Bronies in the Games Industry

Heya everypony,

 

I noticed a short while ago how many of us seem to work in the (computer) games industry – not a week goes by in which I don't learn about one or two others who do. In fact, in the company I work at there are two other bronies I know of.

 

So that got me thinking… wouldn't it be great to have some at least loosely knit network of brony game devs/etc.?

 

 

For example, my other brony buddy and me talked with a few guys at work about participating in a Ludum Dare or one of the other contests a short while ago – but how much fun would it be to bring together a brony team for one of those?

Or just to announce when your employer has open positions/ask "the network" if somebody's looking for work. Stuff like that.

 

 

For this group I'd specifically look for people professionally working in the industry or at least spending a lot of free time working in game development, and not anyone just interested in creating games. People already knowing the ropes, so to speak – be it in programming, organisation, arts & design, etc.

 

 

What are your thoughts about that? Other people here interested? (I know we won't reach just everybody here, but if it took off, it could be a place to point other people to, etc.)

 

How would you like a group like this to be organised? Mailing list? Create our own little separate forum for stuff that shouldn't be discussed in public?

 

 

As for me, I'm living in southern Germany and working as a DevOps engineer at a games middleware provider. I won't post the company name here (don't want this to be google-able), but of course I'll answer to private messages if you have questions

I am thinking about going into the industry, I do develop my own tabletop games right now (if that counts). In fact I'm currently working on a... well... one that would be diffictul to explain. It's a wargame that works... uniquely.
