Pony Wood Etching

Hello all, I think I made this post in the wrong area, still very new to this site but here it is again.

 

My wife and I have just recently started looking into MLP and we wanted to do a bit of art with these wonderful creatures. I started learning wood etching recently and wanted to try my hand at etching a pony so the first one I did was Pinky Pie, my brother's fav, and this is how it turned out:

 

After doing that one I wanted to do another one to see if I can do any better. This is the top half of the door plaque (I haven't finished the bottom part yet). I etched it and my wife painted it:

 

What do you guy's think of them so far? These were my first two etching that I have done so far.

I have thought about doing commissions but I wanted to see if these were good enough for the pony world first. These were pretty hard but fun to do.

 

I think I can do a Dashie and see how it turns out. I won't be able to work on anything till next week because we have an art show to go to this weekend.

Have you tried wood burning?... It's essentially the same thing, except your using a soldering iron instead of carving it.

I have thought about wood burning. I am wanting to try that once I get the hang of etching. Eventually I would like to incorporate the two together.

We could make one for you if you wanted. Although, I think it would have to be through the commission forums? They are about the size of a sheet of paper so roughly 8x11. If you are interested in one let me know and I'll try starting a commission thread for these.
