When i started out, i was absolute shit.

Sorry to say, this wasn't my first time ^^;

 

Most of those pics in the first post were made a bit before I made this thread. My first ones are from January or December. THEY were absolute shit.

I'm a bit disturbed by the second picture, since it seems to be Rainbow Dash (regarding her cutie mark), but it also seems a lot like Applejack. Weird... I'd never thought I could recognize a pony by its face 

 

Oh, did you use any reference pictures when drawing them? Or you can do it just from imagination?

 

And hey, vectoring is easier than you think. I could tell you some secrets in depth, if you want.

 

So maybe you can make a tutorial for all of us?

I know, there are plenty of them already. But if you think you have some practical advices, or unusual techniques, or something which hasn't been covered in these tutorials yet, I'd be glad to see it

Nope, no references. I'm gonna try and practice ponies without references, just to prove my skills and to improve faster.

I'm definitely improving, whereas it takes 30 minutes to make a pony even look reasonable, I now did it in only 10 minutes (still not that good though).

Yup like I said in the OP I started somewhere in January. (EDIT: I actually didn't, derp  ) So just in 3 months I've developed this much. I also find that drawing without reference is an effective way of learning. Seems to be working.

 

But don't worry you'll get there with practice just like anyone else.

I've never done commissions, only requests.

 

Mostly because I'm so lazy to stay in the deadlines and I also feel my art is not worthy of selling...others do it better.

 

In other words, I'm only doing it as a hobby for now, I feel like I'd be robbing people if I sold my novice artwork...

The art is beautiful! Better than anything I could probably ever do. I've never been good at drawing, people that can are really lucky. I put a lot of time and effort into drawings but they never come out the way I want. So I don't really draw anymore. Love what you've done with yours though!

Believe me, I feel the same since I used to draw more when I was younger...most of the time, actually. But now that I've come up with new hobbies and finally got my own PC a while ago it has engaged me lol.

 

When I didn't have a PC or didn't have online racing as my hobby, I drew.

 

But I know I will get better at this rate.
