"Alright..." Elias said, cautiously. He hadn't exactly worded that properly. But, if he had, they'd also most certainly turn him away. Again, still a bad plan. But, oh well. Travelling with two young ladies was certainly a nice thing to experience, and it was most certainly on his list of ways he wanted - or rather was fine with - to die. 

 

As the three walked, Elias summoned his Elgyem again. The distinct lack of direction was starting to bother him. Elgyem made sure to hide himself from Espeon slightly. That pokemon was a threat for sure. They'd have to catch a pokemon to combat it.

 

"Oh... Uhm..." The boy murmured to himself as Cilla asked her question. "Well, I'm actually from Kalos. Lumiose to be specific. There's a lot of travelers there, and the accent is a bit different from the rest of Kalos because of it, hence my accent. A passing trainer gave me Elgyem as an egg not too long ago." He said, retelling the story in his head. "...Hopefully I'll never see her again." 

 

When the group arrived on Route 36, Elgyem immediately took off. He needed to find a suitable pokemon for his trainer, after all! Since Elgyem wasn't the best of fighters, they had to catch one of the first pokemon they saw. "Hey! Not too far!" Elias called after him. 

 

The first thing Elgyem found didn't look to be a pokemon. Much more like a bush, but it was a rather odd bush. Anything could happen, right? Well, this might be the pokemon he was looking for! Elgyem poked the Bonsly, hoping for a reaction.

Yiree smirks and starts to turn away, patting her Beartic.  At the gesture her Pokemon pulls Viro down from the ledge and sets her on the path with them before she recalls him to his Pokeball.  "I saw you back in the Den.  You're interested in power.  Well, a word of advice, kid...  There's a storm coming to Johto.  A big one.  And you've got a choice to make.  You can either be swept away by it, or ride it out with us."  Yiree starts to walk away, pausing long enough to grab Viro and shove her ahead of her so the other girl doesn't wander off.  "If you're interested in coming out on top, you can come with us...  Unless you don't think you're strong enough to hold your own."

When Elgyem poked Bonsly, the little bush shook a few times before abruptly smacking Elegym with the top of its head.  Bonsly quickly tries to sink back down into the dirt as though nothing had happened, resuming its busy schedule of trying to pass as a bush.

Clair rolls her eyes and groans, turning to walk away from the arena.  "WHY do you foreign trainers keep coming to me first?  At one point I was considered the strongest Gym Leader in Johto.  Wait there, I don't actually keep the smaller Pokemon on hand...  Because normally I'm not challenged until someone's already earned seven badges..."  Clair walks out of the room towards one of the rooms to the back of the gym, returning after a few minutes with a couple Pokeballs in her hands.  A man dressed as a match official walks in at about this time too, and Clair gestures with a jerk of her head for him to get ready for a match.

 

"This will be a two on two match.  As the challenger, you'll be allowed to switch at any time.  Now lets make this quick."  A slight scowl on her face, Clair tosses one of the Pokeballs out into the field.  A flash of light, and a Bagon stood where the Pokeball had landed.  "Dragon Dance, Bagon."  

 

The small blue dragon starts to glow red upon hearing the expected command, stamping his feet a few times as though to start up a rhythm.

"Zoroark, Taunt!  Skiddo, Razor Leaf!"  Zoroark was backpedaling, trying to keep distance between itself and Helioptile as it brings a hand to his face and does his signature taunting gesture, hoping to keep Helioptile attacking rather than trying to cripple him or charge up.  Zoroark seemed much faster than when he was a Zorua, making it a little easier for him to try and keep the distance between them...  Probably because he had longer legs now.  As this was going on, Skiddo let out a small bleat as Magikarp smacked into it, before responding with a flurry of sharp leaves being launched at both the Magikarp and Helioptile.

Lance had knelt down to pat the sleeping Noibat on the head as he glanced around at the cracks in the walls.  "Neither was I, unfortunately...  It's a good thing the damage was confined to the entrance.  But, Blackthorne is strong, just like her trainers...  The Den should recover with time.  We'll just have to stay more vigilant while it's damaged."  Lance stands back up and smiles at Allen, abruptly changing the topic back to Noi.

 

"She seems very well cared for.  You don't see many Noibat in this region, so I'm glad to see she's in such good hands.  You'll have a fine Noivern in no time, I'd imagine.  Some trainers don't see that a Pokemon's strength truly arises from a loving bond...  Happily that doesn't seem to be the case here."

Elgyem was pushed back and fell onto the ground upon impact. It looked at Bonsly with a confused expression. What was this thing trying to do? Elgyem sighed, getting back up. It didn't like Bonsly, but surely Elias would. So, Elgyem would try it's best to get Bonsly to come to where Elias was. Or Elias to Bonsly, if push came to shove. 

 

The first thing Elgyem would try would be attacking. For some reason, he couldn't psychically connect to the Bonsly. Most likely due to how adamant Bonsly was about... doing whatever it was doing. Elgyem's eyes lit up for a second, before firing a multicoloured Psybeam at its foe.

Helioptile managed to fall for the Taunt before it was able to use Thunder Wave. The pokemon gritted it's teeth, but continued to run towards Zoroark, its head still glowing. Helioptile carefully avoided the leaves, thankfully she was rather fast. "Hah! Fell for it, hm?" Stella said, clearly bluffing. She pointed a finger at Helioptile, who was nearing the dark type. Instead of running into it, however, Helioptile side stepped and began to run around Zoroark. "Now, use Low Sweep!" Helioptile, of course, didn't know Low Sweep. She instead created a Grass Knot behind Zoroark, jumping backward as to wait for Zoroark to come closer.

 

"Uhm... Low Sweep...!" Stella said. She was still bluffing, of course. Helioptile was putting up a rather convincing charade. "Agh... Helioptile, I know you don't like using super effective moves to defeat other pokemon, but if Zoroark gets any closer you're done for!" Helioptile shrugged, turning her head away from Stella, who was covering her face with her hand.

 

Meanwhile, Magikarp was left on its own. Not a problem though. The water type could handle itself, after all. Magikarp, though hit by the super effective Razor Leaf, managed to keep on flopping towards Skiddo, attempting to flop ontop of it.

Sable glared at Yiree when she mentioned her not being able to hold her own. "Just who do you think I am, lady?" Sable says with a slight smirk. "I can handle anything you can throw at me." She says before following the woman. Sable wasn't quiet sure if she believed what she had just said, but Umbreon sure didn't. He hesitated for a second before following his trainer, he didn't like where this was going. "So what kind of storm are we talking about?" Sable asks still following behind Yiree and Viro.

Espeon watched as Elgyem tried to get Bonsly's attention and laughed a bit when the little rock type hit Elgyem with it's head. Why was the psychic alien so determined to catch a Bonsly of all things? Especially when there were much better Pokemon on this route. Espeon would show him, she would find a Pokemon so good that Elgyem would have to be jealous when Cilla caught it and not Elias.

 

As such she walked away from Cilla and explored the route for a bit before finding a bush with a couple sparks coming out of it. This was perfect, she thought, Cilla needs an electric type. Espeon walks up to the push and moves some of the branches with her powers before sticking her head in to see what Pokemon hid behind.

 

"Interesting." Cilla said after listening to Elias' story. She was just about to ask him what happened between him and the trainer with the egg but it seemed Elgyem had run (or floated?) off in search of a Pokemon. "Err...I'll leave you to that." Cilla says to Elias. "Come on Espeon let's-...Espeon?" She says realizing that her Pokemon had run off as well. "Great." she sighs before walking off to look for her Pokemon.

"Hweh?" Abigail uttered in surprise at Elias's statement, before beaming in happiness, "you are from Lumiose, too, Elias? No wonder you seemed familiar! I must've seen you around the city!" Unfortunately, before she could discuss her beloved home further, Elias's Elgyem had run off.  Abigail had turned to start talking to Cilla about this sudden development, but she had to suddenly run off to find her own pokemon.

 

"Oh, um, okay..." Abigail said dejectedly, continuing to walk along the path by herself, clearly not noticing that Elias had remained standing where he was instead of chasing after his pokemon. She figured that since the other two trainers were occupied, she could afford to take some time to look around the route herself. "D'aww, looky, Jeanne! Look, Isabella! Aren't they all adorable?" The clefairy simply puffed out her cheeks, "-ry," whereas the krabby didn't have much to comment on.

 

"Hmm?" Abigail said, seeing a wild pokemon scratch at a hole in the ground. She set down her krabby onto the ground, "I wouldn't want to intimidate it, after all." She slowly and quietly walked up to the vulpix, and knelt down beside it, "Bonjour! What are you up to, little one?"

Vulpix pulled its face out of the hole to look at Abigail, letting out a long "Vuuuul!" before turning its attention back to the hole.  It scratches at the side again before trying to stick its head in the hole, after a couple seconds pulling its head back out and looking quite annoyed. 

 

Looking into the hole, light could be seen faintly glinting off of a small heart-shaped object, just out of Vulpix's reach.  It seemed to be what had the little fire Pokemon so distracted.

The psybeam hit Bonsly and knocked the little Pokemon out of the hole it had dug, making Bonsly bounce a few feet along the path.  It turns around to look at Elegym before its eyes start to water, and Bonsly sits down and starts crying loudly there in the middle of the path.  (Fake Tears)

When Espeon sticks her head in the bush, she would come across two small Pokemon doing a...  Dance routine, of sorts.  A Plusle and Minun were hopping up and down and waving their arms about, red sparks coming from Plusle's hands and blue sparks coming from Minun's.  They both seemed quite intent on their little cheer routine, neither of them noticing Espeon yet.

Zoroark didn't notice the grass knot, yet it didn't seem to make much difference as he was making no move to get any closer to Helioptile.  "Alright Zo, use Snarl."  "Rrrrark!"  Zoroark cries out loudly, his eyes glowing as energy backs up the sound, the attack made even more powerful due to the Nasty Plot from earlier.

 

While this was happening, Skiddo was bleating in annoyance at how persistently Magikarp was...  Flopping at it.  Cecil seemed to be focusing more on Zoroark dealing with Helioptile at the moment, so the little grass type was left on its own.  Not sure of what else it should do, the little goat shook its head until a number of Leech Seeds launched towards Magikarp out of his grassy mane.

Yiree smirked, but didn't respond to Sable's question.  To be fair, Viro did more than enough talking to make up for the other woman's silence.  "Oh, it's going to be HUGE!  Like, it won't be a literal storm, because really no one worries about storms they just go inside and wait for them to end, and going inside isn't going to help much.  I don't really know the whole plan because no one ever tells me anything, but that's okay, because the boss knows what we're doing and that's all that really matters!  You would like him, he's really strong.  Hopefully he'll let you join, he's kinda picky about who joins and who doesn't, a few people tried and didn't make the cut.  You don't really want to know what happened to them though.  You probably shouldn't worry, I bet you'll be fine.  Oh, did you..."

 

As Viro rambled, Yiree set a brisk pace and led them out of the Ice Path.  They quickly passed through Route 44, Mahogany Town, and Route 42 before stopping near a cave entrance into the side of the mountain.  Yiree and Viro step through the entrance of Mount Mortar, but before going far into it they both stop and turn around to stare at Sable.  "This is your last chance to chicken out, kid.  From here on out, there's no going back."

"Ah," Abigail smiled in understanding of the vulpix, "you need help getting that? I can do that for you." She nodded as she pointed to the hole, attempting to communicate non verbally in case the vulpix couldn't quite understand. She leaned forward, and stuck her hand into the hole, feeling around for the object the vulpix wanted. She smiled at the vulpix when she felt it, and grabbed onto the object, so as to pull it out and present it to the vulpix.

"Oh... You are, are you?" Elias said in response to Abi, rubbing the back of his head. If she was from the same city, and had knew him from it, she most likely knew about what he was infamous for. The fact blind people weren't exactly common meant he wasn't exactly unheard of in his home town, especially due to his... habits. "Well, I suppose that means you'd know, huh? Also might be why I didn't find you familiar, right?" 

 

After a while of no reply, Elias turned to face where he guessed Abi would be standing. He extended a hand, and waved around aimlessly at the air. Apparently she had left. "Figures." He muttered. He probably looked like an idiot. He then began to walk in a direction that he believed Elgyem to be. Elgyem was still connected to him psychically, after all. I wonder if I've lost those two girls for good. He thought. For all I know, they both are already in Ecruteak.

 

When Elias had finally found Elgyem, Bonsly had already begun to cry. Elgyem looked to be in a state of shock, and looked to be also panicking somewhat. The crying was loud enough for Elias to pinpoint where Bonsly was, so he bent down beside the pokemon. "Jeez, Elgyem, what did you do?" Elias questioned, as Elgyem shook its head to say it hadn't done anything. Not that Elias would notice. Elias pat the top of Bonsly's head. "Rock type? What are you doing out here? I didn't think there were any caves nearby." He asked it.

Helioptile continued to look away until Zoroark produced a loud sound. She then looked back, seeing a pulse of energy headed straight for her. Unable to dodge, Helioptile's eyes widened as she was hit directly by the attack. The electric type was flung back, and into a stony wall on the cave. "Helioptile!" Stella yelled. Helioptile slunk down to the ground, her eyes portraying that of spirals. Helioptile was unable to battle.

 

As Helioptile was returned to her pokeball, Magikarp was too busy dodging Leech Seed with Splash to notice. When it did notice, it flopped back in front of Stella. "Alright, Magikarp. It's up to you now, so if you have some kind of secret move you've been hiding now would be the time to use it." She said, sarcastically. Magikarp let out a sharp "Karp!" of understanding, then began to glow a bright white.

 

When Magikarp had stopped glowing and morphing into a much larger shape, a completely different pokemon took the field. It was huge compared to Skiddo and Zoroark, and the two trainers themselves. It let out a sharp "Gyaaaaar!" in an attempt to intimidate the foe. Stella was left absolutely speechless by the development. "Uhm... Not really what I meant Magi-" She began, then stopped. That wasn't his name anymore, right?

 

Stella brought out her pokedex to check the new pokemon's data.

 

Gyarados! The Atrocious pokemon! Rarely seen in the wild. Huge and vicious, it is capable of destroying entire cities in a rage.

 

Gyarados' moves had changed too, much to Stella's relief. Magikarp's moves weren't exactly useful, so this was much better. Bite, Leer, and Dragon Rage were all new. Flail was still there too. Plus, Gyarados' ability had changed. Intimidate. Made sense. "Alright Gyarados, Bite on Skiddo!" Gyarados growled, and looked to pick up Skiddo in its mouth, then throw it aside.

Sable gave a small groan as Viro started talking. Even if Sable did end up joining whatever organization these guys were apart of there was no way she was going to get use to this girl. She mostly ignored what she had to say and only picked up a few key points. Namely that their leader was very strong and picky about who joined. Sable liked this as it felt like every other Plasma grunt carried around either a Watchog or a Liepard, it would be refreshing to join a team that had competent trainers outside of the admins. After exiting Ice Path and quickly walking through a couple routes the trio had arrived at Mt. Mortar. "Interesting choice for a base." Sable thought to herself. When Yiree offered Sable her "last chance to chicken out" she chuckled a bit. "I already told you I'm not going anywhere. This isn't the first time I've done this sort of thing." She says. Umbreon, who was still following close behind Sable, looks up at the huge mountain before glaring at the two Storm members. He didn't like any part of this but wasn't going to make a scene for Sable's sake. At least not now.

Espeon put on a rather disapointed look at the sight of Plusle and Minun. Sure they were cute, and Cilla did love cute Pokemon, but there was no way either of the electric rodents were going to make that stupid Elgyem and his trainer jealous. It seemed as if Espeon would have to keep looking. Soon she came across some Nidoran playing around the nearby trees. This was more like it, cute Pokemon that would eventually become more powerful as they evolved. The only problem was that each gender was vastly different from the other so Espeon thought it best to let Cilla decide which one she'd catch.

 

"Oh there you are Espeon." Cilla says arriving one cue. "Don't you ever run away like that again. You almost gave me a heart attack, not to mention you made me leave both Abigail and Elias behind." Espeon simply ignores Cilla's scolding as she motions towards the group of Nidoran. "Oh is this what you were trying to do? Finding something for me to catch?" She asks looking over at the poison types. "Well I appreciate the effort but we really need to get back to the others. Though they are rather cute and I would love to have a Nidoking. Or should I go for Nidoqueen?" Espeon smiles as Cilla questions which gender to catch. She knew her plan had worked and all she would have to do is help Cilla catch one of the wild Pokemon.

 

"I think I'll go for one of the girls. I hear they become very defensive as they evolve and are just too cute to pass up." Cilla says happily. "You stay close by in case things start to get ugly, I'm going to try and talk to one of them." she tells Espeon before walking up to a random Nidoran♀. "Hello there little one, would you like a berry? I have plenty of them." Cilla asks taking out a few Oran Berries from her bag and holding them out in front of the Nidoran♀.

Jason nodded as Clair stated the rules rules. He turned to his Joltik as the battle started. "Joltik, go use thunder wave." He instructed his electric type.

Joltik quickly scuttered towards the Bagon and waves of electricity shot out towards the dragon type as it danced. If the attack connected it would leave Bagon paralyzed.

Allen watched Lance with well respected trust as he knelt and pat Noi who nuzzled his hand in her sleep. If there was anyone Allen had ever looked up to, it was Lance. He remembered how happy everyone was when he became champion. Even when he was defeated by the two trainers from Pallet Town, he was still considered one of the best around and the most respected, though finally stepped down from the elite four after Gold who gladly accepted the responsibility. Allen knew Lance was ready for a break, even though he enjoyed his position and doing all the things he did for the regions. It was no easy task to manage two. In Lance's eyes, you could see the happiness of finally being able to spend quality time with his pokemon. Every good trainer knew that look.

 

Heh...well..not all her trainers, Allen wanted to say but simply smiled and nodded. It was true that the Dragon's Den was sacred to the citizens of Johto, but why someone would attack it was beyond Allen. There wasn't really much of value there either than the love of it by the generations and generations of trainers who were brought up upon it with their pokemon. 

 

When Lance compliment Noi, Allen could help his smile, feeling honored that Lance would be impressed with him. It gave Allen a short sense of pride before he couldn't help but look in a different direction with a saddened look, contemplating the reality of how poor of a trainer and a disappointment to Blackthorne he really was. Of course Lance would say these things...any leader would in troubled times. Strange he didn't know of Allen's lack of always being the straggler with the other dragon trainers of Blackthorne. There was a reason that he spent most nights in the Den. "Thanks, sir...Noi is a good pokemon..." he answered.

As Abigail pulled out the Heart Scale, Vulpix cries out happily and leans forward to sniff the object.  The little fox Pokemon frowns and takes the scale into its mouth, trying to chew on it for a couple seconds, before a pair of long ears abruptly shoot out of the hole next to them to grab the item away from Vulpix.

 

Vulpix cries out in annoyance, turning to shoot a small burst of fire down the hole.  A short distance away another hole opens up as a Bunnelby jumps out of it, holding the heart scale in its hands and sticking its tongue out at Vulpix.  Vulpix looks at Abigail for a minute before crying at the trainer, and trying to pounce on the Bunnelby.

Bonsly stopped crying when Elias patted its head, looking up at the trainer curiously.  "Bon?"  Elias had called him a rock type - how did he know that?  No one ever thought he was a rock type!  Bonsly didn't know what to think of this, and just sat staring up at the trainer waiting to see what he would do.

The little Nidoran looks up at Cilla before looking towards the berry, cautiously sniffing at it.  She grabs the berry and quickly retreats a few steps, watching Cilla warily as she gnaws on it.  Nidoran flares out her ears and puffs up her little pins while she gnaws on the berry - almost like she was trying to make herself look bigger and more intimidating.

Yiree nods slowly at Sable before turning to walk further into the mountain.  They didn't go all that far though, until the three of them came to a stop at seemingly...  Nothing.  There was absolutely nothing special about this section of the wall compared to the rest of the cave - in fact it was fairly boring.  Yiree steps forward towards the wall and bangs her fist on the rock a few times.  "Let us in, ox!  We're back from Blackthorn!"

 

Things were quiet for a couple more minutes, before a quiet groaning could be heard, like something heavy moving.  Cracks start to show up on the wall as part of it moves backwards, revealing a doorway that was effectively hidden using the same boulder it had been cut from.  The massive rock moves aside far enough that they could walk through single file, and Yiree steps through first.

 

The first sight on the other side is a mountain of a man - he would easily tower over almost anyone in a crowd, and the fact he wasn't wearing a shirt left his muscles bare to see.  He was mostly bald, except for a tight braid of blonde hair going down the back of his head, and a fu-man-chu mustache of the same color.  One hand was resting on the back of the boulder that had been moved, the chains hanging off of his forearms clanking quietly against the stone.  "...Yiree, who is the child?"  One of the large man's hands slowly starts to ball into a fist as he stares at Sable, a small frown on his face.

 

"Shove off, ox.  She's interested in joining.  I'm taking her to the boss, not to you."  As they speak, Viro leans up behind Sable to whisper in her ear, trying to keep her informed about what was happening.  "That's Yang.  He's usually in charge of gatekeeping, since he's the only one freakishly strong enough to move the boulder without having a Pokemon help him."

Cecil and both of his Pokemon gasped as Magikarp evolved, and Skiddo was easily caught and tossed aside by the large Pokemon.  "Skiddo, return!"  Cecil had recalled the grass Pokemon before it had hit the ground, knowing that it would have put him out of the fight anyways.

 

"Rark!"  Zoroark cries out with a grin, seemingly excited that the battle had actually turned difficult, before firing off a Snarl towards Gyarados.

"Bagon, Fire Fang."  Bagon starts to rush directly for Joltik, running straight into the Thunder Wave in an effort to dive towards the small bug.  He does seem to slow down as he leaps through the electricity, but the small dragon had momentum on its side from the dive.  It opens its mouth widely, fire starting to billow around its teeth as it tries to bite down on Joltik.

Lance frowns slightly as Allen looks away, crossing his arms across his chest.  As the former champion, he knew the look doubt when he saw it.  He'd grown used to seeing it when challengers lost against him.  With Allen not looking at him, Lance took the opportunity to extend a hand and smack him in the back of the head.

 

"Then be a trainer worthy of her."  He waits for Allen to look back to him before continuing, his arms once again folded across his chest.  "From what little I can see, you obviously care for her.  You're raising her well.  If that's the case then she obviously has faith in you, so have some in her.  And in yourself.  If she sees you doubting yourself, she'll start doing the same anytime she fails."  Lance's stern look fades as a small smile comes back to his face.

 

"Why do you think Clair is considered so difficult to beat?  The fact that she uses dragons, sure...  But she knows she's a strong trainer.  She gets pissed if someone even suggests otherwise.  Hell, she gets pissed when someone accidentally even remotely suggests otherwise."  Lance sighs quietly at that last part, as he'd just recently gone through it himself, turning around to walk back to his Gyarados.  As he climbs back onto its head, he looks back to Allen and nods towards him.

 

"I have things to see to, but think about this the next time you're doubting yourself...  The Dragon's Den is closed to almost everyone, unless the Elders allow them inside.  Yet you've spent your nights in here more than once, from what you told me.  That must mean they've seen something in you, right?"  The former champion's stern look fades into a smile again as he raises a hand to wave towards Allen, Gyarados already starting to carry him towards the shrine in the back of the Den.

Elias tilted his head at the Bonsly's sound. He wasn't sure how to decode the sound. After all, the only pokemon other than Elgyem he had been exposed to were stray Furfrou and Gogoat and Skiddo who people rode around Lumiose City. So, instead of taking the sound like a question as had been intended, he took it as agreement. "Oh, so you are lost, huh? Well, we best take you back to your regular abode! Let's see..." Elias said, pulling out his pokedex to analyze Bonsly with it.

 

Bonsly! The Bonsai pokemon! It prefers an arid atmosphere. It leaks water that looks like tears when adjusting its moisture level.

 

"Hmmmm... Bonsai pokemon? Isn't that a small tree? How odd to call a rock type something like that." He said.  "Anyway, our best bet is the driest place nearby. I'm not sure if there is one, however. I best ask one of the girls..." Elias extended a hand to the Bonsly, as if asking permission to pick it up.

"Dragon Rage!" Stella said in command to her pokemon, who fired a blast of energy at Zoroark's blast of energy. The collision of attacks caused a small explosion. "Now, Flail!" Gyarados nodded, and attempted to fling Zoroark away with its tail.

"Gah..." The pop across the back of the head threw Allen off balance, not expect the physicality as he rubbed the spot in question. It drew his attention back to Lance almost instantly though, obviously the one of the many reasons he could have done it. His words and expressions felt like a sledgehammer bursting through concrete as Allen listened like a nerdy schoolkid. Never once did Lance waiver in his words, his copper eyes burning with fire of a worthy champion. It made Allen cower just slightly, before feeling a comforting and encouragement. 

 

He looked to Noi, seeing her still sleeping with an occasional giggly chitter. She meant so much to Allen. They had been through everything together. Picking her up, the small pokemon's eyes slowly began to open, smiling at her trainer with a happiness to see him again. Noi could see the wonder in Allen's eyes, turning her head for a moment to see Lance and the Gyarados waving back. "Noi," she chirped gleefully before turning and nuzzling into Allen's shirt. 

 

Allen waved back to Lance, a small smile creeping up his face. "Thank you, Lance...I will try..." he answered lowly enough for only himself and Noi to hear. Then, with a tight hug and a rub to Noi's ears in return, the alarm that had been set to wake the pair up began going off. Noi quickly followed it with a tired yawn. "Heh, you slept well," Allen teased before Noi simply grumbled back. The time had come to pack everything up and proceed out of the Den. Noi could see a small glimpse of confidence rise in her trainer and friend. He smiled the whole way back out of the Den...and so did she.

Clair wasn't awaiting him with a stern gaze like she always did, surprisingly but thankfully. Must be a gym battle or something... With a shrug, Allen let Noi fly around and get some fresh, mountain air as he made his way to the Blackthorne gym. Something to pass the time. Maybe Clair will finally get her butt kicked. The thought made Allen chuckle as he stretched and yawned, rubbing an eye as he passed through the doors. As soon as he entered though, seeing all the other trainers gathered to watch, he realized it must have been a good battle. Noi almost slammed into the door when she entered but expertly weaved in and onto Allen's back. "Heheh, no way...Jason's going for it," he said with a proud smile as he gently pushed past the other to where he could go into the main arena instead of watching everything from a tv screen on the outside. Clair never did like interruptions, but Jason was his friend and so was Lumi. The had fought for him, so why could he do the same for them?

 

A bunch of the trainers gasped as Allen entered, even though he didn't care. It was his right to be their for a friend and cheer them on, no matter how many punishments he would get from Clair. It was as Lance said, confidence was what needed to guide him...no matter how hard it was. Taking up position on the side of the arena, Allen called out to his friend. "You got this Jason! Give snooty Clair the best you've got!" he cheered confidently with Noi jumping up and sitting on Allen's head.

Sable put on a confused look as Yiree led her to what seemed like an ordinary wall. It wasn't until a couple minutes later that the wall opened reveling, not only Team Storm's HQ, but a large burly man who was apparently known as Yang. "Uh-huh. Remind me never to get on his bad side." Sable whispered back at Viro. Had he not questioned Sable's presence, she would have assumed he was some sort of Pokemon himself. As Yiree led the group into the base Sable looked around, once again confused. "I don't see many grunts around here. Is this like an admin only area or something?" she asks Yiree.

Cilla giggles at the Nidoran's attempt to look bigger. "You don't have to try and scare me, I won't hurt you." she says before calling Espeon over. "This is my partner, Espeon. She's a very friendly Pokemon wouldn't you say so?" she asks the psychic type who nods and gives a slight smile. Espeon then tries to walk up to the Nidoran trying to look as harmless as possible. "Espe~" the Pokemon calls out as if she was trying to say hello.

"Hweh? Non-non! You two..." She said, putting her hand on the vulpix to dissuade it from pouncing on the bunnelby. She looked at the hairy hare, and then back to the vulpix, to notify them that she was addressing both of them. "There is no need to fight!" She she looked back at the bunnelby, a smile on her face, "come here, little fella. Surely, there must be something you could want for that scale."

 

She looked at her clefairy, and motioned to it to bring her their food supply. The clefairy puffed out its cheeks, clearly not happy to be sharing her food with these wild ruffians. Abigail gave a stern look, however, and silently goaded the clefairy into complying. The clefairy presented its trainer a pouch of berries, and Abigail grabbed it with her free hand, her other still comforting the vulpix.

 

Abigail looked at the bunelby, a cheerful smile on her face as she opened the pouch by tugging at one end with her mouth, not wanting to let her hand off the vulpix. She dangled the showed the opening of the pouch to the bunnelby, presenting the delicious pokemon food in it. "I'll give you all these berries if you give us that pretty scale." She ceased presenting the berries to the bunnelby and held the pouch to her chest. She didn't want the pokemon to just snatch her bargaining chip away, after all.

Jason frowned as the Bagon began to use a fire type attack. He knew that it would be super effective against both of his pokemon. "Joltik dodge the attack and counter with one of your own." Jason instructed.
The Joltik side stepped forwards; his small size and the slowed down Bagon let him easily step under the Bagon's dive. As he did so the little bug used Electroweb aimed straight as the Bagon's flaming mouth. "Jolt!"

Jason smiled as his Joltik dodged the attack. He heard the familiar voice of Allen. He turned towards his friend and waved then turned his attention back to the battle.

Clair glances towards the sidelines to scowl at Allen, but quickly turned her attention back to the match.  As the web wrapped around Bagon's mouth, Clair seemed far from worried.  Quite the opposite, really...

 

"Bagon, use Rest."

 

 The small dragon looks back to Clair before nodding his head, and Bagon shut his eyes.  Still standing upright, Bagon started to glow slightly as lost health returns and the paralysis disperses, though Bagon was effectively asleep on his feet now.

 

"Follow it up with Sleep Talk."

 

Bagon mutters something in his sleep, and the sleeping Pokemon starts to glow red and stamp his feet as though using Dragon Dance in a dream.

Yiree smirks as she leads Sable down a long corridor.  "I told you, kid.  Only the strong get to join the Storm.  We don't have 'grunts'.  There's twelve of us, thirteen if you count the boss.  He doesn't let the weak join his team.  Team Rocket, Magma, Flare, Plasma, any of them...  Where they went wrong was letting any idiot wear their colors.  If the boss can't depend on us to hold our own, how should he expect us to follow through with orders."

 

They reach a larger cavern, this one seemingly set up as some kind of living quarters.  There were couches and cots strewn about a little randomly, as well as tables and even a television.  A young man was currently sleeping on one of the couches, a red bandana over his eyes.  A Mightyena looked up from next to the couch, eyeing Sable curiously but lowering its head back to its paws since Yiree and Viro were with her.  Not even sparing a second glance to the sleeping man, Yiree starts leading them towards a large door in the back with the now-familiar storm cloud symbol inscribed in it.  Viro, still trying to keep Sable informed, whispers to her anyways.  "That's Kaleb, I swear, he's always asleep whenever we come here...  He was supposed to be on a mission at the same time we were, I guess he got back first though.  He was supposed to be doing something in Violet, I think."

 

Yiree banged on the door a couple times before walking in, motioning for Sable to follow her and Viro to stay outside.  Once Sable was inside, the doors would close behind her.  The room appeared to be an office of some kind.  There were two other people in the room other than Yiree and Sable - behind the desk in the room, a man with dark red hair glanced up from the report he was reading.  There were a pair of wire framed sunglasses on the table near his hand with silver lenses, and a black coat on the wall behind him.  The second person was a quiet man who may have been easy to miss - he was leaning against the corner, silently watching the door.  His 'clothing' looked more like combat armor, and his eyes were hidden behind a glowing visor.  He made no move to get up from the corner, just nodding his head slightly at Yiree and causing his long blonde dreadlocks to fall past one of his shoulders.

 

"Who's the girl."  The man behind the desk stood up, staring at Sable judgingly before looking at Yiree.  "You think she has what it takes to join?"  "She seems to think so.  Has the right attitude."  "Go wake up Kaleb, we'll see."  Yiree nods and steps back out of the office, the man walking around from behind the desk to look Sable over.  Crossing his arms, he narrows his eyes slightly with a small frown on his face.  "I don't know what Yiree's told you, but you'd better be tough.  Because if you don't make the cut, you do realize you can't just leave now that you've seen our base.  Do you know who I am, girl?"

"Zo, watch out!"  Zoroark rolled out of the way as Gyarados' tail crashed towards it, the dark type panting slightly.  Its eyes widen as it sees the tail coming towards it again, attempting to jump backwards...

 

...And getting his foot caught on the grass knot Helioptile had placed earlier.  Zoroark fell to the ground, raising its arms up to try and shield itself from the tail coming towards it, before lighting up red and being returned to his Pokeball.  Cecil gave a small sigh, rubbing the back of his neck as Gyarados' tail slams into where Zoroark had been.  "Well...  That was impressive.  I'd heard about it, I'd never seen a Pokemon evolve in the middle of a battle though..."

Bonsly was completely confused now, having listened to Elias' Pokedex and having the trainer still so confident that it was a rock type.  It was curious what this trainer was going to do next.  The little Pokemon looks at Elias' hand before leaning forward to try and grip his hand with the top of its head.

Attempting to snatch away the berries was precisely what Bunnelby had tried to do, swinging his ears towards the bag as Abigail pulled it away.  When that didn't work it bounded backwards a step, looking at the growling Vulpix and then at the bag of food, then down to its heart scale trophy.  After a couple moments of consideration it holds the heart scale towards Abigail, though still holding on to it with both hands, extending its ears to try and take the berries again.  This was too easy - it would just wait for her to try and make the trade, then go underground with the scale AND the berries!  Trainers were as much fun to pick on as Vulpix was!

Nidoran wrinkles up her nose a little as she sniffs at Espeon before nodding at the psychic type.  "Ni-ni."  Nidoran chews on the berry a little more before just eating the whole thing, sitting down and staring at Espeon and Cilla.  She wasn't sure what they wanted...  Even if they did seem friendly enough.

"That's not good...." Jason mumbled as the Bagon began to Dragon Dance. "Joltik come back. Lumi you're up. You know what to do." He said as his two Pokemon switched places. Jason was confident that Lumi could easily dispatch this Bagon with her type advantage. He gave Lumi a reassuring nod as she entered the battlefield. 

Lumi kept her distance from the Bagon and barraged it with several ice shards in hopes of wearing it down.

"Excellent work, Gyarados!" Stella said after her pokemon had finished knocking out Zoroark. Perhaps it was a good idea to catch a Magikarp after all, though the giant blue pokemon was a little threatening. Or at least, it would be if it didn't keep the same disposition as Magikarp. Gyarados had brought its head towards his trainer and began to gently push into the girl with it. She patted him, giggling like an idiot. "Okay, okay. Return!" She said, returning Gyarados to his pokeball in a beam of red light.

 

Stella then brought her attentions to the other trainer. "You haven't?" She asked him. The feat of evolution wasn't exactly uncommon. Hadn't his Zoroark evolved in battle? Whatever. Stella needed to move on at this point. She brought up a hand to wave goodbye, then turned to go to the pokemon centre. She had been making frequent stops there, but it made sense to if a pokemon had fainted.

 

Once her pokemon were all healed, Stella made her way to ice cave. She didn't notice if Cecil was still there or not, but it wasn't like it mattered. She needed to catch an ice type for Clair, after all. Looking around the cave, Stella found something that immediately caught her interests. It looked like the Teddiursa, but much cuter! The pokemon was Cubchoo, to be precise. "Phanpy!" She exclaimed, calling out the ground type, who trumpeted its trunk upon being summoned. It looked around, unsure of the icy terrain. "See that one?" Stella pointed to Cubchoo, an action Phanpy nodded in response to. "Let's make friends with it, ok?" 

 

Phanpy nodded, and let out a happy cry. He quite liked making friends, after all! He carefully walked up to Cubchoo, and gently tapped it with his trunk.

Elias smiled at the Bonsly as it allowed him to pick it up. Now he could return this pokemon to its proper home! Now the problem was finding one of the girls to let him know where this Bonsly might be from. "Elgyem!" Elias exclaimed. Elgyem quickly turned his attention to the boy, looking rather nervous as during the whole ordeal the psychic type had been sulking. "Let's find one of the girls, okay? Or at least try to." Elgyem nodded, and began to wander in the direction he believed one of the girls to be. 

 

In no time Elgyem had found Abigail. She looked to be doing a trade of sorts, though the pokemon she was trading with looked to be of a suspicious nature. "Elg?" It asked, questioning what was happening. When the psychic type finally did get it, which involved some reading of minds, it grabbed the Heart Scale from Bunnelby using its psychic powers, then placed it in front of Vulpix's nose. Elgyem then took a few of the berries, and placed them right in front of Bunnelby. The psychic type, not sure he had helped, then hovered towards Abigail. He lightly shook one of her shoulders, as if asking for attention.

 

"Slow down, would you Elgyem?" Elias asked his pokemon when he had finally caught up. He managed to not bump into Abi this time, as Elgyem actually told him she was there this time. "Ah! Yes! Abigail! Just who I wanted to see!" Elias exclaimed, clearly not noticing the events with Bunnelby and Vulpix. "Do you, perchance, know of any particularly dry places around? I fear this Bonsly to be lost."

Abigail never let her eyes off the bunnelby, "I'm not a fool; I know what you're planning, you sneak. You're not the first to try and hoodwink me! Though... they all succeeded in the past... but, still! Not this time!" Abigail thought to herself. Still, despite the mischievous nature of this pokemon, Abigail wanted to avoid conflict and resolve this properly.

 

Before she could try to carry out the trade, however, she saw the heart scale float out of the bunnelby's paws and towards the vulpix. "Heh?" She uttered, noticing that the pouch she was holding to her chest was getting lighter as berries floated out of it and towards the bunnelby. She stood in blank confusion until she heard her clefairy utter, "-ryyy." She turned to see her pokemon glaring irritated at a familiar looking elgyem that was shaking her shoulders. "Clef! Clef-ay! Ry ry ry!" The clefairy scolded the elgyem, clearly displeased with its intervention. It was attempting to communicate to the psychic type that her trainer could've totally handled that trade by herself, and that it had disgraced both Abigail and the clefairy by taking the matter into its own (metaphorical)hands.

 

"Now, now, Isabella. That's not necessary. It was just wanting to help, and it did. Nothing wrong with that." The clefairy simply puffed out its cheeks and turned it head away. Abigail looked at the elgyem and smiled at it, "Merci bien de votre assistance, Elgyem." She turned her attention back to the vulpix, still smiling, "there, see? No one had to fight." She petted it on the head, scratching lightly behind the ear.

 

Soon, Elias had caught up with his elgyem, carrying an odd pokemon in his arms. "Oh, hey Elias! Um... but, uh." She handed her pouch of berries to her clefairy, and it zealously held the remaining berries to its chest tightly. Abigail pointed at the bonsly with her newly freed hand, "why would you want to bring that pokemon to a dry place? Surely a grass-type should need plenty of moisture."

 

Meanwhile, Abigail's krabby was doing its signature walk, pacing back and forth as it eyed the situation between the vulpix and the bunnelby. It came around behind the bunnelby, and snapped it pincers in its general direction to attract its attention, "kooky!"

"Kinda seems like a small storm to me." Sable says quietly. Yiree did bring up a good point though, all the other teams recruited painfully weak members and it showed. Of course, it didn't help that there was always some prodigy trainer ready to grind everything to a halt. When the group passed by Kaleb, Umbreon got tense and glared at Mightyena as if to make sure it didn't try anything, though Umbreon relaxed himself when the Mightyena lowered it's head. 

 

Sable looked around as she and Yiree entered some sort of office. The man leaning against the corner gave her slight chills. He had the same vibe as the Shadow Triad and Sable hoped he wouldn't be able to randomly disappear and teleport people away like they could. Behind the desk sat a man with red hair, presumably Storm's leader, who tells Yiree to get Kaleb before analyzing Sable for a moment and asking her if she knew who he was. "Err....No I don't think so." After another moment of thinking Sable's eyes widened. "Ohh wait, you're Giovanni's kid aren't you?" Sable said not realizing she was probably bringing up bad memories. "We used to talk about you and your father all the time back in Plasma. Tell me, is is true he created Mewtwo?" she asked almost exicted.

"So, Nidoran." Cilla said smiling "Would you like to come with us as we travel Johto? I promise you'll be safe and always have berries to eat." she then takes out a Pokeball and sets it next to the poison type. Both Cilla and Espeon hoped the Nidoran would agree to join them.

"Bon?  Bon bon!"  Bonsly kicked its little feet and smiled at Abigail, seemingly finding it funny that she thought it was a grass type.  It still didn't understand why Elias seemed to know it was a rock type...  ANYONE who looked at it would think grass!  Maybe he wasn't very smart.  That would make sense to Bonsly.  ...That, or he was TOO smart!  Narrowing its eyes slightly, Bonsly tilts its head back to look at Elias, wondering which it was.

 

While this was going on, Bunnelby was fuming.  That little psychic Pokemon ruined its plan!  Huffing angrily, it quickly stuffs the berries into its mouth, pushing them into its cheeks where they would be safe.  As it was doing this Vulpix had taken the heart scale and was trying to chew on it.  After a couple moments the little fire type spits out the scale, frowning and pawing at it a couple times.  "Vul!"  Vulpix sounded almost annoyed as it cried out, smacking the heart scale with its paw again.

 

When Abigail's Krabby clacked her pincers behind Bunnelby, it spun around to stare at the water type.  It was still upset - it had lost the heart scale and the berry bag, and it had to find some way to salvage this!  Bunnelby's eyes narrow slightly before abruptly jumping up and lashing towards Krabby with a Double Kick.  Without waiting to even see if the attack was effective, Bunnelby used its ears to start tunneling back down into the dirt with Dig.

 

Bunnelby stays down for a short while, before the ground under Isabella shakes slightly.  Suddenly Bunnelby's ears would shoot out of the dirt, trying to grab the bag of berries from the Clefairy.

Nidoran looks at the Pokeball for a moment before back to Cilla and Espeon.  After considering their offer for a few seconds it spreads its ears out again and puffs itself back up, chirping towards Espeon "Ni-Ni!  Nido!"  It seemed to want to battle, to make sure Cilla was a competent trainer before agreeing to go with them.

"Sleep talk, Bagon!"  The sleeping Bagon starts running towards Lumi as he sleeps, his mouth starting to glow with fire as he attempts another fire fang in his sleep.  The shards of ice shatter against Bagon's thick skull - a super effective hit, but since the dragon was asleep, he didn't seem to react as much as he might of if he'd been awake during the hit.  With the speed boost of a couple Dragon Dances making him run more quickly, Bagon manages to close the distance in no time to attempt and bite down on Lumi.

Cubchoo turns to look at Phanpy, before promptly falling over from trying to twist around where it was sitting.  After sitting back upright it tilts its head, looking at Phanpy...  Before sneezing and scooting backwards on the ice from the force of the sneeze.  Cubchoo spins slowly on the ice, not out of any effort to, but just from the momentum of its sneeze.  Eventually it comes to a stop against a frozen stalagmite, tilting its head as it looks across the ice to Phanpy, as though wondering why the ground type had gotten so far away.  "Cub?"

The red-haired man narrows his eyes as she calls him "Giovanni's son", turning to walk back to pick up something off the desk.  "It's true that he lost Mewtwo, because he was weak.  My name is Silver."  Silver turns back around, the silver-framed sunglasses now on his face.  Before anything else could be said the door opens again, Yiree and Kaleb standing in the doorway.  "You -yawn- wanted me for somethin', boss?"

 

With a nod of his head, Silver turns to lead them out of the office.  Yiree and Kaleb follow behind him, and the quiet man who'd not been introduced brings up the rear behind Sable.  Back outside in the living quarters, it would seem as though somehow in the short amount of time they had been in the office, Viro had managed to push EVERYTHING to the outer walls to leave the room mostly clear.

 

Walking off to the side, Silver flops down on one of the couches and points at Sable.  "You're going to face Kaleb, one on one.  If you beat him, you're on the team.  If you lose...  Well, just don't lose and you've got nothing to worry about."  He smirks slightly and nods towards Kaleb.

 

Hiding another yawn behind his hand, Kaleb tugs his bandana down around his neck before reaching for a Pokeball.  "Slowbro, you're up, partner."

Sable was about to ask if the stories about the trainer named Red were true when both she and Silver were interrupted by Kaleb entering the room. Silver then led everyone out into the room just outside the office were Viro had apparently moved all the furniture to the side. "She did all this that fast?" Sable asks looking around. "Heh, that girl may be annoying but she sure is fast." Sable then turns to look at Silver as he starts talking, saying that she must fight Kaleb if she wants to join Storm. "Alright then let's get this over with." she says as she cracks her knuckles. When Kaleb send out Slowbro, Umbreon immediately steps up. "No, no, Umbreon you stay back. I have a better way of dealing with this thing." Umbreon nods and walks back behind Sable, looking a bit disappointed. "Alright Galvantula, lets make this quick." Sable says. The electric spider cries out as it enters the room, eager to participate in another battle. "By all means go first. You'll need the advantage." she says smirking slightly.

"Wants wrong girl?" Cilla asks as the Nidoran chirps at Espeon. "Oh you want to battle? Well I suppose if you're alright with it..." she says, reluctantly taking out Drilbur's pokeball. "You don't mind if I use someone else for this do you Espeon?" Espeon shakes her head and Cilla promptly throws out Drilbur's pokeball, releasing the little mole.

 

"Dril? Dril, Drilbur!" the Pokemon says looking around. Drilbur then looks down as it's stomach rumbles. "Oh you're hungry aren't you? I completely forgot about breakfast. Hold on." Cilla takes out a Pecha Berry and tosses it at Drilbur. "I don't have much more than this. We can get more after the battle, okay?" the ground type nods taking a small bite of the berry, It seems he wanted to make it last. "Now use Fury Swipes." Cilla commands. Drilbur then rushes at Nidoran before swiping the Pokemon furiously.

Jason watched the Bagon quickly covered the distance to Lumi, its mouth ablaze with fire. Jason cringed as the Bagon began to strike, he knew a super effective fire attack would be devastating.
Lumi tried to roll towards the side to avoid the attack, but the fire fang still managed to graze her. It was not a direct hit but the attack hurt quite a lot causing her to grimace in pain. Lumi recomposed herself and quickly began to fill the battle space with a hailstorm making visibility drop. She backpedaled away from the sleeping Bagon channeling the chilling icy air towards the dragon in an attempt to hurt it while lowering its speed to a manageable level.

Jason looked relieved when Lumi recovered from the attack. He smiled as the cold hailstorm filled the arena space obscuring Lumi from view. Jason remained silent and watched what the Bagon would do next.
