I need some premises for my fanfic

So, I have a really cool idea for a fanfic. What if MLP was retooled to become a show aimed for teenagers (no, it won't be a drama set in high-school, because that's generic)? I have already settled onto a genre and a basic "structure" for the fanfic. Of course, it will have elements of a scriptfic but it won't actually be a scriptfic. There's still going to be prose. I also have to note its inspired by Calvin and Hobbes: The Series (yeah, I know its old but that's where I got the idea from). So, here's the structure:

-Will have humans (there will either be 1 to 3 human protagonists)

-It is live action/animated, so what that basically means is if the human protagonist(s) is in Equestria, they would still be live-action with an outline surrounding their bodies. If the Mane Six is in the real world, they won't change and instead stick out like a sore thumb.

-Dark and edgier (but there will be no sex).

-Will still have the Mane Six as main characters

-Each chapter will be called "episodes". Fics will be called "seasons".

-Some fics will become meta, like maybe a fic that revolves around a fan of the "show"

-My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will exist as a show within a show.

-No, there is no such excuse as "they will cut you up". I am trying to plan a scene where the ponies are revealed to the public in the real world.

-Humans will go to Equestria, and ponies will go to the real world.

-Will be either TV-PG or TV-14 (I will not go up to TV-MA).

Also the genre is adventure and action.

Now, here's the "tropes" that I have a dilemma with:

-Should the human protagonists be teenagers or adults?

-Should Mane Six have ages?

-Should there be interspecies romance between a human and a pony? (but there will be no sex shown nor off-screen). (Mostly, "fans" of the "show" would write fanfics and draw fanart of it anyway, so it has been crossed out).

Questions:

-Should there be a feature film for the series? (no, its not going to be like My Little Pony: Equestria Girls but think of it as a film that supports canon).

I will add more as I try to think up of more questions.

Anyway, I'm not trying to go for purple prose, but I am going to attempt to describe scenes. I have made up a premise but I'm not sure if its good.

I hope my idea is good though.

Personally, I feel like the protagonists should be teenagers. I haven't seen that more than once, actually, so...that'd be a good change.
As for interspecies, I am personally not a fan of it for its own sake. Does it make sense in the context? If so, go for it. If it's just for shock value though, it's best not to include it.

And don't think describing is purple prose! There's actually a VERY thin line that I (used to) love to walk on, and if you can tread that fine, then your story will be LOADS better. Just make sure not to use Lavender Unicorn Syndrome, or spend 2 hours describing one chair that holds no importance.

Hello! 16 year old pony music arranger extraordinaire! I arrange for a whole bunch of big ensembles. I also play Clarinet.

I'm an ex-writer, but still willing to pitch ideas and advice.
Have a music request, or want advice ? PM me! I'm always open. (Just note I specialize in music involving note names and dynamics, or chords, such as orchestral or to an extent, any tonical music. If you know note names, we'll be fine.)

Anyway, I also need some premises. Do you have a premise in mind? Just curious. :)

Ah, I'm afraid I don't. I was never a fan of - or an expert on - the HiE genre. But, if you tell me any you might come up with, I'll give you my honest opinion as an editor!

Here's a premise that I worked on:

1. 100 shards of a huge gem have been scattered over five universes (two of them will be my own creation, one is Equestria, one is the real world and one is TCB universe). The Mane Six has been ordered to find the twenty shards in their world. However, two teenagers, who question their chosen status have also took up the quest to find their twenty shards in their world as well. They are unaware of each other until the 40 shards are collected. However, a cult is also bent on searching these 100 shards. Can they return the gem to its rightful owner?

Hmmm, a few questions before I give my opinion.

1. Real world? Like...Earth?

2. Ordered? By whom, and for what purpose? What do the gems even do? And how in the world do they plan on figuring out who owns it, or even GETTING them across UNIVERSES?

3. TCB? What's that? I think you mean The Collection Bureau, I know of the universe but never read any of the stories.

1. Yes, real world is Earth. And yes, I have skipped on a few details.

2. Ordered by Princess Celestia. Hmm, well, first of all, a organization who is looking for the gems is trying to get it, and they have built a portal. The heroes will try to sneak into their HQ and get to the rest of the universes to get the gem. And, its owner? That's one of the problems they have to solve as well.

3. Yes, the Conversion Bureau. And, I can imagine how it will turn out for the Mane Six to meet their TCB counterparts.

I'm still confused though. Why exactly are these gems so bad? And I realize Celestia can raise the sun, but isn't travelling universes a bit advanced for ponies? Granted, they have airports, but...still.

I do however thank you for making me clarify the details. No, it isn't sarcasm. It isn't really.

Well, the reason why the gems is so "bad" (do realize that I thought up the premise on the spot, so details are still spotty) is the fact that they grant the re-assembler whatever they want, it can change worlds but cannot destroy worlds. So, the villain organization is a bunch of former Soviet KGBs that want to take over the world and force all nations to be communist. (Yeah, its a bit cheesy).

Also, I do like to keep in mind that Princess Celestia does not know about the other shards in the other four universes. She's basically left into the dark. She only knows that twenty shards have appeared in the universe, and she wants to get the twenty shards in order to reassemble it. Also, what I think will happen is when 40 shards are collected by the eight, the collected shards will bring the group together into the real world, and there, they have to get to the portal at the organization's headquarters.

Ah, I see. So it's more of a DBZ plot, then? Get all the pieces and you get a wish.

It can make sense, but in the case of 100 shards, either some of them gotta be in one place or you might wanna be ready for a LONG haul.

But yes, it sounds good by premise. If you can pull it off, it'll be something I'd read. Have fun planning the details! ^.^

Yeah, but I don't think its that "original". Sure, there may be a couple of subversions but I don't really like the idea of eight protagonists trying to reassemble a MacGuffin.

Which is why I tried to ask the forumers for more premises, so I can pick one up and added to the story (yes, the creator of the idea will be credited).

Well, just remember: no idea is 100% original. :)

I always try to push this premise just to see what happens, but i will try to adjust it to your premise:

Basically, one day, out of the blue, magic stops working for no reason. The sun and the moon stops, cutie marks vanish, no one knows what is happening and everyone is freaking out about it, even the demi gods (Personally i think discord would be espcially pissed about this). No magic at all, everyone blaming everyone and the world is crumbling. That's the premise i love the most, but now to your fic.

Alright, so a cristal is doing shit, okay, my idea:

The cristal is merging the (5?) universes into one, magic in equestria is nowhere to be seen (with results explained earlier) and as for the human world, MAGIC is starting to appear there and all sorts of crazy shit happens, like:

*Monsters appear.

*Humans with magic are a thing now, and most of them are dangerous. And they are very common as in 6 out of 10 people are wizzards.

*Cults start to actually summon things instead of being a fraud, it came as quite the shock when Cthulhu appear with a six pack of deep ones (Or something like that)

*Prayers to diferent gods are working with outstanding speed, almost inmediately (Even made up gods, as in praying to darth vader or something) It doesn't matter who you pray for, "something" is answering the prayers and is quite disturbing.

And more magical thingies that shouldn't exist in this world.

I don't know about the other 3 worlds :/

But basically, everybody its going nuts and it's only going to get worst from there.

If you like it, HAVE FUN!

PD: Also, 20 shards per world? You are going to write till the end of time, try 3 or even 5 shards, 100 is a nice number but is WAY to high.

Being that you're aiming the show to be attracting teenage audiences, you'll want your protagonists to be teenagers to make them actually relatable to your target audience.

The Mane Six I've always imagined as being teenaged as well.

A feature film could maybe work if your Season Finale leaves off on a cliffhanger or something that the Film is meant to resolve. Such as a big bad so important to deal with, that you can't cover it within one episode, or even a two parter. You need 2 hours at least to resolve it.

Ah thanks. Now, I'll start writing up more premises, but thanks for the advice. :)
