Well Zach dodged the Close Combat, so his defenses haven't lowered yet. 

I just did the calculations on that Razor Shell that Zach threw and it does a pretty sizable amount of damage.

HP  157

Atk = 127

Def = 127

SpAtk = 117

SpDef = 117

Spd = 102

 

I used a stat calculator and clicked buttons, that's how I got them...
