Princess Twilicorn then and now: Are you accustomed to this yet?

Back then, I remember throwing temper-tantrums on the level of Mass Effect fanboys who were upset over the ending of the third installment of the trilogy, over Twilight Sparkle and how dominant she became over her friends now that she's an alicorn.  But right now, I'm over it, and have grown accustomed to Twilight growing wings and an extra inch.  Plus, to appease the fans who thought Twilight's friends would be rendered obsolete now that she's an alicorn, the writers had Twilight rescued by her friends twice (despite her eventually blasting a vine with her magic), and even unable to hail a taxi cab in "Rarity Takes Manehatten".  Hay, I even remember Meghan McCarthy confirming on Twitter that Twilight will not outlive her friends, even as an alicorn princess.

Besides, so long as there is a group of heroes working together to overcome impossible odds, there is always going to be a leader who unites them all under a single banner.  Most people would compare Twilight to Goku from Dragon Ball Z, but I'd rather compare her to another Hasbro property just like her, Optimus Prime.  Both Twilight and Optimus are leaders of the Mane Six and the Autobots, respectively, who use their strength, wisdom, and charisma to unite their respective teams under a single banner.

Also, like Twilight, who had to be rescued twice by her friends in the S4 premiere, Optimus was seen as not as powerful as we thought he'd be, especially in the Michael Bay movies.

In "Transformers 1", Optimus was getting his robot butt handed to him by Megatron, and Sam Witwicky rescued him by shoving the All-Spark into Megatron's chest. In "Revenge of the Fallen," Optimus Prime died rescuing Sam, and required Sam's Matrix of Leadership dust to be resurrected. Finally, in "Dark of the Moon", Optimus was losing to Sentinel Prime until Megatron intervened and saved his arch-nemesis's life... before getting killed by Optimus alongside Sentinel.

I'm a little lost on what you wrote, tbh.  However, to answer the title question, I actually ignore it.  If i recall, Tara mentioned, she would not change Twilight's personality and keep her the way she was before she became an Alicorn.

She's basically just Unicorn!Twilight with wings.

Really, what's there to get accustomed to?

Well, for starters, she's taller than all of her friends, who are around the same size as each other.

Plus, as a princess, she has responsibilities to an entire kingdom, and not just to her friends.  Yes, she still studies in her library, but her studies now come with politics.

I actually hate it for different reasons now.

They never use her wings... That is my new peeve, they're just there.

She's a princess now, from what I'e seen (based om the other three) she's pretty powerful and yet the writers never aknowladge it.

I could go off on a tangent on this believe me.

There was lots of hints that the show was gonna take a path to someone becoming an Alicorn, and so, thus far, It's still really funny to me that some of you guys are still not accustomed to this. XD It's seriously not a big deal.

To this day, I've never been bothered so badly and for so long by something so trivial. It has been over a year, and I still can't see this in a different light. I hate this. I well, and truly, hate this. I still haven't seen more than the occasional clip from S4. And to be honest, I have absolutely no desire to. My peers thinks it's crazy, my friends think it's crazy, even I think it's crazy. But, it's the truth of the situation for me.

You could always just bite the bullet and watch the first few episodes of season four to find out if it's really all that bad so maybe you can get some closure and move on with your life.

I've tried to. On multiple occasions. I could never get that far.

I've developed a mental fixation. It's something that, no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to leave behind or get around. It's just become a part of my mindset on the show.

That said, this is an issue that very rarely, if ever, gets addressed in my daily life, so it's not like it's an obstacle. :)

Sure, but you're denying yourself something that you would probably enjoy if you actually did watch it.

The wings are really not that big a deal. Twilight being a princess is mostly a big deal at the beginning of the season, because during the beginning and the end of every season the Mane 6 are big damn heroes who save Equestria.

And like all the other seasons, the rest of the episodes are slice of life episodes where the importance of the Mane 6 is largely forgotten, so her wings are mostly cosmetic then.

I think it was built up properly and makes sense in Twilight's character development: Over three seasons, she has learned more and more about friendship and used its power to defeat several evil beings, and she's also the most powerful magic-user in the world. The one thing I dislike is that they don't really do anything with her new powers: most of the recent episodes play out the same as if she was still normal.

It was never an issue for me and certainly didn't bother me. I wondered if it might be a bit early, narrative-wise, but I felt it was a natural development for Twilight as a character. I'm just waiting to see more of how Twilight and her friends feel about. I want to know more about what her status means. But I have no doubt they're going to be exploring that in plenty of detail!

Princess Twilight isn't even treated like a princess. Oh expect for some of the times like in "Twilight Time" But that was to an extreme

So yeah I guess I'm accustomed to it

It's easy to get used to Twilight's new status seeing as how it's only been exploited in 4 episodes (Magical Mystery Cure, both parts of Princess Twilight Sparkle, and Twilight Time).

For everything else, she's just there.

I'm torn about how I feel about Twilights "New" status. At first I was scared for the show because it felt like it was jumping the shark. The power difference, the importance difference, and so on were fears I thought we were going to see. I was afraid that it would no longer be "The mane six' adventures" and turn into "Twilight Sparkle and her sidekicks". Granted even though that is how the show sort of began, it is nice seeing the show go away from that and turn into everyone living their lives.

NOW however, I feel they have gone too far in keeping her completely normal. Now they don't even use her new status other than mentioning it a few times and changing her body. If you are going to hype up something so big at least commit to it and work it out, not hide it and hope everyone forgets about it. If they are just going to forget about it, it might as well have never happened in the first place.

In the end it doesn't bother me that much... it's just a letdown that this huge change turned out to be nothing special at all.

I approve of it, and had done so since the beginning. My only gripe was that her ascension was leaked. Had I found out during the show, my mind would've been blown. This is still a good thing. Our characters aren't static, they are growing and developing. I would love to see this explored more. See what Twilight's new position of power entails, how the public and her friends treat her differently, perhaps how she's changed physically and how her powers are growing. So much potential here.
