Okay then. The answer I have to that is this. It's one of those hydro pump electrical plant thingies. An inspection is happening and someone didn't do maintenance right. So. Some water leaked through a crack, electricity arced along it towards some very expensive consoles causing a chain of explosions to happen.

I know I'm being a stickler here, but are the consoles made of explodium? Having a hydro-electric plant have a disaster is fine, it's a good place to have one, have the damn break and cause a flood, but an explosion, unless caused by outside forces, is very unlikely to happen, due to the fire-retardant nature of water in general and the fact that computers wouldn't explode when exposed to electrified water. Worst-case-scenario, they short out and are damaged beyond repair. Sure, it could kill people, but not by explosion. Moreso by electrocution.

Yeah, what would be the cause for the explosion? I can understand trying to make the RP more actiony and entertaining, but in reminder...this is an Academy RolePlay. If there were going to be any big events happening then it would most certainly be school related since that's what I imagine what people signed up for to participate in the RP in the first place. A huge disaster happening? Might be a bit overboard since it wouldn't JUST affect the whole school but places nearby and maybe miles around. 

 

If it was something more natural like a storm or hurricane, then it would be understandable as natural events happen in the world around us. But if theres some big overall plot where it's a crazy team or organization behind the scenes pulling at the strings? then this isn't the right roleplay for said events.

 

Then again we can't have something over damaging like buildings exploding or the school crumbling down due to earthquakes. That would change the setting overall, and if there WERE any disasters, then the student's safety would come into consideration and probably have them either sent away home or otherwise.

 

I'm sorry it has to be kind of tamed like that, but it's to keep the context of the RP on track and true to it's title and original premise.

If you're still wanting a Disaster then the best I can offer is a natural one. Now if something was to happen at the powerplant like some sort of brief failure that'll take a while to fix, then it would affect happenings at the school such as No Lights or no use of technology at the school. That would make an interesting day/weekend at the school as students would have to find ways to cope without an energy powered school.

 

Sorry again;;  I just think explosions might be Michael Baying things. It'd be more realistic if it was just power failures, then again...this is a pokemon world we're talking about...realistic isn't a good word for this.

Hell, you wouldn't even need to change your original idea at that point, just remove the explosions, and you'd be set, because the leak could cause the power to go out by frying the computer equipment to maintain the electricity.

Haha YES! Power failure is a go. Like I said before, the power failure will happen sometime around lunch but it will only affect the school. Sound good?

I'm all up for the Power Failure Idea! We can use the power failure as an incentive for the group of students away from the school to go back. Have it affect the buildings around it so they know something is up and have them go back to the school.

 

I am strangely hoping for ScoobyDoo-esque shenanigans to take place at a Dark school with no lights at night setting.
