If someone were to make their original character an alicorn.

An intriguing thought came to my head that I would like feedback on. Have you ever seen someone have an alicorn OC before who wasn't Lauren Faust?

Now, I am not talking about alicorn OCs in fan fictions, those are fine so long as there's a good reason for them being and alicorn and there isn't a kind of Marie Sue/Marty Sue thing going on. I'm talking about someone who is narcissistic enough to make the OC that they call the ponified version of themself an alicorn. I have never seen anyone except Lauren Faust do this, and I'm not saying that Lauren Faust is narcissistic in any kind of way. Lauren Faust is the creator of the show. Without her, the community wouldn't exist. Therefore it isn't wrong for her to have an alicorn OC. Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think her OC was made by fans of the show, and not her herself.

I digress.

I have never, in all my days, ever seen any brony make their personal OC an alicorn, and I see this as a good thing. It reflects upon the general character of the brony community in quite a positive way in terms of knowing that you're not high and mighty. But I wonder, have any of you ever came across a brony with the personal OC of an alicorn? What were your thoughts and reactions to this? How would you react if you saw a brony make their OC an alicorn?

I don't mind Lauren's OC to be an alicorn. But, other bronies make their alicorns way to OP, means over powered, in their fan fictions. I personally don't mind other people having alicorn OCs, I'm just in it for a good backstory. Now my OC, on the other hand, is not an alicorn, but a simple earth pony. Why you might ask? Because earth ponies are just plain awesome.

I agree with Grayson on this.

Now not to go off tangent.  I, for one have 5 OC Alicorns, that are somewhat OP, b/c they are a Gods of Time, Space, Distortion, Origins, and Tyranny, with a deep, dark backstory.  Yet, I do not use them in roleplay, b/c indeed that would be unfair.  If I were to roleplay though, i stick to my main OC which is a Pegasus.

My OC which I am in the process of making is a unicorn. More or less, I feel like if I had an alicorn OC it would mean that I couldn't decide between unicorn, Pegasus or earth pony. Of course, i'm also not the biggest fan of alicorns. There's nothing with people out there with OC alicorns i'm not saying that! I'm just saying I don't feel comfortable with an alicorn OC that's all!!! I did see this one alicorn OC I liked.... a lot.

I don't care what pony you like because I like everypony!

I think that anything can be done. Key is, you have to do it well. For me, a good alicorn OC has an interesting and well written history without resorting to cliches, and is believable in the world of Equestria. I rarely see people pull one off, though.

I think the word you're looking for is "Ponysona".

Here's my question: did Lauren actually invent the Fausticorn, or did somebody in the fandom make it?

I think she did it, herself.  I know Tara's got hers done by someone

If anyone were to dub their OC an instant alicorn- it would instantly become a bad OC if not played right. You see, Alicorns are gods - so you cant have a OC that is immature all the time be an alicorn. For instance - Princess Celestia and Princess Luna have existed for thousands of years - they know alot, they are supposed to be almighty and powerful and all knowing and all that great stuff. They are the ones teaching the lessons

celestia kindof plays god sometimes

Because earth ponies are just plain awesome.
Terra Lionmane agrees with you.

Making your ponysona an alicorn is... showing you are unsure about your identity whether you are the "wits" pony, the "dexteritry" pony, or the "earthbound/logical" one. Whatever... they might just be experimenting. I for one made a changeling OC first.

I have two Alicorn OCs. One that can wield fire that is semi-OP. Rarely do I use him. The other lives in Canterlot but is not royal. She was just born an alicorn because of a mutation.

To make an alicorn OC, I believe that one has to have the right mindset and the maturity.

Well, for my first OC I wasn´t sure if I would be a unicorn or a pegasi. So i decided to combine it, the ALIcorn kinda goes with my name ALLIson. Well almost, and then I like the idea of having both powers and being able to do anything. But then It kinda sound selfish so im deciding to make another OC of myself this time a pegasi soon.

My own OC is a pegasus. I'd never get an Alicorn OC as my ''ponyfied'' version. Mainly because I just in general don't like 'em. They're commonly the same, generally overpowered and I would say it is kind of arrogant if you use such an OC as a ponyfication of yourself. For fanfics? Sure, they are fine. As long as, like you said, they are important for the story, and not an overpowered Mary Sue/Gary Stu.

Whatever, that's just me I guess. I honestly don't really care if someone uses an Alicorn OC. I shouldn't really be criticizing. Some people just like Alicorns, and I am simply not one of them.

Yes.

There aren't many, but some people do have Alicorn OCs or pony personas.

I don't see them often, but I know they they usually get hate for being "OP'd" and such.

But hey, when you can't pick between the 3 mane pony races, why not just have all 3, right?

I personally have anything against them, I think they're kinda cool.

My OC doesn't even NEED to be an alicorn to be completely OP, read it's back story and you will understand! ^_^
