I think Lyra is Equestrian Although, I can sorta picture her having an Irish accent for some reason... More of a Scottish one, actually... Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 February 21, 2014 Share February 21, 2014 Well, she of course can't be Irish because she's not from Ireland, but I actually do picture her as being an Irish-like pony a lot of times, kind of like how Applejack acts like a Southern American even though there is no America and her family is actually from all over the place. #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims

Frith is Magick 1,471 February 21, 2014 Share February 21, 2014 First of all, Lyra is green?! Am I the only one who thinks she is blue? Second of all, that image would imply that Bon Bon is Irish(ish). Thirdly, Lyra may be an Irish name, but pony names have more to do with the pony than the location. The name Lyra would have more to do with her cutie mark than her descent. Even if she isn't Irish, I wouldn't object to her having an Irish accent... Subscriber Denim&Venöm 20,471 February 21, 2014 Subscriber Share February 21, 2014 Could be. Sure, why not? That be quite the twist if it were canonized in the show. Perhaps for a St.Patrick's day special? Although if any creature should be from the Equestrian equivalent to Ireland, it would be Queen Chrysalis. She's a changeling and changelings are creatures from Irish myth.

Ireland must be the cesspool of Equestria if Chrysalis is from there... I mean, she had a lotta of Changelings with her, it would be sad if it turns out she had already taken over and wiped out most of Pony Ireland and that's why she was seeking nourishment in Equestria! #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims
SasQ 1,380 February 22, 2014 Share February 22, 2014 Plausible theory, considering how the coat of arms of Ireland looks like: As you can clearly see, it has a lyre in it. From what I see, the background colors vary from deep blue to green, so if one would take an average, it would probably give a blue-green-ish color of the Lyra's coat (cyan). Lyra is a pony, but she's also interested in humans. There are theories that she's actually a human who somehow get into Equestria, but took a form of a pony. So I don't see any obstacle to think that this human was actually from Ireland My best posts list Recent post: Language Exchange

Silver Letter 1,832 February 23, 2014 Share February 23, 2014 There is no such thing as Ireland in Equestria so no. Yeah, I am aware that Earth place names may have slipped through once or twice but they are just mistakes by the writers. It's like when Pinkie Pie spoke Spanish in Pinkie Pride. Since English and Spanish are not canon either, what was she even speaking? Who knows I guess. Silver Letter!!! SasQ 1,380 February 23, 2014 Share February 23, 2014 (edited) Pinkie Pie was singing Spanish, but this was not a writers' mistake at all. What she sung goes like this: "Dale, dale, dale, No pierdas el tino, Porque si lo pierdes, Pierdes el camino." which could be translated to English as: "Go on, go on, go on, Don't loose your goal, Because if you loose it, You'll lose your way." This is a traditional Piñata song, so it is very in-place there to be sung by Pinkie Pie, since she dances over a giant piñata (which later falls down on Rainbow Dash, making her unhappy). But there's more in this than meets the eye: The song tells you that if you loose your goal you're approaching, you will lose the whole way you follow at present, because it would be meaningless and waste of time, when leading to nowhere. This song actually reflects what Pinkie Pie have done herself. She have lost her goal (to make Rainbow Dash the greatest party ever to make her happy) getting herself involved too much into a competition with Cheese Sandwich, and because of that, she have lost her whole way. Just the moment later after singing that song, she has her moment of truth. I thought of it as a very nice move from the writers' part. True, there's no Spain in Equestria. But there's also no England or U.S., and the ponies speak English nevertheless :-P (unless this is dubbed for us by the voice actors from the original Equine speech ) Edited February 23, 2014 by SasQ My best posts list Recent post: Language Exchange

As far as nations go, they do have equivalents to Great Britain (Trottingham/Nottingham) and Saudi Arabia (Saddle Arabia).
