Is this still discussion? He likes it, let him like it.

Someone please block this thread.

You want this thread to be blocked because he gave an opinion where in turn, we gave our opinions? You hate G4. You gave your opinion. Why can't we give ours? Are you getting hurt because the majority of the people here don't think G4 sucks like you do? Who cares?

I'm not a fan of the art style in previous generations, and there was never any draw to get me into watching them. I'll likely give them a shot at some point, but my expectations are almost nill.

Hey I still like this community it's just I think we're beginning to have a bit too much influence on the show! Take my 9yr old niece as an example. She was just beginning to get into the show but when she suddenly found out about us bronies she suddenly lost interest.

^I don't understand how this logic works. I told my 5 year old niece who was watching strawberry shortcake to put on MLP, and she did, because she loves it, and knows I love it, too. Why would older fans make a young fan stop being a fan if she was really a fan? This logic... Blows. Buhdumtsh. You guys might not like that last little joke... But I'm a FAN. :derp::muffins:

I prefer my characters to be relatable, and not have flat personalities with zero depth and believeability whatsoever. I respect G1 for starting things, and actually having some dark themes, etc, but that's as far as my respect goes for it. G4 has leaps and bounds more on the character front than G1 ever even began to have in any of its' episodes or movies, end-o-story.

Why is this thread still up? It's pretty much 99% arguing and 1% actually civil discussion. The OP left a while ago, just leave it people, I mean come on,who cares?

After watching several episodes from G1 I've come to the realisation that G1 is better than FIM. Let me explain:

•G1 was handrawn. Badly yes, but that took effort. Anybody can use Flash nowadays.

•G1 had better villians. Terak for example. He was a proper badass.Plus he was actually killed. Something that would never happen in FIM

.FIM in my opinion takes itself too seriously. The makers of the G1 show knew that the core audience would be girls so didn't try too hard

.The Brony community itself. With the rise of Bronydom the FIM creators have seemed anxious to please our every whim.If they are not careful Hasbro will begin to turn their core audience away.

These are just my opinions tell me if you agree...or not!

Having watched G1, I like it quite a bit, as much if not more so than G1. But I disagree.

-Even if they do happen to use Flash, the characters they created are amazing in their own right. It's their character designs that actually got a lot of people to watch FIM; they convey so much emotion and depth of thought that they may as well be alive. I'm still amazed that Hasbro managed to stumble onto it.

-This is by a matter of degree. G1 villains are more intimidating on-screen, while FIM villains are goofy and dramatic. However, FIM villains become darker when you examine implications. Can you imagine what it would be like to suffer the ramifications of eternal night? Or to be at the mercy of a mad god whose goal in life is to break you emotionally?

-I find this to be insulting to G1, honestly. They had very mature themes to work over, and they treated their audience very respectfully. The characters are hard to keep track of, but they're amazingly intelligent, as well. I'm curious why you think this.

-Hasbro is beginning to accept us, but that's a far cry from pandering to us. They're willing to throw some things out(They made the comics for us, i'm sure), but I find it unlikely that they'll ever change their shows ideas for bronies.

Let's be clear. That's exactly FIM's purpose as well. Just to shift as much stock as possible. The problem is the creators have forgot that!

While that may be true, we have people on the team for the show. (The Writers, the animators, etc.) Who actually GIVE a damn about making a good cartoon.

I agree that the community can sometimes be too demanding and not treat the makers of the show with the respect they deserve, especially given their attempts to please us even though the show is not made for us, but I think that's to be expected from any fandom. And besides, that's more to do with the community than the show itself, and I personally believe FiM to be the better show strictly because its writing and characters are both likeable and relatable, being able to communicate messages to any audience without having to talk down to them. The animation in G1 may have taken more effort, but sometimes it's not down to how much time, money or work you put into something, it's how you coordinate and organise your work to look as good it can. FiM may use flash, but it has a very distinctive and appealing style that makes everything pop out, and it suits the show's tone, overall making it an incredibly beautiful show due to it's clever colour palette and presentation.

From writing, characters, narrative, morals, tone and style, I believe FiM to overall be the much more accessible and enjoyable show. I can understand why some people may prefer G1, and I do think that in perspective of the time it was created, G1 was actually a very well made show, but in comparison to it's later generations, I personally hold FiM to be the better show.

Hey-hey-hey-woah. No, I want it to be blocked because this thread is WAY too long for someone who just said that he likes G1 better than G4. I don't think G4 sucks, and you know that perfectly. I'm willing to accept anyone's opinion, but this thread has been up for too long. Specially since this was just an opinion that surprised people, as if "Why? G1 is terrible!"

I've been tired of this since the show started getting praised for nothing in 2010.

Friendship is Magic is awesome, there's really no arguement over it. It destroys all the previous versions.

Someone: okay, so how much of the previous generations have you seen?

me: well, uh *cough* might have seen a few pictures on the net. :P

"Anybody can use Flash nowadays"

I would like to see you completely stylize a species into a design that is both appealing to children and adults alike.

Basically start with this:

End with this:

So much about "hand-drawn" as an argument.

I don´t even know where the mindset of "its made with a computer, everyone can do that!" comes from.

There really isn´t much difference from drawing traditionally, it requires the same skill.(of course, you have stabilizers in flash, but those are just gonna make the process quicker, not easier.)

but ofc, if you are talking about how "easy" it is to animate in flash, let me tell you thats also false.

Else, there wouldnt be such a thing as professional animators.

Maybe i´m just ranting around here because i dislike every single generation of MLP except G4, oh well..

I won't go after your points because, as you said in your post, they're your opinions.  If you prefer G1 you prefer G1; doesn't even really require explanation.  What I don't understand is why you would turn your back on a show simply because you don't think it's as good as another show.  Can't you watch and enjoy both?  Why deliberately limit your entertainment options?  I'd get it if you openly disliked FIM, but it seems as though you simply don't enjoy it as much.

Okay I lied lol: I will go after one of your points.

FIM in my opinion takes itself too seriously. The makers of the G1 show knew that the core audience would be girls so didn't try too hard

I fail to see how a show that's about colorful talking equines who discover the magic of friendship together and randomly burst into song somehow "takes itself too seriously."  If you meant the creators / staff take it too seriously...  Isn't it a good thing when someone cares about what they're doing?  Isn't it sort of their job to deliver a product that is well-received?  And the second sentence seems to imply that putting forth less effort is preferable and results in a better television series lol.  "Ehhh it's just GIRLS we're makin' this show fer.  Let's not try."  *Show is automatically better.*  I don't follow. xD

To be clear: not dissing your preference for G1.  Not claiming superiority of one over the other.  Just questioning what got you there.

personally I think this topic presents unfound accusations on what is considered superior when superiority is utterly a subjective outlook when it comes any form of entertainment, even if the arguments may be flawed.

FiM would never kill somepony. Never!

*Hides Kind Sombra*

Never ever!

Well, outside of the symbolic confirmation of Applejack's parents being dead and a hyper CMC singing on someone's casket during a funeral, and the Golden Oaks library bees getting Tirwreckd . I agree
