye candy and nothing more. People need to remember that a good amount of models' bodies are all photoshopped anyway. Junk like does can run self-esteem down though and can lead to eating disorders, but saying that the models look "disgusting" isn't helping anything. Just like telling an anorexic boy/girl that they look "disgusting" is just going to make things worse. People just need to learn not to conform to society's standards of "beautiful", everyone has preferences and some might prefer these...."skeletons" like many of you have called it.

That's horrible :( I can't imagine what it must be like to go through such a condition at that age. I bet that even if they fake it most if not all of those models have anorexia -_-

Yes, I don't like any of those fashion type shows at all, not to mention that very VERY few women actually are that skinny and perfectly fit, it gives people the wrong idea of how a healthy women should look IMO.

I don't mind it. Models with barely any clothes on? Oh yeah! :D

On a serious note, as long as their ribs aren't showing, I don't mind. Ribs showing is disgusting. >.<

WOMEN ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE SOUPED UP MANNEQUINS!!!

They come in many different shapes, sizes and body types and while obesity is a problem the sooner people finally realize this the better. Ladies please don't starve yourselves most men do not find that attractive, alot of men even like a little extra padding if you know what I mean so long as it is nothing extreme of course. And starving yourself is incredibly unhealthy.

I think it's all for the necrophiliacs out there. A model is the closest they can get to doing a corpse without it being illegal.

At least you can say a corpse is already dead while these models make me seriously wonder how in the hell someone could possibly still be alive with their ribcage hanging out like that. If anything this is not for necrophiliacs but for zombiefiliacs, as hilarious as it would be to see them in Mc Donalds commercials it would really take the cake if any of them were in commercials for the Walking Dead.

It's soft porn.  Pure and simple.  >_>

You can sure say that again, it makes me softer than a feather pillow.

I think what also bothers me about this whole deal, is along with some things that others have listed, is that it also often results in a great big anti-skinny discussion. Everyone berates them for how they look and how their appearance makes women feel bad about themselves, but what about the ladies who are naturally that size, height, and so forth to begin with? It doesn't really accomplish the goal of making folks feel better about themselves, if you're just making someone else take the fall for it by tossing "ANOREXIA!!!" around every time this image shows up. It just brings up the same problem again, only on the opposite end of the spectrum. I have to wonder if some folks even know what true anorexia looks like.

Point being, I don't think anyone should tell anyone how they "should" look. After all, beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.

The only people the look that way naturally are people with freakishly quick metabolisms that don't gain a single pound no matter how much food they pack away which is a very very small portion of the population. The reason why this looks ugly to me is because it is just so fake and arbitrary, there are women that are naturally a little thinner that are beautiful that look good and ones that are naturally a bit more curvy that look good but you can't seriously tell me anything in the picture in the OP looks natural or healthy.

I never said the OP picture looked natural (although I don't like the idea that they should be made to feel ashamed of themselves for their bodies either). My point was that the general idea of making one group take the fall, as a means of making another group feel better always bothered me. Which on other sites and discussions based around this, is something I see all too often, as it often treads beyond just the girls in the picture and the discussions start getting insulting towards any girls who aren't overweight, as if being thin is a terrible thing. THAT is what gets me. It's just a frustration I've been wanting to get off my chest for awhile now.

However as I hinted before, I do agree with others that I dislike Victoria Secret's approach with those ads and such, and the message it puts across. I wish they'd do something more along the lines of the pic YayFluttershy posted above.
