Help with naming OC/opinions

Gender:   Gelding
Species:   Unicorn
Cutie Mark:   Blue shield with two crossed silver swords. Something like this. Sorry about the crap quality. I threw it together in, like, two seconds.

Personality:   Upbeat, doesn't take things too seriously, likes to joke around, kind and caring
Backstory:  

This colt got his cutie mark fairly quickly. Early on, he knew that he wanted to be a member of the royal guard. It had been his dream for as long as he could remember. 

 

One summer, his parents had business to attend to in Canterlot and they couldn't bring him with them. They were unable to find anyone to look after him for the considerable period of time they'd be gone. Desperate for a sitter, his father left him with his estranged brother (OC's uncle.)
 
When OC got home, he was withdrawn and not his usual happy self. When his father gave him a bath that evening, he discovered that his son had been gelded. The extent of any other abuse is unknown as OC has repressed these memories, but his parents were heartbroken over what had happened to him.
 
This didn't really start to affect him until his yearling years. He noticed that he was falling behind in physical activity compared to the other colts his age. As he got a little older, he realized that he couldn't be a member of the royal guard unless he could hold his own against the others. So he began training for hours every day. He was determined to be stronger than all the other colts his age.
 
Finally, when he became an adult, he was able to compete to enter the training academy for the royal guard. He excelled at the physical fitness portion of the entrance exam as well as the written test. He would have been a shoo-in for the academy. However, upon his physical exam, the doctors realized that he was a gelding, which they deemed as less than top physical condition. As such, OC was not permitted to enter the training academy for the royal guard.
 
He now travels around all of Equestria looking for anyone who will hire him for a guardspony.

 
Originally, I named him Mid Knight, partly due to his coloring. However, after I gave him the gelding backstory, the "mid" part seemed more like a jab at him. Also, I was concerned with what to call him for short. "Mid" on its own sounds weird. So, any ideas on a name? Something that alludes to guardianship or knightship would be preferable.
 
Also, I'd appreciate any opinions about this OC. I'm unsure if the content is too heavy or racy for MLP.

Well now, a fan of having a gelded pony do we~? *giggles* I always liked it a lot, it was very... Interesting.

 

Anyways, I thought of the name Double Edge like the pokemon move. Heck, I get most of my names from different items and such, but this is just my opinion.

 

Oh and one last thing! Zeta's soon gonna join this guy in the region he's in. Only difference was, he was already in the Equestrian Army, and now is seven out of seven. But anyways, hugs for a new member? :3 (( Totally going overboard here ))

Hm, @Flash Fire got me back onto thinking mignight-something, and I started rethinking a bit. This character is supposed to be a sort of counterpart to Clover Heart. I came up with the name Midknight Courage. Heart, courage, so they're kinda parallel. Also, Midknight (spelled as such) and Clover both have to do with some destiny that they're unable to fulfill. So I feel like the names are sorta parallel. Any opinions on the name? Does putting the "K" in Midknight pose the same problem I was trying to avoid, or does it just make it punny? My problem with the previous name (Mid Knight) had a lot to do with the separation, I think, and there woulda been a pause in the name. Midknight is pronounced the same as midnight. It's just spelled different to allude to knightship. So, thoughts?

 

I also had the idea to name him Valliant-something, but I couldn't come up with anything.

Hm, I guess I should make my closing comment before this topic becomes too obsolete. I think I've decided upon Midknight Courage. It counterpoints Clover Heart's name well and had the knightly connotation I wanted.

 

I'm sorry for not going with anyone's suggestion, but your suggestions helped guide me in this direction. I just had to think things through a little more, and your suggestions pushed me to do that. Though I didn't pick anyone's name, your suggestions were very helpful. So thanks, everyone!

It's no problem Clover, and the name sounds quite fitting for this little being~

 

Other then that, I do like him a lot. Zeta might wanna try and see what he can do about this guy, since he's technically in Celestia and Luna's personal group. After all.. *nudge nudge* He can get Midnight into the Royal Guard, make him useful~
