Do any of you get..... depression easy?

Oh, you bet I get depressed easily. I do have reasons. Whenever I stop being depressed about one thing, I start being depressed about another. The reasons are always ridiculous.

The reason at the moment is that I am currently in a RP about ponies getting shrunk and their journey across the giant land to return to normal.

For some reason, the shrinking is making me sad. Perhaps because of how vulnerable they must be, and how easily their lives could end at any moment. I guess I feel bad for the characters.

I compare it to how I felt when I watched 'Magic Duel' for the first time. I felt bad for Pinkie when her mouth was taken away for the entire episode. Was that supposed to be funny, writers? Because I for one am not laughing. (I was unhealthily attached to the show and its characters in my first few weeks of bronyhood)

Anyway, back to the RP - don't get me wrong, the plot can make for some awesome scenarios. We went under a moving train at one point! But I still feel a sense of blues...

It's pathetic, really.

I sometimes wonder if I have some sort of disorder that makes me depressed easily, or if it's related to my autism.

I'm suffering from mood swings and minor sleep deprivation. Oh joy is me indeed...

Oh sweet, I'm not the only guy with autism here!

Also, I forgot to mention how I'm anxious 90% of the time about something - usually sleeping.

Very much yes. It's mostly at night, I get incredibly depressed for some reason. I'm hoping night classes next month will distract me from this. Also tomorrow I start going to therapy. I really hope I can get over this, and you too. It's awful.  :(

The way I see it, if you don't know why you're depressed than it's just as easy to be not-depressed. You're only doing yourself a disservice by continuing down the depression path for no reason. Even if you have to put a funny hat on and run around the house naked you be sure to cheer yourself up.

Thank god I have a fairly even temperament. I don't get many emotions one way or the other most days. Life would suck if you were constantly in a bad mood just to be in a bad mood.

I get depressions so many times a day it's not even funny. There are moments when I completely feel out of place in a crowd when I suddenly get a depression, I'm not talking about a normal depression though but my whole body stops functioning and I just end up staring into pure nothingness thinking about stuff that gets me depressed. When I'm at home however, I can simply listen to music which sort of "cures" that depression symptoms but the depression remains.

So to come back at the question: Yes, I get depressions quite often and very easily, sometimes without a reason.

Yes I do, I'm unhappy with my current life with my family, I want to graduate and leave, but I also want to leave this stupid country, most people are jerks at least, and murderous criminals are as common as Goombas in Mario Bros. Problem is, when I graduate, will there be enough money to make me leave? because economy is shit and dollars are scarce, and every day, everything gets worse and more hopeless

I have to fight depression daily. No amount of medication helped when I was younger. I have PTSD; I have seen and been through some sh**. I have to live with the consequences of other peoples' actions for the rest of my life, and that alone is depressing, even though what happened was not my fault. It's actually very hard to find happiness, so I focus on my love for my husband. He is what gives me hope and reasoning in life.

its kinda funny, but if you would know what causes (most of) my depressions its quite understandable.

Depression can be very minor and very deep, too. It obviously differs. I don't claim to understand what most people here go through, but i just wanted to point out that you owe it to yourself to remember that depression is an abstract, and even when things seem bad, dwelling on it too long will prevent you from seeing improvement. I sincerely hope everyone here have a better day tomorrow.

I'd like to know you're whole situation here. What's bringing on this depression, and what could be done to help? I'd like to hear your full story before I offer any advice.

  • 2 weeks later...

There's lots of things that upset me. Considering I over analyze a situation and expect the worst scenario often, I will get sad easily until I realize it's just my mind overthinking. Getting jealous unfortunately gets me upset as well (and sometimes over very minor things (when things seem unfair :/)). That includes not succeeding. And I also get upset when a good friend is depressed about something, and it doesn't help that I can't really do much about it often (like when texting... I can't always say the right things and I can't hug through phones like I would IRL).
