If Hasbro produced a new generation of MLP aimed at boys would you buy into it?

Although the merits of the argument are a topic for another thread, creating a "boy-oriented" MLP would rustle a lot of jimmies.  Heck, as things stand now, you already have people out there arguing that bronies have "stolen" and "corrupted" MLP - that's of course a discussion all its own.  If you took and made a "boy" version of the show, you'd most likely have people saying "Can't girls have something nice without boys taking it over?"

I probably wouldn't watch it. It would ruin the point of MLP for me...

I prefer having a break from all the violence and dirty jokes on tv, and having a new version of MLP for boys would pretty much make it just like everything else.

No offense to you, but that sounds horribly lame, and I wouldn't tag along.

 

Why can't we all just accept having a well-written and enjoyable show that is designed for girls? Guys have tons of shows for themselves, and tons of characters to relate to. MLP should stay the way it is, and does not need to branch out for "Bronies".

That said i think it would have the potential to be mystery science theater level bad, like ironically good.

I've seen the fan trailer rule 63 ponies.  Blitz, dusk shine, etc,etc.

 

IT was pretty funny hearing rainbow blitz go "Nerdddddddddddddddddddd!" at the end.  And Babs (aka female smike) push Dusk shine forward.

 

So if it was a male show we wouldn't have anymore songs?

Maybe if they just made it straight up quirky slapstick comedy w/ overtly destructive fantasy violence and some educational tidbits and pop culture references thrown in. Think Animaniacs & Freakazoid crossed with Ed, Edd n Eddy and Megas XLR

I'd much prefer them to just make a new generation of toys/figurines that ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE THE CHARACTERS.

It would depend entirely on how the show itself turned out, buuuut I have a feeling that anything created specifically for boys would likely end up being terrible.  I think the most that ever could/should be done is maybe have a couple episodes here and there focusing on some of the male cast members.  Big Mac episode, anyone?

 

... And now that I think of it, a Sea Breeze episode set in the breezies' world would kill this and at least one or two other birds with one stone.

Now, I'm not against shows that aim themselves primarily toward the male demographic, but the problem is, most of them try to appeal to the morons who still think fart jokes are funny and blatant innuendos are "edgy" and "cool". A male aimed My Little Pony couldd work, but there's no reason for it to be any different than the normal show itself. Not without sucking or being downright offensive, I mean.

 

Personally, I'll stick with My very mature Little Ponies, thank you.

It depend on how well written it is, If it's like full of gross-out humor and unreasonable fight scenes, maybe not.   But that's your average boy's television show nowadays.   -_- But I'm not saying the occasional fart/butt joke is bad, or a good fight scene.

I don't think they would need to have the new generation aimed at the male audience, they just need to focus an episode on a male character which wouldn't be so bad.
