I looked at Amber and shrugged. "Remind me to grab my armor and gun from the carriage." I looked back at the group. "My guess is that they'd live close to the edge of town or be part of the watch, if there is one. They could have a secret passage in their house or something that allows them to smuggle the ponies into the city past the guards. If they're part of the watch, they could be rigging patrols or feeding patrol info to the Technophiles allowing them to slip by. The house would be their base of operations inside Regia. We'd start with the guards and those on the outside of the city, especially where the attack started. Make sure to get inside the homes of the ponies you're talking to to look for any hidden doors or anything like that. Someone should also look in some of the abandoned buildings for passageways."

I looked at the pegasus. "Judging by the quality of your jumpsuit, you are fresh out of your Stable 16." I held out a hoof. "Name's Steady Hoof, formerly part of Stable 32. Nice to meet you." I turned to Anaphora and glared for a brief moment before dropping it. If that slaver thought she could fool ponies with a disguise she was mistaken. If she did anything funny, there would be a hole in her head before she could get out of my range.

Bottlecaps...you have to be kidding me. Renatus thought as they entered, deciding to ask Knight later if their was a logical reason for the currency of the Equestrian Wasteland being something so trivial as bottlecaps. Well at least I'll keep an eye out for them. He noted as he glanced at the shop's several shelves, all of them full with all  sorts of ammunition, Renatus could only guess for what type of weapons they were for. He turned his attention back to Knight as he called to him, wincing at the mention of his name. He didn't know why, but for some reason he naturally disliked having his name mentioned publicly while he was using a cover. He ignored it for now, adding it to his growing list of things he wanted to talk about with Knight. Turning his attention to the weapons, Renatus slowly examined them, noting their condition and features until his eyes settled on the markpony rifle. Lifting it and four clips of ammo for it in his magic, he asked the store owner, " How much for this?"

The store owner, who was a mid-aged earth pony stallion wearing a worn black apron and sporting a unshaven beard, glanced to the weapon as said, " For a weapon like that and four clips, it would be 1050 caps." Renatus had no idea whether it was a good price for it or not, but was sure he could still lower the price replied, " 1050 caps for this. Don't we all know that's a bit much for this, I mean just look at the condition..." he paused, pointing to the worn barrel and scope, "...I think a better price would be 300 caps, don't you?" he asked, his voice turning as smooth as chocolate. The stallion stammered as he replied, " I-I'm sorry lady, but the price is still 1050 caps." Renatus frowned slightly, though it quickly turned into a seductive smile as he said, " Oh, I'm sure for you could go less, 350 caps for the nice mare. I'll even throw in my pistol and I'll put a good word in for the mares around town for you." The stallion hesitated, looking away as he thought about the offer. After a moment, he turned back to Renatus and said, " Alright, 600 and not a cap less, though you have to promise to not to tell anypony else and make sure to put in that good word in for me."

Renatus gave a mental grin as he replied, " You have a deal, my fine stallion." Putting on the strap for the rifle and pocketing the clips, he place his pistol on the counter and turned to Knight and said, " Now could you do me a favor and pay him please.

"Heh, you got a thing for haggling," I said with a smirk. "I like it."

I gave the stallion what he wanted. 600 caps, no more, no less. He gladly accepted the caps.

"Pleasure doing business with you," he said. "Would there be anything else?"

"Hmm, Some 5.52 mm ammo and .308 rounds for me and a few 9 mm ammo for the pretty mare."

He disappeared and returned with several boxes of ammo

"That will be 150 caps."

150! Ok, time for a nice trade.

"How about 75 caps and this super stimpack. It's top of the line medicine. You might need it in some point o stay alive.

He thought about it for a while, and then gladly accepted it. I gave him 75 caps and and my last Super Stimpack.

"Thanks," I said to him as I got the ammo and went out.

As they left, Renatus had barely finished closing the door with his magic when he turn Knight, his voice ice cold as he hissed, " Knight, while I've only been with you for a while lets get one thing clear. Never say my name in public while I'm using a cover, ok. I don't want to explain why just don't. Clear?" Holding his expression for a few moments to cement his point, it suddenly returned to normal as he spoke, seeming to act like nothing happened, " Now, lets go see if we can go fine ourselves a doctor for my ." He then trotted off, leaving Knight behind as he began looking for the town's doctor, assuming they had one. I wonder how he even knows my name, I don't remember ever even telling him. He stopped and facehoofed as it struck him, My barding. Also ow...Remembering that his name was machine printed on his barding, next to his chest. That still left him with more questions than answers as he wondered how it even got there. If only I could remember. he thought to himself, sure that if he could get his memories back all would be answered. Though lets focus on getting a doctor for now, my hoof's had been killing me.

"If you say so," I told him. "But what am I suppose to say since you're a ma..."

My word trailed off when he left to go looking for his doctor. Jumpy much. Thinking of a more accurate way to find the doctor, I went inside the store again to find out where it is. Easy enough, he said it was just a few doors down east. I went back outside again and luckily found him, doing whatever the buck he's doing...

"Hey, the doctor is this way," he said. "And seriously, what am I gonna call you?"

If she did anything funny, there would be a hole in her head before she could get out of my range.

@,

"I'm not sure if I would agree to search and seize other ponies' homes, let alone sneak into it and steal things," I (Baryon) argued. Really, it didn't feel necessary to just barge into some pony's property. There should be some other way to do this. "Your 'hidden passageway' theory is highly conjectural, but possible. They could just slip through the defenses right in their faces and ambush from the inside." Why do I feel this is becoming some kind of dramatic mystery fiction?

I took a quick observation at Anaphora. Both the newcomer and her were giving death-stares at each other. Was something wrong with the two? Anaphora simply tightened her saddlebags and tipped her brown hat – it looked like a fedora from the pre-war. "Some of the buildings were rigged with traps. When we searched around the house we found the body in, there was an active mine, along with a few gun or grenade traps."

Forage added, "And whoever made this was skilled. They built an Equestrian EM-15 bounding fragmentation mine, proximity-based. That was military-grade during the war. The pony that did this knew how to create one from scratch. Good thing I learned how to use explosives and disarm them."

While hearing his comments on the case, I saw a small yellow marker behind me on the E.F.S. I turned back, seeing nothing on the street except for some poor ponies and foals, crying and simply looking miserable on the street in their dirty sleeping bags. The marker swiftly disappeared in sight. Strange. Was that just a PipBuck bug? But it didn't feel like one. My PipBuck survived an EMP grenade, and the only problem on it was the disability of detecting hostile units. It could, however, measure distance, since the markers nearby were far bigger.

I ignored the marker and turned back. "We should investigate the attack zone. Some of the buildings, as previously noted, are undamaged," I looked at the pony, suddenly reminding me of another stallion. "Speaking of Stable 32...I've seen a pony that's from the same Stable as you. Frizzen. Gun manufacturer, uses an assault carbine, precise shooter. Wait...I think Frizzen's still in the building!"

I jumped into flight. I don't use my wings very often, mostly due to the fact that the Stable didn't offer much room to fly in and that my Stable barding initially wasn't made for pegasi (the ponies eventually cut holes in the barding). It did save some time, nonetheless, and I kicked open the door and moved up the stairs with disregard of the used traps.

To my surprise, Frizzen was missing, and Anaphora and Forage came into the room. "Where is he? He isn't here!" I hastily asked, looking around the rooms. There was still his blood on the floor, with red drops moving into the hallway. It abruptly stopped before it reached the stairs. I couldn't have wrongly remembered which building it was. There was the rigged shotgun and the cut tripwire, and everything seemed to be where they were supposed to be..."

Renatus looked back and replied, giving a sheepish smile, " Oh, of course..."  he paused, turning around and stopping next to Knight before continuing, "...and about my name..." he sighed, searching for the right words and slowly started again, keeping his voice carefully neutral,  " ...it's just that for a Changeling, their true name is something that is... precious to them. Mostly because we live our lives as someone else, always in a different form, just to survive. Our names is our form of maintaining our identity. Though I guess it doesn't even matter anymore, I'm the last of my kind and I doubt I'll ever need to use a cover for more than a few days...so just forget it." he finished, his face visibly saddening as he was reminded of the fact that he was most likely the last of his race. he looked away as he said, a depressed tone entering his voice, " Anyway lets go find that doctor."

Charcoal sighed as she followed along beside Line, the dust and dirt blowing in the wind being blocked by her glasses. What was she even doing here? She needed to just find a nice place and settle down for the rest of her life and not have to deal with all this. She found herself just walking along beside Line and not saying anything as they walked though the Wasteland.

"It's right over there," I told him, pointing to the direction of the clinic. "And about you being last of your kind... we can't be too sure. You did tell me that your kind uses cover to look like normal ponies. Who knows, maybe you're not the only one left in this foresaken wasteland."

I gave him a bit of a pep talk. Not much of a good teammate if you're distracted. I lead him to the clinic. Hopefully, the doctor there can remove that bullet from his hoof.

((This is an Introduction to another character into the RP, Hence the other Notification ;)))

Walking the Roads is boring, yup. Now I know why I had more talkative Companions for mine. Heh, I guess I shouldn't be thinkin' like that, it's just she ain't a talkative one. We should be friends already, but I guess she's a bit shy on everything. When we got to the distance to where we can see the Trading Post, I can tell that it's still in use, which is good. The NER didn't lose this, or really let go, might I say. Anyway, I smelt three things that I'm glad I can smell again: Beer, Caps, and the Cold tense air of a deal. Do I love my Job, and beer.

Anyways, I was walking up to a stall, when my eyes were drawn to a Blue Mare with a Tattoo and peircings. Interesting, she even had one of those rare .45 Auto Pistols, those things'll get a pretty penny. I can tell that she's not gonna sell it. I kept walking though, because she's not acting like she gives a shit.

At the Stall, I was talking to the Stallion. "Hello, Snow" I said to the White Stallion. "Line! It's been too long!" The stallion, shocked, Ran out for a hug. I accepted "Hey, are you still workin', Snow? Ya know, Tradin' s'pplies 'n such?" I said, in a cautious tone. "Oh, sure. What do you want? Wait, aren't you a caravaneer? Don't you just buy stuff at the compound?" I said straight out, he was one of my old buddies, "Well, I'm on a bit of a mission and my... buisness is on hold. Yeah, I need to make a trade deal for some high up people." He replied, "Well, if it's with you, then I trust 'em, whatcha need?" I spoke while giving a letter to him, "It's a Trade deal, they want these items and they'll pay you bottle caps when you get there, they told me to give you some advance pay" I handed a small bag of caps to Snow and he received, "Um... You don't happen to have some drinks I can get right?" I said with some spark in my voice, "Well, they are supposed to be saved for a special occation, and I guess this is one, Am I right?"

He levitated a bottle of wine to me,and with himself a bottle of whiskey. That Stallion always loved his Whiskey, he used to have entire caravans sent for a few bottles of whiskey. Heh, I guess I'm like him in a way, stickin' to the bottom of a bottle when times get rough, but he's a nice friend. He's one of the ones that found me when I was walking away from New Appleoosa, then we went north. I even still remember we had drinking games to see who could drink the most shots while shooting our pistols accurately at some small wildlife. The times. There was one time where he was so drunk he nearly shot hismelf, Hehe, but I grabbed it before he fired and he passed out. I missed this Fella. He's always been there for me, but when he started getting slower and he started to hurt more and more, he had to stop, so he set up this here Trading Post. It's a Shit hole, but it's his shit hole. so that makes everything better in my books.

After the Drinks I said goodbye to Snow and I started to walk to another stall, when I spotted the blue Mare again, her Tattoo and Pistol, catching my eye. I walked over to hello this time. "Uh... Hi there, I'm Line Plucker. Who're you?"

Charcoal kept to herself as they walked along the 'road', or at least what was left of it, to the trading post that Line had spoken so highly of. As it came into view Charcoal wasn't really impressed by what she saw. Wow... this place is really in rough shape. And this is a trading post? I've heard of them being the best business in the wasteland, but this is ridiculous. Charcoal thought to herself as she walked up to the trading post and into a Stall of some sort.

As soon as they walk in though, Line ran off to talk to somepony. Charcoal wasn't really interested in talking to him, but while Line walked up to him she noticed Line look at a blue mare. Charcoal looked at her as well, but then focused onto her weapon. She may not be very good at talking, but she knew a rare weapon when she saw one. That was a 45. automatic pistol. Those were hard to come by.

As Line talked to the stallion Charcoal continued examining the 45. pistol. She could tell it had a bit of wear and tear on it. She wanted to fix the pistol, but she didn't want to be rude as Line walked up to the mare.

Knight's words didn't do much to cheer up Renatus as he trudged into the clinic. Looking around, he was surprised at it's size. A few beds were in one side of the clinic, all separated by makeshift curtains, a few of which were closed while the rest were open. On the other side, a desk with a terminal on it and  two tables line up together held a few chemistry sets and other medical equipment. Though what had caught Renatus's eye was the safe in the far corner of the room though he quickly shifted his focus as one of the closed curtains opened slightly as a unicorn mare with a tired expression wearing a simple white tank top emerged and said halfheartedly at us, " Oh hi, the name's Healing Hoof. What do you want?" Renatus stepped forward showing her his injured hoof and replied, " I was hoping to see if you could patch up me leg." Healing Hoof only studied the leg quietly for a few seconds before replying with the same expression, " Yea, that's great. Now that would be 200 bottle caps, paid up front. I don't do tabs." Something in the mare's voice signified that it was non-negotiable.

Swiftly securing her gun, which was already holstered to her hoof she saw Line's striking colours approach from the corners of her eyes. Her expressionless face turned to her.

An introduction? How pitiful and useless. Where did she need to introduce for?

She raised a single eyebrow noticing another mare accompanying her.

Finally a rough, voice was pushed through her throat. Rough, but not unpleasant. She skipped the introduction as she didn't trust em, and got straight to the selling.

'What'd ya need? Got some 9 mills. They're in shitty condition.' He tone stayed the same, rather intrusive but monotone. 'But yeah, what'd ya expect, they do what they gotta do. Shoot motherfuckers.' She had this typical Fillidelphian accent, very urban.

Suddenly her uninterested look turned to Charcoal. 'I saw you lookin'. This is my '45, don't even think about it. You can have a 9 mill. They were hard enough to get.'

'So let me get this straight.' She started. 'Right of the bat ya introduce yaself, while I just deliver stuff. I don't need no fucking cute, cuddly relationship with customers. Her eyes narrowed and she looked into Line's eyes with a piercing look. 'And then bribing is the worst thing ya can do. I don't do caps, I steal. I take what others don't deserve and give them to the ones that need it. As a little gift. They can pick something themselves. It's how I pass my time.'
The last words she said were very slowly paced and dark. 'Now, get out of my face. Before you don't have one anymore.'

He was one of the last to leave. He was always our best moral compass and could handle his assault rifles. It'll be nice to see him.'

Catching and checking the caps in the pouch in her magic, Healing Hoof only rolled her eyes as she replied in bored tone, " Oh I'm sure. Anyway all seems to be in order so you follow me." She gestured to Renatus, who was only staring at the ground trying to hide his face, which was something bordering on indignation and embarrassment. Though he quickly raised his head and followed the mare, who had already started walking away without him. She led him to one of the open beds and pointed inside with a hoof as she said, " Go lay the bed I'll be right back." Renatus walked into the room a heard Healing shut the curtain behind him as he lay down on the bed, injured hoof showing. Taking advantage of the fact he was alone for the time being, his horn glowed slightly, lighting the room in a soft green light as he cast a spell that would allow him to keep the cover should he fall asleep or fall unconscious while the unicorn operated on his leg, though he only gave it enough power that it would only last for two hours.

Though at least it wasn't too taxing to cast. he noted as he rested his head on the rough pillow that felt more like a rock. He turned his attention to the curtain as it was pulled back, revealing Healing as she entered, pushing a cart full of medical supplies. Some of which Renatus could recognize, like a scalpe and a few healing potions while others he couldn't make heads or tails of. Remaining slient, Healing examined Renatus leg and after a few minutes said, her tone suddenly turning more professional and serious, " Ok, for what I can see now the bullet missed the bone so all I need to do is remove the bullet fragments and clean up the wound. It should take about two hours and while I doing this, I going to use a spell that will numb the pain while I operate, but comes with the side effect of occasionally knocking out my patient while they are under the effects. Do you understand?" Renatus only nodded, " Ok let's begin." Healing replied as her horn began to glow with a soft grey light as she brought her horn down onto Renatus's leg. The glow spreading to cover his body as the world faded to black.

@,

I paced back and forth in the room. I know operations would take time, but I'm not a very patient stallion to begin with. I just wanted things in a snap. This... It just ate my time... a lot of my time. But I did promise him I'm staying by his side. Oh well, better have another bottle of whiskey to pass the time. Anything that might satisfy me while I wait.
