There are some stories that seem to never want to end.

 

A story that should have been seen to its finale, ended by its weary creator. Many stories spanning many worlds, many universes. They have seen many of these stories, since the inception of Harmony itself. The great ever-watching eyes of the Essences of Heart, the three great alicorns who preside over the world of Valgaia. 

 

Though their wisdom was quite great, their love for their world strong, and their courage mighty, there were things that were beyond even their all-powerful abilities. These things laid within other universes, far beyond that of the universe of ponies that Valgaia inhabited. They laid within the intertwining fabrics of the Omniverse, the container of all universes in existence. Countless billions of universes and worlds out there, unknown to ponykind...

 

Until now.

 

It wasn't supposed to happen. Only a select few ponies were supposed to ascend into alicornhood, but she broke the system. There was a reason they were the three Essences of Heart; because there were only supposed to be exactly that: three.

 

It would all begin at the behest of an enraged pegasus. She used the forbidden powers to rise to the top. Powers that were sealed to all of ponykind, for fear that they would lead to the madness that had once consumed them all. But she didn't care. She embraced the powers of Chaos, and made her ascension as Queen Tempest. The new alicorn soon began what would be a very long reign of terror, and one that would be impossible for the Essences themselves to fight.

 

They summoned the Protectors of Valgaia to the fray, those who gave them much of their great power: the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony. But they were soon driven to madness and eventually killed by the ensuing storm left in Tempest's wake. The Essences responded by appointing new Bearers, who sadly also suffered the same fate...

 

And so this continued on for countless years; the Essences and their constantly changing roster of Bearers of the Elements of Harmony barely fending off their beautiful world from the clutches of Queen Tempest. Many lives were lost in the battle against this evil witch, and it seemed clear that there was nopony powerful enough to stand up to her. Nopony at all...

 

It was from this that the three alicorns had to take desperate measures. They had heard before of what laid beyond this universe, but had never dared venture beyond its walls. It was risky and they weren't even sure if they were powerful enough. But by Heart, they had to try. They pooled their powers together, and it was just enough to reach another world... any world, they didn't care, as long as there were those who could help them.

 

That very day, their beacon shone brightly on the planet Earth, a planet in some distant universe inhabited by strange apelike creatures known as humans. Glowing cracks manifested in all parts and even times of this world. Most of the humans were repelled by the magical energy, but a select few were drawn to it... somehow feeling their call for help.

 

Several glowing cracks opened all across the planet of Earth, near the homes of the humans that had resided there. Repelled by the negative energy, most of the humans had stayed in their homes. Yet there were some who were attracted by this energy... and ventured into the cracks...

 

These humans traveled across the Omniverse, through space and time, and past the barrier successfully. Crossing the barrier caused unexpected and erratic results. Unable to handle the introduction of a non-existing sentient species, the humans were converted into the primary sentient species of the world, ponies, and had forgotten their names. Still harboring mostly intact memories of their pasts, they awaken on the outskirts of the Everfree Forest.

 

And so, this is where our story starts. Won't you join us?

Welcome to Shifted: The Three Essences of Heart! This is the third incarnation of an old roleplay, Shifted. Which died twice due to various circumstances. Third time's the charm, right? 

 

The basic premise is that you are a human who has been sucked into this previously described crack, and transformed into a pony. We will first begin with the former humans merely trying to figure out their pony abilities, very simply. However, as time goes on, they will become increasingly enraveled in the complex story involving the Essences of Heart, Tempest, and the bearers Elements of Harmony.

 

This RP is going to be different from other RPs here, as it will take place in Valgaia, a world with generally the same rules and locations as Equestria, but populated by different characters. In this world, Celestia and Luna don't exist, and it is the Essences of Heart who oversee it. As well, no other canon characters exist. This includes Twilight Sparkle, and all of the Mane Six, the Cutie Mark Crusaders, Cadance, Shining Armor, etc. It is populated exclusively by OCs.

 

I am looking for a batch of decent RPers on the forums who can hold their own and who are dedicated to keeping this alive. I will do everything in my power to ensure that it doesn't die this time around, and I hope you do the same. You may not be accepted if you do not meet the requirements. But if you are a good to decent writer, you should be all right.

 

Note: The reason I'm not making this an Advanced RP is because I believe the character limit is too long. You don't need to be forced into 800 characters to make a well-written post. I'll go more into detail on that in the General Guidelines.

 

Before you can join though, there are some guidelines that you are expected to follow. I'd like to tell you NOT to be intimidated just because there are a lot of them. They're very simple basic things that aren't all that difficult to remember or understand, provided you read them and know what you're doing. These guidelines are to ensure that we have a quality roleplay here which we can all enjoy.

General Guidelines

• Basics first: No godmodding (controlling other people's characters), Mary Sues (uninteresting perfect characters), etc. For more information on these basic no-nos, read my Enhanced General Guide to Roleplaying over here which is basically the same as A General Guide to Roleplaying, except not all screwed up and deleted and with more detail.
   
• This is in the blog guide I wrote already, but I thought I'd put it here to emphasize it: please make posts with as much proper grammar/spelling as you can muster.  A few errors here and there are fine and understandable. But if it is consistent, I'll have to put my foot down.
   
• Try to make decent quality, detailed, and descriptive posts. This is an RP for roleplayers with decent to great writing ability. This doesn't necessarily mean that your posts have to be a huge wall of text or a novel, however.
   
• Speaking of length, there is a requirement. Each post has to be at least five sentences long minimum. This is a paragraph. Feel more than free to make them longer if you wish, but try not to write huge walls of texts and massive novels. This is a roleplay, not a book. (Anything past 12 paragraphs is kind of pushing it)
   
• You remember when I say I'm looking for roleplayers who can keep this alive? Well, that's where an activity check comes in. If you have not posted in this roleplay in two weeks, I will remove you and open up your spot to new roleplayers. Please remain as active as possible.
   
• Activity, however, doesn't mean moving at the speed of light. In order to keep the pace steady, you must wait until two people have posted before you prior to making another post in the thread. If, however, it has been at least one day and only one person has posted before you, you may post again. This rule may be changed or removed depending on activity. 
   
• I'll take this opportunity to let you know that I'm pretty lenient about which direction the story is moved in. Just because I have a plan, doesn't mean it has to be followed down to the letter. The fun of roleplaying is seeing how characters react to things. So feel free to take it as far as you like. provided you don't kill what is supposed to be an all-powerful villain in one shot.

Character Guidelines

• Klopp (my co-GM) and myself will be carefully overlooking and approving every character form that is posted. Just because you post it, does not mean you are automatically accepted. If you are accepted, either of us will quote your post and say Accepted. Until then, you are NOT accepted into the RP and cannot post until we say so. If you are not accepted, either of us will quote your post and explain what you need to change to become accepted.
   
• Please include in your character's backstory their life as a human and how they came to encounter the crack.
   
• Don't make your character already have known about My Little Pony before coming to Valgaia. In the Omniverse's incarnation of Earth, the television program of MLP does not exist.
   
• Please do not introduce any canon characters into the RP. OCs only. 
   
• Related to this: you may use an existing pony character for this if you'd like. You don't have to make up a new human-turned-pony exclusively for Shifted. Just edit in the above information into your Database entry with an obvious "FOR SHIFTED" section.
   
• This is personal preference (and also because I plan on doing Shifted-related art later), but your character's color scheme and overall design must be at least vaguely fateful to the show design with no excessive markings. I won't accept, for instance, a polkadot unicorn with a metallic horn.
   
• Your character can only be an earth pony, pegasus, or unicorn. Alicorns are strictly prohibited.
   
• Your character retain most of their memories from their old human life, except they cannot remember their old human name. This is basically because a pony with a human name seems silly. But there will probably be some deeper reason revealed for it later. They'll have to create their own ponyesque alias to blend in.
   
• There are eleven spots in Shifted. In these spots, there must be at least two unicorns, two pegasi, and two earth ponies, making for a total of six. The other five spots can be any other miscellaneous races.

Do I have to use a character I have already made and give them a past in the human world, and also make their existing life redundant? Or can I create a character specifically for this roleplay?

So, the link to fire sharp, of course shifted and here as what has happened in her human life.

 

 

 

She entered the academy at age 18, before hand taking part in several shooting comps. The reason behind her overall sharpness shooting and it becoming her talent, as well as training her eye sight to be better than the common man. 

Many of the rest of the story can be easily relatable to the human world, and missions and the like could happen in Iraq or Korea, and human relations of course as well as human behaviour can easily be applied to situations happening in the same effect/order.

You're mostly good here. I particularly like how your pony already seems particularly fitting for the human world. And a very unique role could be had in the RP as well, what with all the combat experience.

 

it's just one thing. In your backstory, you have to put how she came to discover the crack that took her to the human world. Also, if you could put it maybe in Other on your profile as well for easier reference, as it might get lost in this thread when it gets more posts and be more difficult to find.

I just assumed that if people went back in time, then the cracks would appear in those times. But like I said, just let me know and I'll change his back story as soon as possible.

I'd like to join this roleplay. I was in the first one and I was seeing sights of the 2nd, so I think I could try fitting into this a 3rd time. If anything, I'll put in Brave Heart, but I need to find his sheet somewhere on the site. I might have to make some edits as well if necessary. I can't search for it right now as I'm on my phone and it's almost 4:30 AM, but I'm willing to join in!
