Well... It's hard enough for my parents to believe that watching ponies DOESN'T affect my sexual orientation; and it's nearly impossible for them to even consider me purchasing (or having other people purchase for me) the merchandise for the show. So my only option is to hit the shops after school (possibly with my baby sister if people get suspicious...I'm not too open with brony-ism yet.) I want to get some of the blind bags--hoping for Rarity or Rainbow Dash (and when they're out) Lyra Heartstrings and Big Macintosh.

 

Getting to the shop and locating the toys are the easy parts. My problem is my own skepticism if they are really worth it. They are just plastic figurines, and despite their epicness, shouldn't be more than a few bucks each blind bag. Because when it comes down to it, they are plastic and paint. Although, from what I've seen of them, the toys seem pretty durable (unlike previous generations of MLP toys.) But I know as well as you that anything based of any show gets it's price applejacked up to heights unbearable.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem; I could normally just Google the toys and find the price in any of my local stores.

However, no matter how I rephrase "My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Blind Bags Price" (removing/adding words, abbreviating mlpfiim, changing phrases, etc.) I still can't find the price! Sure I get the review videos and tutorial videos on finding the one you want... BUT I CAN'T FIND THE PRICE!

I make burnt offerings to Google, I want my results!

 

If any of you have gotten the blind bags, how much are they? And do you think the prices given are fair?

I kinda figured they'd be somewhere around there. It's not as if they'd charge as much as the gift set of (four?) figurines for ONE. And considering you don't know what's inside, it's not going to be worth spending over $14for most likely a background pony that isn't even in the show.

My parents are easing up a bit. It is a Saturday morning cartoon after all. And now that they see alot of my friends are watching it, and glimpses they catch of it every now and again...

 

Sorry I haven't obtained a level of mastery in Brony-ness as you have. I'm sure I'll "level-up" in time. But for now I'm still dreamin', I'm still waitin', to be with those great ponies.

I've bought them individually on eBay from both the US and Germany and I bought the collection set from Toys R Us.

Prices for individual blind bags on eBay can vary widely from $2 to $10+ USD. I don't know where you live but here in the US you can't buy them individually from brick and mortar stores (yet) so your only option would be to get either the 4 pack or TRU collection set. I'm not sure about the 4 pack but the collection set costs $22.49 USD which equals out to about $1.87 each.

 

If you live in the US and want to get the mane six I would suggest getting the collection set because it's the only way to get Applejack and Fluttershy (except the puzzle/house thing) and they come with cards, plus if you want to do some customizing in the future (as I plan to do) the other ponies make great victims.

As for the "excuse" if you get caught: Little Sisters. You can also use them as an "excuse" for trick-or-treating (I didn't use her this year... but I may have to next year... My neighborhoods really frown on 16 year olds getting free candy for some reason).

No offense, but I'd rather live my life by have people think positively of me.

 

Sure being 20% cooler than everyone else would be awesome. But at the price of being frowned upon by everyone you once knew?

 

I'd settle for being only 10% cooler, and only tell my closest friends, the ones I could trust not to make fun of me. What kind of a friend would make fun of another for watching the best show ever? One that would now be dead. And frankly... I don't like killing people over trivial stuff such as this. I'd need a good defense for the court... Stupid Shawn Spencer... he catches everything.

And did you ever think admiting to something that other people would not would give you respect because you could give two shits what people think about you. When I became a brony I was basically living by "NOONE MUST KNOW MY SECRET!" but as time went on I became more and more open about it and now almost everyone I know knows about it, and you know what? They don't care. I haven't yet been made fun of or ridiculed in any way for liking ponies. You have to step out little by little from your comfort zone. Test people's reactions. I think you'll find that people are more accepting than you think.

 

As far as buying ponies in public. It will be tough the first time but it's exactly the same as above. Once you buy your first bit of pony merch you'll see that it isn't as bad as you thought. As far as anyone knows you could be buying it for your sister. Basically, it's none of their business and they usually don't care. It's really just a state of mind.

But the problem for me specifically and maybe some other bronies is that I can't easily just disregard what my mom and dad has to say. I'd be happy to sing from the rooftops the themesong so such a marvelous work, dressed up as none other than Rarity herself. But in no way can or will my life benefit from doing such. For in my community, we must blend in with the rest of society. When one steps out of line in society, society steps on them. People are not as loving and tolerable here, despite what people say. I respect your opinions, and completely encourage you and all your friends happiness and love in all your pony-based pleasures. As for me, I prefer my crappy life over the life I would get. Just to better understand you, what/who are you refferring to as "community". Family, friends, religion, etc.? ____________ Living your life to best fit and be accepted by others is not what you want to do because in the end it is your life and you have the god given right to live it out as you please. While I don't agree completely on what Finest is saying, the base of his words serves a point. You're not going to enjoy your life keeping secrets and missing out. In the worst case your parents may frown upon you for a short time, but who knows, maybe if they frown upon you they will actually research it and discover how absurd it is to judge someone over what is seriously a morning cartoon. And if it disrupts their sleep at night then it's their problem for jumping to conclusions. You shouldn't need to feel awkward around your parents and ruin your life over such a small thing. People are monsters. They are the only monsters I did and ever will believe in. Some people out there are genuine, but apparently I'm having a difficult time finding any. I plan on finding someone one day that will accept everyone as they are. There are many people here, on this forum, like this. They are real, and accepting of everyone. This whole forum was built on love and tolerance. But I cannot physically see them. I cannot physically go to their house and borrow a cup of sugar.

And my apologies to you and Viscra for an incorrect assumption. For being in my place is just awful and I'd feel terrible if anypony else was here.
