Fatal Frame series... my mom played those games when I was younger and they scared the living hell out of me. She also played Clock Tower 3 which I remember but not fondly. I saw a lot of those horror games when I was little and ehh never been a big fan of the genre myself. But Bioshock was one of my all time favorite games in the genre. Not only was it really fun and unique. It had tons of scary moments as well.

My favourite is probably Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Yeah I know, that's about as original of an answer as saying Ocarina of Time is the best game of all time.

Not only was Amnesia a terrifying experience, but you can tell that there was a lot of passion behind it. (Especially after listening to the developer commentary.) What many horror games try to do is make the game as stressful as possible, but it usually ends up making the game a chore to play. With Amnesia, they managed to have fun gameplay as well as invoke the most tension I've had in a horror game.

Another one of my favourite games is is F.E.A.R. While it may not be nearly as scary as Amnesia or Silent Hill, I still like the idea of an action FPS with horror in it. It also helps that the firefights are pretty fun. However, if it didn't have the horror elements, it probably wouldn't be very memorable.

I wish I could play Silent Hill 2, but I won't be able to play it until the day Konami decides to properly re-release it for a warm fuzzy.

I hate horror games, they stress me out, I play games to have fun not be stressed out. I can't say that I really have a favorite because I hate pretty much all of them.

Jurassic Park for SNES; the indoor, first-person segments.  What's that noise that sounds vaguely like a bag of quarters being dropped onto a beanbag chair?!?!?  Spin around quick!  It's a friggin' 2D, pixelated Dilophosaurus spitting on you!  That scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

Manhunt 2 is a fantastic horror game.  Great story, great gameplay and it is set in the Grand Theft Auto 3D universe.  I look forward to a Manhunt 3.

Manhunt, huh?

I remember the first Manhunt being quite good - never played the second. I heard it got censored for good, lol.  :P

I haven't played the first Manhunt yet but I'll see if I can get a copy.  The second Manhunt is only censored on consoles, the PC version is uncensored.

Now I know what you're thinking.

"This isn't a horror game."

Really?

Because don't you remember the time when you had to go into Ravenholm?

You know.

That bloody, zombie infested, ghost town.

At night.

With nothing but your shotgun and crowbar to protect you.

And the fast zombies...

Scary as shit.

I think the only real horror game I've played is the first FNAF game, but out of all the ones I've seen others play, it's probably Indigo Park. I mean who doesn't love this adorable little fella?

Not much of a horror fan, but I really liked I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream.

Very eerie point & click game with some pretty clever but difficult puzzles. Characters and their backstories are solid and genuinely unnerving. Also, the mere idea of AM would've probably given me nightmares as a kid.

The book it's based off is also pretty good! Would recommend!

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.
